Anyone give Douttas a chance tomorrow against GV? Have a feeling the bigger grounds may suit Douttas and Cleve Hughes looks like making his debut tomorrow. I've tipped GV but think it'll be a close game.

Avondale really have a season defining game on Sunday evening - lose to Abers and it's a long way back from 0-3

What are peoples thoughts on Sunday games. They do cause a bit of heartburn at some clubs with junior games being played at the same time. Junior players/parents can't be in two places at once

Hey Johndoe, Greenvale looking good so far and believe Douttas might have a few injuries to some gun players.

Avondale will give some teams a headache but they will be better in the second half. I haven't seen them this year but not sure they have covered the loss of their ruckman. Yes Byrne goes well but ruck is not his best position IMO.

Good question you raise re Sunday games. I guess if you can schedule a later game (if you have good lights) it won't affect the juniors as much but it's really only the u/16 game that clashes with the seniors. I guess the money you can raise its worth it but I know a lot of players who prefer playing Saturday's.

Can't tip against douttas
Bugger the head go with heart
Douttas 15 points.
Strathmore 117 points. A.Grima kick 9
Keilor 25 points
Marby 60 points
Abers 85 points. Reimers or kefford might kick a bag. Avondales key back is out.

Good game at Section Rd today with GV just to strong in the end. Douttas look like the real deal though and will seriously push for a finals berth!

Are Airport West that bad? Looking at the scores doesn't seem like they gave a Yelp!

Yep - they are

Any game reports from Pacco / Keilor game? Heard it was a ripper game, PV lead for most of the day, and Keilor kicking away in the last quarter.

Keilor seemed flat in the first half, paco wasted a lot of chances early and probably should have lead by 6-8 goals at half time! Galea was the difference in the 2nd half took a lot of contested marks and kicked 5-6 of his 8 when the game was really in the balance

Hey Freak, I was at the game. Pacco were the better team for the majority game and really should have been more in front at qrt time. However the last qrt Keilor had more run in there legs than Pacco. Keilor hurt them through the middle and wings and got them on the outside. McGuane was held, Bathie was quite and Galea kicked 3 in the second and 3 in the last but was held in the first half.
I'm not sure what happened to Pacco but they just didn't take there chances to put Keilor away and don't kick enough goals through the middle as they seem to want to go short & wide to often in there front half. There was an incident during the 3rd qrt where Keilors #43 dropped his knees into a Pacco player on the ground when he had the ball. It looked really bad to me and I was standing close to the incident. The umpire paid a free kick but it was strange he wasn't reported or that Pacco didn't react to the issue.
It was a very high quality, open, fast game. I thought the ruck duel between Guest & Browne was intriguing and probably even.
Both clubs have good talented players but was it another one of Mick's coaching speeches that got Keilor home. Pacco probably had more quality players but what is Mick worth. His probably the equal of 2-3 players so his worth every cent of what his getting.

I'm glad Galea was held in the first half Turbo. He would have kicked 12 otherwise.

Lol. He only had 2 to half time and 1 was from a free to another player who couldn't take his kick. But Keilor played more direct footy which helped Galea. But as you know his a good player, but shouldn't be allowed to kick 8 against a side like Pacco.

He is as good a contested mark as anyone going around. Has some deficiencies but you need super discipline to hold him for 4 quarters. Pacco are going ok but could easily finish 6th or 7th the comps that strong.

Turbo u need to get the black and red glasses off, after qtr time keilor kicked 19 goals to 10 goals, again in last qtr kicked 10 goals against pacco. But "pacco were better team for makority of day". U r too one eyed.u lose credibilty making so biased comments.
Pacco cant handle continuous agrressive attack on the ball from keilor

I agree Bully. And if Pacco finish 6th or 7th they won't be happy. I think they will only improve and are the 4th best team. They could easily have been 3-0 but didn't put sides away in the first quarters and then they get punished in the last quarters against Keilor and GV. But gee it was a high quality game for 3 quarters.

Pacco were in front for the first 3 quarters. So to me they were the better team for the first 3 quarters, but Keilor won convincingly in the end. But footy is played over 4 qrts not 3. I'm not sure about they can't handle aggressive attack on the footy as both sides went in hard. Keilor were more direct when it counted and there mids took the honours and that's one of Paccos strengths. TBH I thought Keilor would miss Gourdis but they must have good depth.
Anyway the better team won on the day I don't dispute that..

Turbo I admire your parochialism where Pacco is concerned, but seriously have you been on the turps?. To say they could easily be 3-0" is fanciful. Greenvale smashed Pacco by 83 points in round 1. Admittedly Pacco should have been 3-4 goals up at quarter time in that match, but weren't. After that it was largely 1 way traffic to Greenvale.

Looks like you're fighting on 2 fronts at the moment, this and the divvy 2 thread.

Turbo never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Keilor outscored Pacco at Pacco after they got away to a flyer for the last 3 qtrs. Pacco played well in the first qtr only, were outplayed and outcoached easily after that.1 qtr of football aint good enough, outdcored in other 3. Are they unfit or were they worn out

You know what annoys me Stax, not many are willing to post anything to start a conversation, so I put something up and then they all come at me. I was disappointed in the result as are most people at Pacco I guess. Will be interesting to see how they go the next 6 games. They really want to 7-2 or 6-3 at the half way mark and I expect them to improve in the second half.
Yeah I did get to 2 games today.

Went to 2 games over the weekend Greenvale v Douttas pretty good game douttas impressed me hit the front in the last term but greenvale with the wind were to strong. Greenvales midfield are very strong Addam Maric hurt his knee.
Watched Pacco v Keilor yesterday Turbos right should have been further in front. Pacco runs out of puff in the last Keilor gets a sniff and smashes them. That's twice now they've been run over looks to me they have fitness problems.

Early days into the season but a couple of 8 point games this round, PV v mp & ends v ah. Assuming Ke, ab & GV fill top 3 and sm struggling, 1 of these 4 teams should get 4th spot so huge advantage to chalk up a win.pv & Eds my selection, all other games the favs.

Pacco may have been in front for three quarters, but it does not mean they were the better team for three quarters.
Quarter by quarter scores paint the picture.
First PV 4.4 Kel 1.2 Second PV 4.3 Kel 6.2 Third PV 4.2 Kel 5.1 Fourth PV 2.0 Kel 8.2
On the scoreboard, Pascoe Vale only won the first quarter. Sure it took time for Keilor to get in front, but they were continually closing the gap in the second and third. On that basis your comment does not pass the "pub" test.

Turbo, is it a fitness issue with PV running out of steam late in games? Do then need to look at hour the pre-season was run? Pre-seasons are becoming more and more importance, the league is that close that any advantage will go a long way.

Not much said regarding the other games this weekend, it was a big day out Coburg City Oval on Sunday. WC had a 10 reunion of their 06 grand final win over Marby and that may have spurred the boys to get up in the end. High level game which was played at great speed, fair to say a few of us old boys would struggle to play the game the way it is now. The game was played in good spirits and either team could have walked away with the 4 points. WC losing O. Abdullah this week and O. Saad last week is testing their depths, but Digby has them on the right track. I did say prior to the season the WC will surprise a few teams, Marby being the first. It only goes to show that if you aren’t switched for all games in this league, you may not walk away with the 4 points.
