Anyone know any good places for finding caps?

Safes mainly.

But honestly mate, the best way to make caps is to earn them by selling things.

Go out on a few trips just exploring rather than doing missions, preferably in an area with lots of raiders. Kill them, take their weapons and armour, then quicktravel back to megaton and sell them.

Another tip, is most weapons and armour you pick up are in poor shape and not worth much. Try to find multiples of the same item, and then repair them up to good condition. Not only will it make them worth far more, it'll allow you to carry more items before becoming overburdened.

Using this method, you'll soon have more caps than you can jump over.

yeah the only thing is that when i go out and kill the raiders most of the time when i return i'll be pretty badly hurt and have too spend the money i receive for weapons, armor etc, on health.

Have you defused the bomb in Megaton? If so then you will be given a house there where you can sleep and regain your health. That's what i do anyway, going to the doctor is just far too expensive, especially if you're early in the game like me.

Yep, or just find a bed anywhere in the wastes and sleep. Remember where it is and you can keep returning when you need a health regeneration.

There's one in arefu unlocked when you complete the blood ties mission. I used that heaps.

The only time i ever used a doc was very early on in my first playthrough, one cured a couple of addictions. I never used one for health, thats a major waste of caps.

Ok thanks for the tips. I just need help for one more thing. How do you know what to do when hacking into a computer? I have good hacking and science knowledge but when i get too a computer i haven't got a clue of what i have to do.

Try the first 3 and if no success exit and try again. You will have it within 5 or 6 goes maximum. Easier than using your brain:cool:

And remember the brackets trick. If you see anything like this {}, [], (), click it and you either get your allowance replenished or a dud removed.

Don't think so mate. They're much easier to kill once you level up, so if they do its to a lesser extent than you

All your luck and aiming skill improves too mate. Makes it really easy to get critical hits with the first shot in VATS.

One shot kills with the hunting rifle for weak stuff like ghouls

Anyone else a little disspaointed with the ending / endings?

Also Highlight --> What a bit of a shit you can't send the super mutant Fawkes in to turn that shit on.

Still an awesome game though.

Only because it was the end of an awesome game, and you can't continue on afterwards

Although apparently thats being changed with the 360 DLC. The ending changes and you can continue on, leveling up another 10 levels

started playing this today but didn't really get much accomplished...

seems like an extraordinarily detailed game with ridiculous amounts of stuff to do...like...i literally can't think of how long it would've taken to put this all together

progress seems kind of slow and i get sidetracked very easily but overall the game seems pretty great

i doubt i will play it from start to finish...more likely play every now and again and end up finishing it that way

i can see how people got so sucked into it.

Anybody else think that Bethesda have a pretty warped view of whats good and bad after completing the Tenpenny Tower quest?

I was nice and let those Ghouls in, giving me good karma. Then, I came back and they had slaughtered everybody.

DAMNIT I said, but it was okay for I had a minigun and was going to show Roy and his wife what I do to bastards who betray my trust. However, upon killing them I got bad karma!

What the hell? These guys deserved to die, I was doing good

Nah, but i agree this quest was a tough one to do with good karma.

Its pretty obvious the ghouls are going to kill everyone when you let them into the tower mate, they don't exactly have many good things to say about the humans

Visa versa, killing the ghouls when they just want to be treated equally isn't going to get you good karma either.

Both of these options will give you bad karma.

The only way to do this mission with good karma is to reason with both parties, until they decide on a peaceful solution. And the only way to do that is to have enough charisma/speech ability

I was really surprised that the Ghouls killed Mr Tenpenny and co. I was shocked... So I went over to the Ghould and shot him with my combat shotgun. Take that! You ugly zombie!

I then sold his ear to that fella in the scrapyard :D

what did you guys do too be the one that granted the ghouls permission to enter?

One of the options when you speak to the ghouls is a plea for them to try and work it out with the humans in a peaceful manner. But this option is a "speech" option, ie an option that chances of success depend on your charisma.

In order for you to succeed, you'll need to have good charisma. One option is to just this value in you skills. If you charisma is crap, you'll need some help by wearing certain items of clothes (regulators outfit i think helps) or some of the potions (queen fire ant pheromone?)

Going by memory here, but there's some items that up your charisma anyway
