Have a week off , well timed. With troops coming back we have some decisions to make, reward the kids? Which kids deserve a spot and who were just marking time?

If we assume all of Durham, Langford, Redman, Ridley, Reid, el Hawli are fit to return , along with a rested Goldy, who stays, who goes?

Of the newbies I'd lean towards Johnson, Clarke, May keeping their spots, something like

Wouldn't mind Langford floating back a bit rather than another midsized tall fwd

Interesting selection dilemmas coming up for sure Howie.

Prior played his best game for us last night so can’t see him being omitted seeing as they were playing him when he was a liability. Johnson might be the unlucky omission if that’s the case. Maybe Johnson stays in as sub.

Lual really impressed me too but he won’t hold his spot.

Vigo will surely go back to continue his growth at VFL level. Named an emergency perhaps.

How bad is Duursma’s hammy ‘awareness’?

I have McGrath, Hobbs, Perkins, Gresham and setterfield out
I think if Draper goes we need to be prepared and visentini deserves another shot.

He has an x-factor we haven't had since Tippa IMO.

Had 2 or 3 intercept plays that are worth their gold in the modern game.

Agree we can’t bring everyone in at once (or drop everyone).
Lav and Prior have been pretty solid in a completely undermanned defence for the last month so they stay for now and I'd give Ridley (or Reid) another week or 2 no point rushing key players back potentially underdone..
Likewise if there's any doubt at all with Duursma then we shouldn't risk him, Perkins and Hobbs have been poo & should go back to the reserves but Brad wont drop Perkins. So early shout I’d go;-

OUT: Duursma, Hobbs, Blaki, Vigo
IN: Durham, Redman, Reid, Goldy

I thought Tsatas was a lot better all around in the VFL and I am usually a critic but I think he should come in.

Blakiston would be a bit unlucky but assuming Reid and Redman come back he misses out.

I’ve tried to pick a hypothetical team a few times and I’ve really struggled. Especially with finding spots for all of Johnson, Clarke and Loul. Who I think have shown enough to get a regular gig.

I'd send Gresh to the showers and keep Lual. At least he plays a team game and plays physically.

My initial thought when I wrote this up was probably Parish as sub, Tsatas in his position. Perkins out with Caldwell probably going forward.

Watching the first quarter against Freo, Gresham and Caldwell were the major **** ups. McGrath was damn good. Guess things must have changed over the game, but does confirm for me that McGrath is good when the team is good. When things fall apart he gets lost.
