Moreland are hopeless. Northern saints rooms are the original rooms from the 70’s maybe earlier, their switchboard is a death trap their away rooms smaller than my toilet the lights are the originals with two lamps per tower... that precinct is well overdue for an overhaul but priorities are elsewhere....
that place has serious potential, two ovals, netball courts lawn bowls and tennis.

You're spot on and maybe this is what all of this debacle is supposed to teach us. Maybe each of our clubs should band together and start fighting for this stuff as a unit instead of each of us just being 100% focused on home. Surely every club could spare a bit of time and effort to hassle whomever whenever to get some of this stuff sorted. Or at least make a group effort as a whole. We're losing clubs that have so much history and when you look in the divisions above a few of them are going to cop the same thing. Move up, get relegated the next year, no money and then what?! Another one bites the dust I guess. And when we lose a club obviously some jump laterally to another club but we also lose a chunk of those players to other leagues or they just pack it in altogether. Volunteers and supporters aren't going to follow unless they have a family link for the most part and so there goes more people who are integral to grass roots local footy. The club I support is in a fortunate spot at the moment as we have a strong junior base somehow and quite a few supporters. However we're not naive enough to think that we couldn't be exactly where KP or Jacana are in a very short period of time as things can change very quickly depending on so many factors. We need to build up and protect our local footy clubs even if the EDFL can't be stuffed because at this rate we're all going to be bulldozed to make way for other council sports or initiatives sooner or later.

It’s definitely not the best feeling to watch your players fight their hearts out while both teams fight tooth and nail yesterday while seeing scores in other games that are obviously a cakewalk. Can’t even take the ladder seriously until everyone plays KP and the % is accounted for and as for Jacana?! And it’s not just this division. Look at some of the scores in the other two. The EDFL needs to sort things out sooner than later because who in their right mind would want to play for a club losing by 300 points? How are you meant to attract players, sponsors or even supporters?? What a mess and that goes for a few other teams above as well.

go back to a 2 team comp 16 in second division and 12 in the premier you think ?

When are the EDFL going to come out and tell us what is happening in this division. I am just an observer now but on the weekend 3 clubs reserves had a bye. Surely this is not sustainable??? Are the league going to do a new draw? For example Hadfield have a bye this week, next week they are drawn to play Jacana. As a club they have no idea where and when their next game will be. This is not good enough. The league needs to act. On their website today still no story re Jacana. Still no story Re East Keilor (and the points problem) but we have got great pictures of Digby Morell and Dean Galea. Tell us what the current situation is with Jacana! Was last week a one off? are they folding? Instead of trying to bring more teams into the league how about helping the ones that have been n it for 50 years and stop treating EDFL followers like morons. Keep us informed.

I’ve heard so many proposed solutions talked about at matches the past few weeks that I honestly don’t know what I think anymore. But it’s not a good look when a club goes up only to immediately come back down the next year. And that’s even disregarding whatever’s going on at Jacana this season now with their financial viability. How many people have said clubs need support - in one form or another - when they’re jumping up a division and yet no one listens. And then you’ve got KP who is obviously nowhere near ready to return even to Div 3. Should they have just started off with a reserves team this season so they could slowly build up their senior team and supporter base again? Who knows but I’m also not being paid to administer this league.

And as it stands now it looks like one or both of the premiership teams last year who moved up may sadly drop right back down again next season leaving them with a massive financial hit by moving up and then trying to reestablish support, etc. All of this is making the league look like a joke.

Did anyone from the EDFL even spend a moment to consider if KP would be a viable competitor this season? Or try to come up with an alternative? What a mess and I feel for their supporters. As for Jacana obviously the EDFL is playing ostrich and hoping no one will notice which is just shameful

The way things are going there may only be 2?divisions because all the teams in 3rd division will be killed off....

unfortunately money talks and if you’re not in that little bubble around the Essendon area you’re way down the pecking order.

I’ve been involved with two sides that are in this division and both clubs had the exact identical problems, the horses back will break at some point....

Yeah I completely agree. For the past several years I’ve either been involved in or observed discussions where people would say as much as you’d love to win a premiership you almost hope the club doesn’t because once the buzz of the win starts to fade, reality strikes. How do you pay players who command a larger fee? How do you attract sponsors when you’re getting belted every week? How do you retain players when they’re watching other teams succeed while yours is struggling in every aspect?

I always laughed at first thinking it was just people making excuses for a club’s performance but watching what’s been happening the past few years I completely understand now. Some of these clubs are getting absolutely battered whether in the scoreboard, in the bank account or both.

And when it’s happening across all three divs surely the edfl must acknowledge something needs to change. Maybe I’m dreaming though

I think he actually coach Jacana to a premiership back in the RDFL and has coached westy ,A/hieghts as well so has been around the traps so hopefully he can bring some people with him to help the club back on the field !

Jacana appoint new coach Paul Houston ?

As mentioned:
Paul Houston officially announced as coach of Jacana for the remainder of 2019.

Good appointment as Paul is a past player and coach of Jacana with family ties to the club. Gone back to help the club during this tough time.

Paul is an experienced well respected coach who has previously coached Avondale Heights, Westmeadows, as well as stints with Kyneton (Bendigo League) and Darly (Ballarat league).
The club is calling out to past and new players who want to have a kick to contact the club, or come down to training on Thursday nights 6-7:30pm. *only 1 night training at this stage.

The club is offering incentives for best players each week.

Also I’m told Cam Cloke has decided to stay on and support Paul and the club, by continuing to play each week.

As a football community we need to get behind clubs willing to fight out the tough times. I’m sure Jacana FC would appreciate the support of the football world.

Good luck to the Jags..

Mate I agree with you, my comment was definitely directed at the league, imo if something isn’t done there will be 6 teams in div 3 where 2 miss out in finals and you play each other 3-4 times. The league needs to help those clubs in the north that due to where they are situated are struggling with numbers because of soccer and other things.
The answer isn’t to keep taking teams 1 hr drive out of the region to top the league up...

I’m not having a dig at SK but let’s help the clubs struggling before more fold

Oh hang on, they’re not premier teams.....

A little contradicting there, fearing only having 6 teams with 2 missing finals, but stating the league needs to look after the clubs nit bringing in teams on the outer.
Do you really believe that bringing in a side like Sunbury is making exiting teams vulnerable, I think there are fishing in a different pool for their players and not stripping opposition sides.
P.S The drive to Sunbury from "The Region" would be at most 30 minutes (From Moonee valley or Coburg) no different to getting stuck in traffic in "the Region" :p

If Cloke is staying at Jacana why has he put in for clearance to Northern League

Hey Kanga, I did see that clearance on the web site but nothing yet on the NFNL clearance page. I guess anything is possible but what i heard is he could be staying on now that Paul Houston has been appointed coach.

It’s on there now to Hurstbridge

In fairness to Oak Park they had 2 3rds teams before all this happened. So if your trying to cause trouble maybe get your facts straight first.
no one is trying to cause trouble mate ,I sn't the football manager at Oak park a x Jacana player and a few other Jacana boys down there that he has recruited as well prior to the latest issues !

I don’t feel it’s contradicting I’m worried for the local teams of the Comp....

There have been murmurs more rdfl teams further than sunbury want to come across. It’s not really edfl is it then???

Have you got any theories on how to help fix the Comp??

Or just pick apart what I say???

100% correct. The north is a mess and only getting worse. Needs serious League, AFLVic and AFL involvement or its going to disappear up here
