Draft priority-1 big Forward

Got no chance of getting tippet he will either stay at Adelaide or move back home to the new gold coast team. I think we should go after Roughead really hard now seeing that Wood is finally stepping up to afl level and is starting to get involved in contest and win hit outs so he is coming along nicely we just need to keep playing him even when Fraser comes back into the side.

Wouldnt Mind us offering our first pick plus second pick and a player for roughead seeing that this draft isnt very strong, We wouldnt be missing out on any star players with the picks we are likely to have. Im guessing Hawthorn would want a trade such as, First and second pick plus nathan brown. any thoughts?

We already have a "Ranga" in Keefe.

Roughy does not do it for me. I know he is excellent when he's on but he is very up and down...even now. He looks a lot better in a side with a Franklin than I think he would as the "main man".

First Pick: Nathan Vardy or Jack Fitspatrick 200 cm Ruckman who can go down forward
Rated as the top ruck prospects for this years draft and should go from picks 10 to 16

Second Round:
Jake Carlisle 196 cm Forward Great hands can kick goals and can play down back has a bit of Jack Watts about him. should go around pick 25 to 40

Second Round: Troy Taylor impressive forward very similar to Daniel Motlop who is good lead up forward his about 188cm and is very good around goals and on ground good 3rd tall option (Maybe bit to small but jeez his exciting)

What about Matthew Pavlich surely he would wanna leave Fremantle by now ??

he doesnt seem to want to leave,he is on huge money and sponsership $$$ in a 2 team town.a flag doesnt seem appear to be a priority to him

I think our number 1 target should be Sandilands

He could almost win us a flag he is the best Ruck in the league

Play Fraser at CHF Cloke at FF Anthony in the FP

I just can't see Collingwood getting involved in a big trade this season, like most.

We have very few excess players who are actually worth something in the trade market, and therefore would have to sacrifice one area of our team for another, which usually comes back and bites you on the arse.

I do see the validity in taking a tall as our first pick, but if you look at the way the game is being played now, unless that tall is a gun (Riewoldt, Brown, Fev) they usually take a very long time to get anything out of.

We are in a premiership window in the next 2-3 years, with players like Davis, Fraser, Presti, O'bree and Lockyer all with only a few years left, we have to maybe consider a trade, but as I said it is unlikely.

I say maybe trade a Dawes, Rusling or Wellingham for a 2nd round pick, and build the team up for success for a long time, so both Bucks and MM can have a crack at the flag each.

i think that player already exists on our list. Big Trav Cloke has certainly got the build and the strength of it. And we know he's got a good set of hands.
We've then got dawes or fraser to fill the CHF position vacated by cloke, which means our no1 ruck becomes cam wood. Sounds just like a bit of a shuffle but its a good looking spine for our team: Presti, Brown, Wood, Fraser, Cloke.

I think our first draft priorities should probably be either a big ruckman, mumford sized who's got a bit of mongrel about him, or a good CHB prospect.

How on earth can you compare Cloke to Tippett.

It would cost the club to much to get sandilands. I subscribe more to the Sydney/St. Kilda theory (Dave86[I think] mentioned in another thread so all credit should got to him). A big fish is to hard to get and if you do get him he will cost you to much(first round draft picks and young gun). Instead you go for the little fish who have been struggling at other clubs but have potential for a late 2nd rounder/early 3rd round e.g Gardiner, Dawson, Ray Although you get some duds like Corrie this year it is a lower risk for high reward situation.

Some truth there as if you look at it you really need to hold a top 10 pick at least to get a big fish and if you want one of the big guns its gotta be top 5. You now have to add a quality young player to that pick as well. Its just so costly to get one and we just don't finish low enough to get the draft pick to do it. If you ask me you should really hold onto your first round picks unless you get something that you are desperate for or its a really weak draft.

St Kilda is sorta Sydney like in how they've added experienced quality players that weren't all that costly. Its probably the better way to go and when you look at it we've had a hit with Medhurst, Clement and Holland. Doesn't always work out though I guess but done right its a great way to boost your teams list cheaply. I think we've got better talent identification than what we used to, but its still no gaurantee - Corrie...
