Re: Brendan Fevola?

I can't believe how many people on here have such short memories.

He was a pr.ck of the highest order. He is a pr.ck of the highest order. He will ALWAYS be a pr.ck of the highest order.

Keep him the hell away from us.

Granted, but if it helped the club either short or long term, who cares. Probably some of our 2005 premiership players were jerks, but it's pretty meaningless to me as a supporter.

What would you'se be asking for Jesse White?

Will depend on how he goes the next 2 rounds, he may not be on the table at all.

Assuming he is, likely be asking for a pick in mid 20's > early 40's not sure that we'd realistically get that, so would likely hold onto him in that situation as well.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

I think the club's solid enough that he wouldn't corrupt any of our players, and we wouldn't take any shit from him.

Sure, we would cut him the second he played up but he corrupted the Brisbane playing list in less than a Pre Season and they went from a team in the Finals to a basketcase on and off the field thanks to his second "attempted" Pre Season.

Too much of a risk, like he was before. Nothing has changed

Re: Brendan Fevola?

However he wants to play in Melbourne near his family. Good luck to him.

Would be interesting to see how desperate he is to play AFL if we put in an offer and no Melbourne club is interested.

I'd have him, under the rule that if he stuffs up once, he's out.

He would give us an extra target up forward, and to those saying he'd halt Reids progress, i actually think he can help Reid. Reid has really burst out of the blocks this year and is no doubt going to have 2 and 3 blokes hanging off him next year. Fevola would have a lot to give (on the field) who is a great kick and goal and mark and would take a lot of the attention off a 20 year old Reid next year.

He;s certainly a character, but i really hope his stint in the VFL and the fact he is 30 may (just may) be the wake up call? But we've been through all that before, but we have tamed Lockett and Hall before him. I think we can do the same with Fevola.

I have to admit I agree, I think it might be just worth the punt on the basis 1 stuff up and your gone, could be just the launching pad we need to hit the top 4 and have a crack at the premiership ...

Lockett and Hall were never in Fevola's class for sheer stupidity.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

We didn't want him at 28yr old as he would of been big dosh and big risk.
Now he is a 30yr old that will be dirt cheap and little risk. He messes up he is on small dollars and can be thrown to the reserves.

I say offer him rookie $$$ and go for it. Bradshaw with less risk.
Still would be the best goal kicking forward in the game, regardless. Give him a 2-3yr contract just so if he does fire we don't lose him next year.

We certainly not getting Walker just re-signed with Crows, I don't think he was our answer.
More outside speed, however would have a lash at Reid from Pies, pay them well over for him & keep the bro's together in Blood Colours!
I would look at Masten from WCE?

Re: Brendan Fevola?

Doubt the club would want his reputation at Sydney. We do have a pretty clean record for off-field drama and it'd be neat to keep it that way. He'd be good. Would surely kick quite a few goals but you just can't risk the SSFC looking foolish on account of him. Giving someone a third chance because we need a forward seems a bit off. Not that I don't think the idea should be discussed.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

im not quite sure what he has ever done that is that bad.

got into a fight in a bar? I believe he is not the first person to do this.

sent photos of a girl around to his mates without her knoweldge? I think this is has probably happened before as well.

Supposedly there was some stuff at the brownlow that went unreported, but I dont think it is fair to scruitinize someone over rumor or allegations that arent backed up.

And I dont see what the evidence that he has negatively impacted young players at either brisbane or carlton.

Having said that, I dont see him as a good fit for our club. Id rather keep trying to develop reid, lj, and white.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

Well depite a very underdone forward line experience-wise we made it into the eight; and probably should have done even better than last year if we'd kicked straight. So I'd argue we don't need to take a punt and pick him up.

A lot of hype about his 43 goals recently. But he is very overweight and playing a far lower level of footy. Can't see see him coping with a gameplan that requires forwards to tackle and chase.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

Aren't Sydney the club that brings in the bad boys and repairs them?

I think all of you guys are being quite negative and unknowlegable. You don't think a bloke that has played for over a decade could lose 10kg of weight and gain enough fitness to play in one of season if given the chance?

The bloke is a star and would dominate if given that chance.

Though it would of have to be at bottom $$$.

tend to agree.

"Fev - we need 100 goals from you, tackling, fit in. This is a list of stuff-ups - you fal one, gone."

Give the bloke a list of goals, tell him he is equal with anyone else and needs to earn his spot. He buggers up one week with bad skills, we throw him back to the ressies. Make him earn his spot again, if he can kick a bag of 10 still he must still have the nack, regardless VFL or not. I believe he was playing on one of Carlton's defenders anyway?

Look at it like this, we have a window for another premiership that revolves around Goodes, O'Keefe and Bolton. Big losses when they go, put him in give him that 2-3yr chance. If he buggers up, no big loss. One rookie gone.
