Again, not an attack on Murph, I just think there's plenty to gain from putting inspirational players in the role with an eye to the future.

I'm not sure promoting a 32 year old into the role of co-captain is acting with an eye to the future.

If the club can't split Cripps and Docherty for the role a few years down the track so be it - and maybe both will get the nod - but there's no real advantage to implementing that structure in preparation for the possibility.

If we're preparing for the future wouldn't it make more sense to elevate one as co-captain with Murphy?

I think Zee means he'll pave the way for future expectations of the captaincy.

How does it work out for stats?

Does it get halved?

Player x captains for y games so is a captain of the football club for y games.
If co-captains for y games are you only recognised as captain for y/2 games?

I'd take the radical approach of having no captain. It's just a title, after all.

I'd promote the notion of a squad of leaders.

I'd posit the Carlton captaincy as the Sword in the Stone, similar to what the Yankees do, in that only when there is an exceptional and worthy candidate shall there be a captain.

Got a couple already.

BTW, netball clubs in regional leagues have been wearing dresses rather than skirts since before this century started.

Seems somehow appropriate that last Century viewpoints use out of date material to deliver the 'message'.

Very cleverly put Jabba73. You are far cleverer than I! You've made your point and made me look bad.:clapping::clapping::clapping:

Yes I do know that they wear dresses I've been watching my daughter play netball for 9 years straight, but you'll have to take my word for it that I have noticed the dresses.

I have the greatest respect for netball players and the game. We never miss an international on T.V and sometimes go to the games when we can. It is a very hard and tough game!

You've read an awful lot into two words that I wrote. I detract the "Netball skirts" comment and replace it with - Shit! Co-Captains is a soft and unnecessary overrated concept (no offence to anyone intended). And I am entitled to my opinion last time I checked.

Lets just have 22 Captains every week and be done with it.

Anyway, I thought that we had a leadership group.
I would have thought that they would contribute on-field, and, around the club on a daily basis and eventually grow into the roles of Captain and Vice-Captain. This is how I believe it should work.

Signed,

Stiffler's Dad - The sexist, racist, homophobe, wowser bigot

P.S: I confess, it was I that shot ******* Bambi

No netballers were harmed in the forming of this post, but if Jabba73 can prove there were, they were wearing dresses, not, I repeat not, wearing skirts.

You dare suggest I'd support that pack of amateurs!

So you're with me then Thy!
Can't wait for the pre-season to end and for the real stuff to start.
Think we have recruited well during the off.
The course chosen for the opener is a little more windy than we have been used to in the past so I'm feeling a bit nervous.
Got those pesky Romanians first up too.
