Fantastic turnout and a fantastic atmosphere. Shame I couldn't be there.

There's something exciting building and this is one of the few times since 2001 - WC (2007) & BL (2003) being exceptions - the crowd has really got involved.

From my seat, level 1 about 50m from the cheersquad, the view was amazing- Damn near every single person around us had their scarf out and was waving it and spinning it like crazy. One of the few times I've been at the game and got totally sidetracked from the game because of the atmosphere around the stadium.

The roar Hirdy got when he walked down to the ground was immense too... We didn't notice the WCE goal down the other end

I was on the exact opposite side of the ground to where Hirdy did his walk of triumph and you could hear the crowd going absolutely ape-shit, as of course were we as well.

The twirl was simply incredible. Love how it broke out with about 5 min to go, then afterwards was great, had a sore arm

Same. Sitting about 10 rows behind the cheer squad, the noise was amazing. The atmosphere at the G is great for huge games (anzac day etc) but i love turning up to etihad for home night games, knowing the roof is going to be closed. The noise from bombers fans is amplified as it doesn't get a chance to escape through the open roof.

Agree as well with the scarf waving. Aside from the weagles cheersquad and out to about 50 m from their goals around the boundary, the whole crowd was a sea of red and black scarfs and it looked bloody awesome.

Yeah, thought considering the occasion that 43k was still a tad disappointing- I was expecting closer to 47-48k.

In hindsight that was a very good day!

Having a look at the fixture in 2010 and that match in particular, it was on the back of a 5 match losing streak.

There will always be bandwagoners, but it is not that big a deal. I am enjoying the footy now and am able to appreciate it even more having been to most Essendon games in Melbourne over the last 4 or so years.

Disappointing to only get 43k but still was a great atmosphere. It was packed where I sit. Usually a few extra seats around where I sit but they were all filled last night.

Loved the Dempsey run down right in front of us. Everyone was up and about.

I remember thinking during the last qurater that I can understand the clubs decision to attached a reserved seat to every membership (the decision didn't effect me). It felt like a true home ground and something that we've had to deal with every year in Perth.

with 'our' propensity to booo every bad umpiring decision and bey for everyone one we think we should get i reckon it actually influences the umpires.

The mobs over in adelaide and the west have had it for years... parochial crowds that infulence the umps calls.... i reckon we get it when its a heaving cauldron like on sat night.

how could you not crumble under that kind of crowd pressure

Crowd was great, though still far too quiet when the match is in the balance. Would love some more chants and noise to encourage and inspire the boys in the first quarter/half!

Yea... I don't get why people would choose to do something else with their Saturday night when they can watch a rabble coached by a moron... It makes no sense to me... Makes even less sense that more people would want to go to watch a side winning.

Booing is embarrassing endightment on anyone that does it. I've noticed it creeping into Bombers games more than ever this year and I hope it corrects itself.

Can you explain why? If an opposition player is going for a shot for goal, why not try and put them off?

I love the scarf waving thing. Looks great in the Bundesliga and other euro soccer leagues and is unique to AFL. I hope we make it our own.

IMO It's outside the spirit of how footy should be spectated. It's a reflection on the individuals that do it. Many will have a different opinion but it's ugly and shows a lack of football intelligence.

If you want to boo someone while they're having a shot on goal as a way of puting them off their kick, so be it but it makes you look like a goose. What's crept in much more across many teams this year is the ongoing booing of every second umpiring decision which is embarrassing. This was traditionally something mainly reserved for the Adelaide morons.

When Nick Riewoldt, Adam Goodes and Hamish McIntosh were having a shot for goal after the siren to beat us, what did you do? I think there are certain moments where trying to put off an opposition player going for a goal is worthwhile.

I agree that booing at certain times is not on. There is no point booing every second umpiring decision, they get it right most of the time. And I get annoyed when people boo certain players just because they are great footballers.

But back on topic, the atmosphere at the game last Saturday night was fantastic and it would be great if we could create that kind of noise and chanting at every home game.
