Just bought an Eagles In the Wings membership for $55. Any one got an idea on how big the waiting list is.

Is there any way to see where you are on the list?
They tell you every March with your member pack.

I'm about 4100. I jumped a few hundred last year.

First year members are up to about 7,000.

I think the average wait is about 6 years . Again thank that useless Carpenter and Ripper for sitting on those billions from the mining boom and stuffing around with reports on new stadiums rather than building one. I think it may be a while till people get seats or a new stadium .

I was on the waiting list, but we decided to wait for a new stadium...

Problem is a new/expanded stadium will still use same membership priorities... so 40,000 current members + 28,000 seats allocated to 7000 In the Wings Members means a 60,000 seat stadium will still see you on a waiting list. Even the remote chance of an increased stadium capacity is added reason to keep your In The Wings... as at some stage there should be an accelerated intake due to capacity increase... fingers crossed

I finally got my full membership this year after joining in the wings in 05, yay for me!! so i supposed at least 3 or 4 years is to be expected. however cant be too sure how economic crisis/us being shit will affect people so could be less time or more

i guess the other thing in favour of "Waiting in the Wings members" apart from the economic crisis which surely would have seen a few members not renew is that there are quite a high proportion of 70 plus members I guess fewer of them return every year as well....

I joined In The Wings when I was living overseas in 04/05 (gave up a membership before I went away in 03... wish I had just held onto it).

Got offered two single seat memberships early in 06 season (about 10 seats apart). Nice timing.

Finally got the seats moved together last year, took a while but all worth it.

So yeah, don't pass up single seats if you get offered, you can get them moved later if you ask nicely!

Ha ha, yes 1994 is a very good number - hopefully its lucky and I'll get a couple of seats soon...... I joined 2 years ago, so its not bad.

If you only moved up a few hundred it's hard to see how people are getting seats after only a few years. I guess the waiting list is getting bigger and bigger.

The Eagles won't get 60 000 members if (when) a new stadium is built (if it's built anytime soon). In fact the amount of members might decrease as people probably won't require a membership in order to attend games. Hence people will be far less inclined to renew particularly if we aren't going too well on field. (The current renewal rate, even given the GFC is occurring and we finished 15th last year is still about 98%).

If the stadium is big enough people will know they can just turn up on the day and buy tickets or just apply for another membership when the team is up again. (See Melbourne clubs).

Then again, if the population of Perth and the popularity of AFL keep growing as they are and the stadium is not built for another ~ 10 years and it is not built big enough then we may find ourselves with the same problem again.

Subiaco is probably at an ideal size for the Eagles at the moment as they can force everyone to get memberships if they wanna see some footy and make big $$$.
