Rumour has it Brett Cook wants back in at Montrose but the committee are not keen to hand over the $$$$ ( is the money drying up).

Well they have just taken on Matt Petracca for $1k a game, so they can't be going too badly.

In other news, Kire Talevski has broken his contract at Mooroolbark to join Wandin on $25k for the remainder of the season.

Brett Cook?
Do you speak of Brett Johnson or Adam Cook.
Cook has not been seen on the track at Montrose since last August.
He returned to Gippsland after playing in NTFL.

How can he break a contract when he was cleared by Mooroolbark to play up North and now only has to get cleared by AFLNQ to Wandin? $25K, please get real.
Adam Cook has already been cleared by Montrose after the CFMEU stood over the Club to get him cleared. Doubt that the Coach Johnson is going anywhere, being undefeated on top of the ladder and being well looked after!

It's interesting that you think the CFMEU stood over a club that is coached by an active working rep of the AFL players association Blue Boy.
I think you will find that an agreement was reached with the Gippsland club and Montrose, where Cook was contracted.
How was it a stand over job?

Union threatened to black list some of the major sponsors at Montrose (Trade Businesses) who in turn threatened to withdraw their sponsorships from the Club. All stems from the Desal plant site and look who Cook is playing for! Montrose people claimed to me that there was also an envelope handed over in exchange for the release from contract but I believe it was more the other Industrial pressure that won out.

Football bodies and governments would be most interested.

Need to qualify that, it was the Plumbers and Gasfitters who approached the President (check his business activity) and applied the squirrel grip!

Your an idiot.
He was always going to be cleared after the club and players would not accept him back. He has not been seen, so was no longer wanted.
There was only one way things could go.

Ignorance is bliss Goady! Had not noticed your connection to Montrose until now. Club or players would not accept him back pfft. That's why the clearance took so long to get because you guys would not clear him ffs!.

Well, He wasn't cleared as quickly as Cupido i guess.

Both Reserves and Seniors lost to Dromana, although no score was kept. But had easy wins against Yarra Glen. Tough round 1 start against Montrose.
Saw a couple of early games (vs. Mulgrave) and Donvale looked ok. Seems they have really struggled the past month or so. Injuries? Not enough depth? Had more kicked against them than any other team too. Time to play 19's maybe.

Will be Upper Gully heading back for mine.

Disappointing that they have not been able to consolidate in Div 2, but losing Sherlock and Petracca can't have helped.

Also of note is the fact that the top four are all facing off a week earlier than anticipated. Barkers can seal the double chance with a win against Croydon at home, or need Montrose to knock over North Ringwood should they lose.

If both the lower-placed sides get up, it will be the same matches repeated again next week.

Probably agree with you there. 5 scoring shots last week to Croydon's 35 sums it up when their season is on the line.
Young list though and probably need to go back to divvy 3 while they rebuild.

Can anyone get near Montrose come the finals?

Barks knocked them over by a point earlier in the year. Finals could be a different story but we matched up well on them that day and it was a finals-like intensity.

North Ringwood are the best side I've seen this year (and I've seen them all).

Will be interesting to see how playing at Boronia affects the finals - all Mooroolbark's finals over the past five or so years have been at the shockingly wide Jubilee Park. I also think the loss of Talevski could be a blessing in disguise - been horribly exposed the past couple of years when he's been shut down in finals - the much less one dimensional attack should be a lot more unpredictable this year...goals have been much more spread out.

It's always an interesting argument surrounding the pros and cons of a big key forward. I'm like you and prefer more options up forward. I've seen teams who rely on one and if he's shut down or is missing, the teammates look lost entering the 50.
I saw Nth Ringwood recently and they didn't set the world on fire, but didn't have much to play for that day.
Should be a great finals series as the top 4 are miles ahead of the rest. Good luck!

I think North Ringwood answered my question and confirmed your thoughts Cammo.

In fairness to Montrose, they deserve favouritism - two losses all season, to the second and third placed teams, by a combined total of two points is a pretty dominant season.

It would have to leave questions in the back of their mind, though.

Going to be a great finals series.

Would expect Nth to comfortably account for Croydon this week. Barks must knock Montrose over this week or I fear it will be straight sets.

Not quite so comfortable hey Cammo, nor was our game against you. Bonus having an ex player umpire I would have thought! 30 vs 15 I believe?
