Shudder let's hope we don't fu** this up
I mean, Dodoro has not picked a champion player in his 20 years, there is a better than even chance of it happening we get an ok player with all 3 picks haha

God I hope not...

Exactly. A lot of our picks are the "safe" players who a floor of being a regular AFL player but a lowish ceiling.

We need to take a risk and try for a game breaking player, even if it means they turn into someone who doesn't make it.

Cox never fill outs and becomes like Gleeson but can kick
Perkins never fills out and becomes Laverde but not injury prone

My personal view is that Dodoro picks them just fine.

It's our development that is lacking.

Tom Powell, angling for beachfront sometime down the track. What a player!

As some have suggested, we pick nice players, we can't develop them into anything more than nice players. So it's a bit of peter and paul here at Essendon

So what are we thinking will actually happen?

Pure guesswork of course, but I think we take Perkins and Cox at 7, 8 - trade 9 to the Pies for their current 16 (which will end up being 20-ish) and their first next year.

We’ll then hopefully grab Macrae or Powell with that pick, and secure Brand and Eyre when the bids come.

Five talented kids in the door, and two first rounders next year to work with.

I’ll be pretty happy with that return.
I would be overjoyed if that unfolds.

Kind of hard to mess up too much with 6, 7, 8.

Though if any club can find a way...

this is a fair point.

Who was the last truly elite player we drafted?
Lloyd?

I actually think draft night is going to shock a few people and could go veeerrrryyyy differently than most of the mocks says it will.

I have no factual basis for this but with so little seen (essentially nothing) in 2020 from what is usually 50-60% of the draft class being Victorian kids, i get the feeling that maybe some players that will vary massively from one clubs draft ranking to the next.

Sam Lonergan was our most truly elite Pick 50. Go Lonners!

I feel like Hawthorn is going to go left field and grab some guy nobody rates in the top 5 and shake the whole thing up
