Draft Camp/state Screening Invitees

Oh my god, now the newpapers are posting invitees to the draft camp. Thats very naughty because they know they shouldn't.

just got spoke to my little brother and found out the rebels havde 7 camp invities all up. 4 draft camp and 3 state screening

Big surprise to miss out in Hooper.

Personaly i think it is cause he is to small but he must be the most unlucky bloke to not get even a state screen invite. has a lot of heart and is full of courage, VC MVP but that doesn't mean much i no. i heard the rebels are pushing hard for him to go to the SS a show what he can do. Any one have any thought or ideas?

These came from a rebels player so i believe them to be true. happy to be proven wrong though.

Well it has nothing to do with how he plays the game. Racks up plenty of possessions, goes in for a contest, and will go and get his own footy.

IMO being MVP for VC is a very high accolade and one he should be proud of. Hoops was in the 16's last year so he is still bottom age, but this non selection is purely a function of his height (172 cm), and unfortunately he can't change that.

All he can do is hang in there and try and stick it up them.

No doubt he'll be picked again for VC next year if he's not drafted.

So what else can he do?

Yep, horrible luck for Hoops, but he's not the first player to get overlooked due to his height and he won't be the last either.

Its game on is right that he'll just have to put his head down and work his arse off next year. He'll be a better chance next year as not only will he be old enough to rookie, but having the shallower pool next year (due to the change of the draft age) may mean that a RM might take a punt on him despite his height (which I hope happens).

That itself is a seperate debate.

Like you I do not know why the AFL do not release the information other than it is only an interim list and not the final list so it can be changed and will be changed if every other year the list has been added to. Maybe the AFL just want to ensure all the players find out directly from them rather than through a web site like this.

The information is handed out by the AFL to clubs in a manner where the clubs are expected to keep the information confidential, obviously each clubs recruiting department have the full lists and I would suspect that most of the scouts are shown the list.

It appears that some of these people who know the information is suppose to be kept in house still decide to betray that trust.

Some people here obviously find out about kids from their club and by that time it is general information and I find it acceptable for those people to post that information here. I also acknowledge that there are people interested in knowing who is going to draft camp and screenings.

Who said it is betraying trust? Where does it say information can't be given out before the AFL advise publicly? I posted the Bushies stuff because it was on their public website 2 weeks ago and people are interested. Nothing more nothing less!!

It's not as if the list is a State Secret. At the push of an AFL button 40 recruiters have the lists. Then another button push by the head recruiters and another couple of hundred spotters have the lists. And so on and so on.

Pretty soon the selected kids get told and they tell their mates and parents and before long there is not much that isn't fairly common knowledge.

It's no different to Mike Sheahan announcing in the Melbourne Paper today about the new GC17 drafting arrangements for 2010 before the formal announcement has been made.

That's just life.

99% of BF is about big noting in way on another so your holier than thou posts will certainly fall on deaf ears.

The truth is that the people who have received the list have received it in confidence from their employer.

However, as one poster pointed out. You could walk up to a recruiter at an colts game and he will gladly list out who made it and who didnt.

The AFL should make it public now, surely all the parties have been informed. Whats the bet the AFL site has just been lazy and havent got around to posting it.

The players had to accept invites by this Friday. Maybe the AFL wait so they just list those that will attend camp and SS not everyone who was invited.

Another fair effort by West Adelaide, with 4 of the 13.

That's odd isn't it, becuase I presume the bloods are still struggling? As are Swan Districts here, although possibly being in finals this year, but haven't won a premiership since '90 and have 7 of the 13 DC invites coming from their programmes. Admittedly Blight was a bit of a surprise.

Well done to West Adelaide, by the way.
