Missed the opening, but the jist is some lawyer going over the Asada/AFL rules regarding the scenario. Basically said that ignorance is an legitimate excuse if it can be proven. Best part was he was chuckling every time KB went off on a bs rant.

I assume the signed consent forms would be used to determine who took what.

So it comes down to how specific the consent forms are then? If they specifically mention "you WILL be injected with X" and X is illegal then the players could be in trouble. Hopefully the forms were instead more along the lines of "you MAY be injected with X, Y or Z over the course of the year...".

the consent forms were requested by the players to guarantee what they were taking was legal. Hence, they can't really be blamed

no chance we won't Kong. The "waivers" exonerate the players. They will play. Just means the club would be in some serious financial shit potentially. Worst case scenario.

Lance how do the "waivers" exonerate players if the substances injected were banned?

Skinny on my understanding (limited and built out of the current kurfuffle) players found to have been part of a program where by substances that are not approved have been administered would face a potential 2 year ban.

The club itself would not face such a sanction it would be the players. That is where I get to filtering through the myriads of shite spewing fourth at the moment.

As a side note I am just interested and not here to take shots at you lot.

because the players could have taken no more possible steps to ensure they were clean.

This is the opinion of a barrister, not me.

There can be no other sensible conclusion. For all of the bluster in parts of the WADA code is it really a better position for individuals with no expertise to be making determinations of what is legal and what isn't.

'One club is currently under investigation' - explains the looks on Hird & co's faces the other day & unfortunately now there's little doubt which club that is

I'm not worried until an actual fact of what has happened comes out.

So far the club has found a discrepancy somewhere and have come forward to the afl, asada and the public saying there *may* be an issue and would like it investigated.

Since then the media (especially radio) has come up with 1001 theories and vague links, where the truth is they are all just assumptions and they need to publish something. The whole thing is becoming bad because the media just make up assumptions as to what it might be and keep needing to one up themselves.

All there stories have 1 thing in common - they don't know any facts and are just making shit up.

Needles - must be this
Form - must be that
Drugs - must be organised crime

So i think we all just need to wait for afl/asada to complete their investigation and for them or the club to come out with the results of the investigation. Until then all it is is just rumour.

Rest easy, these are indeed separate investigations.

I reckon the investigation involved Dank (not primarily the club). Feds informed Essendon of this fact within the past week. Previous investigations within the club to make sure everything was above board which turned up clean, are now in doubt. This new information they received which put this into doubt made them raise the white flag as they don't have access to the data, so have called in the big boys to fine tooth comb it all.

This sounds like the reasonable explanation for all this.

Its speculation even the report is hearsay.

While the level of suspected use of peptides varies between sporting codes, officials
from one club have been identified as administering, via injections and intravenous drips,
a variety of substances, possibly including peptides. Moreover, the substances were
administered at levels which were possibly in breach of WADA anti-doping rules.

Basically the same that we've heard the last couple of days. It doesn't look good, but not the end of the line.
