What's the advantage of building heaps of settlements?

I've only got a small one at the sanctuary and can't really be bothered making another. I find the building too hard.
I guess if you had lots of settlements with shops and water purifiers you could get fat stacks of caps and purified water.

Wow they wanted more defence, chucked some sents up and it seems resolved.
Hopefully people will come, wish I could convince those at the settlement nearby, that I can't be assed improving, to come over on to Sanctuary.
Have you got a siren thingy to attract settlers? Needs to be attached to a generator too

I got a recruitment beacon thingy, I heard Travis talk about it as well.
I think I might have put a speaker or siren down a while ago but forgot about it

Some reason 10 of them are at some other place that has NOTHING and 2% happiness.
Meanwhile I'm stuck on 6 with 80% happiness.
Really don't get it.

You should be able to tell the 10 to change which settlement they are at in the building menu.

if happiness is dropping at one of your settlements and you can't figure out why then try speaking to your settlers. One of them will probably have a mini quest for you( Most likely one of their friends have been kidnapped and need saving). This has happened at a couple of my settlements so far.

Regarding stat bobbleheads and being able to boost maxed out stats from 10 -> 11 with a bobblehead, if you find a bobblehead at level 9 does it prevent you from being able to drop another point in it later to get it to 11 or is it then capped at 10?

Also has anybody come across any good guides for setting up settlement shops and establishing supply runs to maximise caps?

Wow, finally spent some time building up Sanctuary. Fully walled the place similiar to a big city - holy shit, not very user friendlY. The only entrance I have is from the Bridge with about 10 turrets (inc grenade launcher turrets - hello gun nut lvl 3), 5 guard post at the bridge - good luck raiders. TIP: when scavenging try n collect some human skullS, as one of the miscellaneous items is a poll with human heads on it - I WANT THESE! Just got local leader 2 to setup shops n shit. Seriously considering sending ALL of my settlers to Sanctuary n just having that as one bossed out base. No way am i setting up other settlements like i did Sanctuay, way too time consuming...

From the sounds of it building water purifiers and trading water is quicker.

Because sometimes people would rather grow more melons than get eaten by a gigantic nuclear scorpion.

I broke up a drug deal last night. Put on my nicest suit and hat, tried to get everyone to leave peacefully but they were having none of it. It was a bit hairy because they all had tommy guns

After i killed them all and took their guns and valuables, i searched some crates near the deal.

60 Jet, 60 Buffout, 60 Mentats

Of course because i am a man of virtue i dumped it all in the river.

lol jks. I kept 10 of each for myself for personal use and crafting, the rest have been shopped around every caravan trader and shifty dealer in the commonwealth until they have no caps left to give. I'm now riiiich

Stats aren't maxed out at 10 apparently.

You can have 10 for charisma for instance, wear a +2 CHR suit and be 12 charisma

I did that quest last night, I now have enough Bufftats and Psycojet and Jet Fuel to last me a life time.
Pop one of each and just laugh at Deathclaws, happy times.

I think stats max out at 15, 10 base max then +5 from your armor.

Also having the same problem with supply lines. I assumed as you did I'd be able to grab stuff from the workshop, but nup. has me stumped.

OK figured it out, it actually does work, just another one of those things thats not explained very well (ie. at all)

The shared junk items don't show up when you look in that settlements workshop, it'll only show stuff you have physically stored in that location yourself. Only way you can see how much total steel/wood/whatever you have is by going into the build menu and selecting something to construct - total available materials for whatever structure you've selected are the same across settlements linked with supply routes.

Ahh, that is interesting. I have some sites with copious wood/steel but other with sweet FA. Good to know that once supply routes set up you can share those.

Buffjet is where its at.

Slows time plus increases your damage/damage resistance

Just equip your most powerful auto weapon and destroy anything that is in range (no need for VATS, you aren't going to miss). It's brutal
