Heard about this last night...bloody practice matches!!!

WCE News Article:

Embley out for eight weeks
12 March 2001
Tenacious young West Coast Eagles forward Andrew Embley could be sidelined for up to two months after an incident late in a practice game against Adelaide at Football Park on Saturday.

Embley received a shoulder injury in that collision and tests today revealed that he could miss about eight weeks. His arm will be immobilised for several weeks before he begins the process of rebuilding the strength in the shoulder.

The loss of Embley comes as a body blow after rugged defender Phil Read was last week ruled out for the rest of the season because he needed a knee reconstruction.

Amid the gloom, however, there is some good news.

Midfielder Michael Braun, ruckman Michael Gardiner, champion Peter Matera and star forward Scott Cummings are all expected to play in next Saturday’s practice match against the Western Bulldogs at Subiaco Oval.

There is also a chance that Fremantle recruit Trent Carroll (ankle) and forward Andrew Donnelly (knee) will be ready to resume. Carroll rolled his ankle while training a couple of weeks ago, having been suspended for two games in his only match in West Coast colours in the first round pre-season game against the Kangaroos.

Donnelly is likely to play with his WAFL club Subiaco in the Governor’s Cup competition this week.

With key players Ben Cousins, Richard Taylor, Glen Jakovich and Mark Merenda all emerging unscathed from the Adelaide game there are positive vibes through the club as it prepares for the first round game against Geelong at Shell Stadium.

This week’s game against the Bulldogs is the last chance for West Coast fans to see their team play at Subiaco Oval before the second round match against Sydney on April 8.

The admission price for this week’s game is $10 while members will be charged $5, concession card holders will pay $5 while members with a concession card will pay $2. Children will be charged $2 and child members will be admitted free of charge.

Its not all about his injury but anyway...

I agree Frodo. Its bad that hes out for 8 weeks but i think some rookies look really good and i think we have more depth this year to cover the losses of Read and Embly. I always put Embly and Williams in the same group, i dont know why maybe it because there the same type of player. But i like Williams better anyway.
