Well said mate, much appreciated;)

I was at a function last night and telling everyone about how the players from Marby & Pacco formed the line for the minutes silence. Both clubs players mixed on both sides of the umpires and standing along the square line, all facing the clubrooms.
I personally thought this to be a great show of respect. The people I was talking to are going to try get the juniors to do it today at their club.

Did any other clubs do it like this?? It would be great if someone posted a picture on one of the EDFL sites for all to see.

I congratulate both clubs..

The standard of football doesn't allow for kids to come through and play in the ruck.

Yeah fair comment, however these days a running ruckman can be dangerous. But your right some big boys in premier league, but not as many as past years like Philpot etc.. Probably Greenvale and Avondale have big bodied ruckman as well as Strathmore's Winter & Paccos Tydell when they go into the ruck.
Marby looked to have some younger athletic type ruckman who did pretty well though..Not sure how old they were but looked between 19-23..

Anyway point taken mate..

Greenvale boasting about beating Northern by a record margin on twitter is poor form in my opinion.

Great initiative by the league and clubs - my understanding is all clubs were asked to do it - there was a lot of social media activity about this including photos on the weekend as well as the #stepbackthink campaign.

Admittedly I'm not great with instagram but I think you'll find that the Greenvale twitter account shared Huckys photo which mentioned the scoreline.

Why wouldn't they boast? Great effort to kick 48 goals - this is Premier League, if it's too hot get out of the kitchen

On Gus....

Pre season - Strathmore needed a Ruckman to replace Jones - they got Sikora & Potter however Potter more to replace Dick Little.

As a result Pacco needed a Ruckman so they got Kerlin.

Greenvale needed a Ruckman so they got DeLuca.

Blakey has unfortunately had ongoing back issues hence his inability to play this year. He was fantastic last year and let's not forget won the league medal.

Johnsy, Jack Mac & Cravo have all performed admirably to date mind you but getting talent like Gus in to help these guys, our midfield and our emerging junior ruck stocks is a great result.
Just so we're clear!!.. One of the reasons you have recruited Gus to your club is to help your emerging junior ruck stocks!!.. Please!!.. #knowyourplayersattributes

Just so we're clear - I was wrong saying Turbo's Mail and You are one in the same.

As mentioned last week by a fellow poster - you most definitely are Shadow Master and no doubt we're all in for a world of pain with the ongoing crap posted a few months ago.

"whatever pathetic saying you used at the bottom of every post"

Boring!

Just so we're clear - you went to St. Bernard's home ground - the Snakepit - to watch a work mates son play and you went and started conversation with parents who all happened to have kids who've played at Abers before. Please!!

If true then who are these families you've spoken to? I'd be interested to know and we'd certainly follow up as there's no one we know of who left for your reasons.

What about those families who've started/moved to the VAFA and then came or returned to our club due to lack of opportunities or just as importantly realised the grass wasn't greener a couple of km's down Buckley St.

I think it's been said before - JustOverHere/Turbo's Mail appear to be one in the same!
Just so we're clear!!.. You want me to provide you with the names of players that have departed your club in recent years because of a lack of opportunity!!.. Please!!.. #doyourowndirtywork

On a separate note!!.. I wonder who will be squeezed out of the senior side in coming weeks when club stalwarts W.Patak, B.Vassal and A.Graham all return from injury!!.. No prizes for guessing who!!.. #wedevelopfromwithin

Puff - Yeah if you go to EDFL Twitter someone has posted a picture of the Marby v Pacco minutes silence line up.. I understand the purpose of the minute silence, but who thought to line up in that manner where players from both sides mixing.
I seen the Aber v Strathmore line up and it was as per the traditional set up..

That was my original comment and interested to hear people's thoughts.

Lining up as a 'mixed team' was driven by the players to show they were all as one in their support for Mo his family and the Northern Saints.

Cheers mate. Probably something both Castello & Ross would do as good leaders/people, and would know each other from when both were at Werribee. The game was also played in good spirit.

Kudos to them!!

You will find that this initiative was started by the Northern Saints Football Club along with the Avdondale Football Club. It started in their U18's game, no minute silence offcourse as the tragedy hadn't occured until the 2nds game. Just both teams lining up with both coaches wishing players from both sides luck, then umpires chatting to both teams and officials and advising what will be focused on and what is expected, then respective captains coming up, pick the balls, toss the coins, then officials exchange hand shakes and best wishes then in turn with umpires and then finally the players. It sets a great example for young players especially in the 18's and the tone of the game is then set. Pictures were taken of this so if anyone from the one of the clubs have it they should post it. I think the Saints will be doing a story on it soon. I congratulate the Saints on coming up with this and the Heights footy club. I am sure someone from the heights footy club will confirm what I have said. The Saints U18's did this again before the Greenvale game, and I understand would like to do it for every game. This should be done as a matter of course for every game, sets the tone and the spirit with which we want the game to be played. Time isn't a problem, sides just go out a few minutes before. I am proud of the club and their initiative. I think they put the proposal forward to the EDFL.

Well well, sitting top of the ladder unbeaten after 8 rounds and go and recruit another big name player. Where does it stop for clubs like Abers.. Answer is it doesn't..
We all talk about junior programs but where is a young ruckman from Abers junior program?? Surely a good time to blood a young kid. "No" go and buy one..
Surely no one thinks this is a good situation for a club like Abers when they rave on about their juniors..

Hope Pacco smash em in the finals!!
A 19 yo competing against Deluca, Browne, Sikora, Walsh etc..... Please, enough nonsense.

Shags ~ not nonsense I believe it's a great chance for someone to step up as none of the ruckman you mentioned are crash & bash type ruckman. I suppose the situation can be looked upon two ways.

1- go and find a replacement which you have done. I admit your found a good one "but" an expensive one..

2 - as you are undefeated give a seconds player or younger guy an opportunity to play ruck, or key position and stick with the current ruckman. The results thus far, show Abers to be clear favourites so is buying a ruckman in mid season a good business decision? Can Abers win a GF without a true regonized ruck. Well so far the answer is yes they can. Time will tell I guess..

It looks to me they have taken the easy option, or are they slightly concerned about the challengers! Keep in mind Abers beat Pacco by 70pts without a regonized ruck. But Greenvale are a pretty tall side.

Anyway it's a "big name" recruit so naturally enough there will be some discussion around it on this forum.

Does the points system stipulate if a mid season signing is classed as playing 1 year or not with regards to lowering a players points??

The 2nd one might be a bit OTT, but only marginally. I thought the first tweet was great and by the sounds of it Greenvale were fantastic. In fact from some of the pics I saw many clubs united as one in respect of Moe and the mighty Sainters.

Reality is that young good ruckman are either at higher levels or they don't exist.

It appears to be simply promoting their new score board. Which if i read the post correctly, will be showing live footage of the games? is this a first in the league?

It shapes up to be a cracker this Saturday. Will Gus Graham play? Rumours out of the country suggest he wasn't happy. Majority of Albury players work for their major sponsor. With the O'halphins up there, potentially limited opportunity fort the big man? Hard to see it not being financially related.

Greenvale certainly got the percentage back from what was lost at Strathmore.

Half way point of the season.

top 3 looked locked. Who slips into 4th?

Early call but who ever loses the first final out of 1 v 2 could face a rampaging 3rd place side with confidence up from the previous weeks defeat of 4th you would imagine.

your loyalty is split between Keilor Park and now Pascoe Vale, and other clubs bandwagon you got on in the past.

Some people will do anything to get their post count up. :)

Seriously though, I think most of us read the 3 threads so only need to post it once.
