A Hawks fan squeaking lack of value, the product is overpriced - there is too much footy in Melbourne when fans think like this?

There may or may not be too much footy in Melbourne, but that is not my point.

I don't like seeing passionate supporters getting dragged further and further up the top of level 4 for matches that draw sub 50,000 fans.

My personal preference is that the AFL focus on keeping cheap seats cheap and let the market decide the price of food providing punters have the option to BYO if they feel they are being ripped off.

They say free entry for kids under 15 for Sunday games. Alright AFL but what happens if there are highly ticketed games on Sunday's?

Yep, certainly not many blockbusters in that list !!

Call me sceptical, but considering you have the reigning wooden spooner playing in about 7 of 22 Sunday games and Essendon in about 4-5 of them, sounds like it's a bit of the AFL and Etihad doing some forward thinking.. if StKilda look like heading towards the bottom again their fans will drop off.. and if Essendon get ASADA'd don't know how many will want to see a temporary Essendon team play. Carlton also have 2 Sunday games there this year too, which hopefully might entice some of today's youth to jump back on the bandwagon...

Also some very interesting stats in there. I note that even a powerhouse like Collingwood struggled to draw a large crowd against WB, as did Carlton against St Kilda. 30k on a Sunday appears a decent figure for Melbourne teams and 20k about par for established non Victorian ones. North's crowd against GC is a good result. (Well aware that there is a lot of variance between the various Sunday timeslots, Easter Sunday / Mother's Day etc can create outliers as can a long weekend with the Sunday game inside it.

Still those who complain about equalisation need to take a decent look at these figures.

$3 is still a rip off for a pie, and what about the chips etc? We get ripped off left right and center in Australia and we gladly let them do it.

A lot of the initiatives are aimed at kids (and therefore, by extension, families), which is a very smart thing when you have a family with 3 or more kids, you can get them in and feed them for next to nothing, and then have a kick on the ground after.

As a single person, though, it won't affect me at all, and I already get onto the ground at the VFL (where the surface of most grounds don't smell like plastic and chemicals) if I want, so I'll still go along as much as I used to. But if it improves our crowds (we have a lot of Sunday games) even 5%, it's worth it.

Why do clubs that benefit from the fixturing not fund the equalisation is my whinge.

Have at for mine. I've said for a long time that likely the only way to force change will be the non Vic clubs standing with the smaller Vic clubs.

Equalisation as it would be defined currently is basically a Melbourne problem, whats in it for the established footy States (SA & WA) where travel is the most unequal issue, and its a different again for the development States (player retention is probably the biggest issue here).

In the current food pricing scenario its about the Melbourne crowds, dressed up as for the fans & you only have to read this thread to see how well the AFL have sold it to an unquestioning footy public.

The footy clubs that benefit from the Melbourne fixturing need to pay for the benefit gained not the AFL, & until then nothing will happen, JB needs to man up, Gordon is part of the problem, he's a welfare is fine merchant, who is running the Saints now, Melbourne are in denial, Australias oldest club deserves to be treated as establishment ?
Get together as a block boys, Eddie will dismiss you out of hand, a fair go is not easily gained from an establishment used to getting their own way,

11 Sunday afternoon games at Etihad is ridiculous, I feel sorry for Dogs fans

So he has no control, but you say he's 'only' doing it for Vics????

Or are you finally coming around to the idea that the stadia have decided it's in their interests to do this for themselves?
If it was not in their interest, they wouldn't do it. This doesn't mean they didn't have to be pushed in to it, plenty of organisations/people need to be nudged into acting in their own interests.
