i see that summarizing isnt your strong suit...

The only concern I read in that was that the AFL might dramatically increase the salary cap for the AFLW which might make Collingwood funds get diverted from the men's team and then some blah blah about revenue streams to make your point look considered. That was all that neede summarizing as the whole post was built on a very unlikely if clause.

You should have run with this:

If the women's game becomes full of militant fundamentalists, we may see a wave of terrorist attacks against male AFL players, which might destroy the game at it's grass roots as parent's may become unwilling to let their kids play footy.

well thats a far better summary. I saw the crack about blah blah. As you'd be aware I'm paid by BF for each word so it pays for me to embellish.

as for bridie, if she makes through the next vote, i have no problems with her advocating for higher pay for the women.

Pass on the grundy's, way too twisted for my liking.

There is already money coming into AFLW through sponsorships and memberships. That will continue to grow. We now also see admissions charged at some venues. And we'll see the networks pay to televise their games.

Under the 2017-2022 CBA, base salaries (pre-covid) for senior men were as follows:

I don't think it's unreasonable that our best AFLW players should be earning at least that when even 1st year draftee's are similarly rewarded.

That to me starts to achieve parity.

I think that paying AFL**M base salaries to the AFLW would probably break clubs like North, if there isnt an increase in revenue to cover it. It may push some clubs to private ownership...... and the vultures are circling.

Private ownership would solve some of my worries about collingwood winning future premierships.

My 100m reference is very appropriate. As i stated in another post, the physical standards for the army and police force were very clear but they have been lowered for one particular demographic in order to have a police force which better reflects our society.
I thought the role of the police force was to enforce the law and maintain peace and order. Why would it need to reflect our society's demographic as long as it is protecting and serving that society anymore than nurses should reflect the society they care for?

Are you inferring all women or all people of a particular race share different views to white men? It's absurd. This notion that gender or racial diversity guarantees diversity of thought or ideas is groundless.
If you want fresh ideas and attitudes then let that be the guiding principle in the selection process and then gender will be irrelevant.

You mean imply not infer. But the answer is no.

i think he's inferring or implying that all people have the same shared experiences, irrespective of race or gender..... which are also his, of course....

which infers or implies that domie knows what it's like to be the only black man in the changerooms, for example. He has great gifts.

Were you as outraged when the Club changed the 2 year membership requirement for her predecessor?
I've been outraged ever since the constitutional amendments were used to avoid member votes by using the casual vacancy appointment to ensure every board member is a sitting member at election time and the club strongarming any potential candidates out of nominating. End result is an unaccountable, governance bereft, incompetent, failed board containing not one single member elected representative.

No one held Eddie to account for anything because they were all his appointments. Not only all the board members but all the CEOs and coaches we have had this century.

We got what we deserved because we stood by and watched.

Sorry that’s incorrect. All board members - whether they took over another member’s term or not - have always been subject to re-election at the end of their terms. The lack of elections comes from a lack of alternative candidates. Now the “strongarming” may have occurred but nothing in the constitution has actually stopped alternate candidates putting themselves forward.

Your 100m example is tripe. Diversity on a board is aimed at being more representative of the broader community.

If you have a problem with that, you are out of step with current views accepted across the Western world. But by all means keep fighting the good fight. It is kind of entertaining.

MRA's make me LOL.

but to go back to my original point, as long as it's consensual - maybe the horse kicking the ground once for yes and twice for no - then I wont be condemning the politician. I can see people like Barnaby having longterm relationships with their horse, that they would find impossible to have with humans.

There is no circumstance in which im having sex with Barnaby Joyce. Lets just be crystal clear here.

I don't believe the women wish to be playing against 110kg players like Hannah Mouncey.
I spoke to, admittedly only 1, of Collingwood's star players and she was adamant about it (not being a good idea) and espoused that others shared that view.

Can anyone please tell me of how many transgender players are lining up to play in any mens football competitions, at any level, anywhere?

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

your confidence in your ability to assess skills that you dont possess is astounding....i'm not sure why governments bother to research issues when they have you as an untapped resource.

can i ask whether you use your skills by betting on horse racing? I would be grateful for a few tips for this weekend
It's not hard. My male doctor won me over the first time he phoned me at home to see how I was after a consultation. He has done this for 20 years.
He listens to me and I never feel rushed or fobbed off as I did with my female GP..
He refers me to specialists when unsure or in need of an experts opinion.
He rings me as soon as he has a scan or blood results.
He's a passionate Collingwood man too. He also works fulltime. All of the female GPS my wife or I have had work part time.
Horseracing holds no interest for me. Sorry.

I think you may be dealing with some repressed urges

but you have to accept that from women... they are notoriously self-indulgent. surely, your previous female doctor and yourself had wonderful chats about fashion and the royal family? Their skills lie elsewhere. I hope she didnt harass you. Some men have that effect on women...

Thanks, Mark. I try to be humble, but you see me.

No, I just think the notion that I can't speak about women's issues or black people's issues because I'm white is a very silly one.

Women are certainly in no way restrained when speaking about men and what it means to be a man. Black people regularly make observations and provide insights into what they believe is the white populations'experience.

Just to clarify, I believe there are black men and women who share my poliitial views and white men who oppose them.

Therefore, to assume you are creating more diversity of thought by employing more women or people of colour is no way to achieve this goal. As i said in an earlier post, if the criteria is a need for fresh ideas and attitudes then ask the potential new board member how they think and feel about a range of issues and you will find the people you are looking for without having to know their race or gender.

I have every right to have an opinion on any subject regardless of my skin colour or gender.

You are so sexist at times it upsets me. Why would you make such abhorrent observations about female doctors?
I have found all of mine to be professional and above reproach despite the obvious temptations they were bound to face when I entered their surgery.
Incredible self control.

You can speak about women and black people but from your own perspective.... that was my point. I'm not saying you cant have an opinion. Women who speak about a white guy's experience are doing the same. I remember that Bettina Arnt woman who used to talk about men's sexual attitudes. She might have studied a lot but not only are there limits to her knowledge, white guys dont like being theorised like that. The same is true for a lot of women too. They dont particularly like men making rules for them...Black guys dont take too kindly about an all white board writing policy on racism.

Think about the men who have spoken out about trannies playing in the women's league in these threads. Why do some men think that they can pontificate for women that way? It's been going on for centuries.

The other thing is that ideas come from different experiences. A black woman would have lived the experience of being the only black woman in the room. Dont you think she might be able to bring more to a board room discussion about racism policy, than a white guy with a HR degree?

You go and on about skills etc....subcontract.... if the board needs to negotiate a new sponsorship with emirate air, hire a negotiator to do it. Hire an accountant to look at the books. These skills are easily outsourced.

i dont doubt their self control. In fact, i'm impressed that they havent thrown themselves at you. You have that take-charge demeanour that women adore...

Board can allow anyone they want to sit in on meetings unless I'm mistaken.

Yes but they’ve announced that she has been APPOINTED to the Board and then....later....said that she has no voting rights. But the APPOINTMENT is surely invalid?
