My settlers seem pretty reasonable there and have my first two headed cow there.

I think it will become my main settlement. Spent hours building a big building there yesterday but wasn't happy when the roof went on and wouldn't line up properly so tore it down and started again.
Where did you find the people to settle there? And can you purify that water and use it?

Right, who can I get to come settle at the drive in? Seems to be mostly raiders around the area.
It and sanctuary are my two big settlements. I've got a pretty good mix of people there- quite a few ghouls. I think it's random who you get. I have sent one or two people I've come across there but other than that it's just luck of the draw

I put up the beacon, put in a couple of water pumps, some machine gun turrets, planted some food and made a few beds and they started to trickle in.

Purify as in be able to get the inventory item 'purified water'? I don't think so but if you can then please do tell.

If you want to purify it for your settlers, possibly, although I've got 20 people there and am still using pumps just fine. There are other, more obvious settlements to use those big purifiers on but at the end of the day they only give your settlers water.

Level 28 now, this is my dude so far:

S - 3
P - 5
perks: rifleman2, locksmith3
E - 4 perks: chem resistant 2 (no addiction to chems!)
C - 8 perks: Companion 1, local leader 1
I - 8 perks: Gun Nut3, Science1, Crazy Scientiest 2 (makes chems last longer)
A -5 perks: Action boy2,
L - 4 perks: Mysterious Stranger1, Bloody Mess2, Scrounger1

Loaded up early game adding points to my special as there are some wicked perks i wanted to pick up later in the game.

Weapons: Have a range of modded weapons - cannot place greater importance on loading up on gun nut perk if you are into ranged weaponry. Long range: 98 DMG Silenced sniper rifle that tracks enemies on map. Medium range: 102DMG hunting rifle (no scope, hip shot & VATS special weapon). Short range: 98 DMG Shotgun. Have a wicked .44 revolver & a fully loaded flamer & missile launcher for bosses.

Armour: About 3 combat suits, and if have received a wicked non combat armour suit that you will pick up if following the story. I need to get Armourer perk to allow for armour customization - but am not down with arm/leg/body armour as is so heavy - need dat loot space! Not a big combat armour user, i love rockin round with my sunglasses (Perception +1 bonus), and badass skull bandanna over my face. Pimpin!

Companions: Have partnered up with Cait - dont wanna say too much in case of spoilers, but this chic is wicked! Can locksmith difficult locks if you're not leveled up for lockpicking early and she loves it when i steal, murder & use chems. Good in a fight unlike some other companions i've tried too.

Settlements: Havent done a great deal with the settlements as yet, loaded up on defenses at Sanctuary, and basically using it as home base for all companions not currently in use. Just started to figure out creating supply lines but as other players have stated, it isnt really linking up my workshop items which is annoying as hell.

Current Level/perks: Love using chems to gain damage bonuses, and really looked to get chem resistance full perk early on. Gun nut lvl. 3 makes some wicked gun mods! Bloody mess for DMG bonus & lols. Action boy underrated perk - a must for me! Science is also a good one for gun modding. Took scrounger as i was struggling early on for ammo & didnt wanna spend heaps of caps.

Future levelling/perks: Really wanna build up my Endurance - i think this is an underrated special, as the perk on lvl. 9 Endurance for radiation actually healing you i think would be one of the best ones - ghouls dont attack you, and you can go to irradiated areas to heal health - awesome! Also want high Perception to unlock the Sniper perk, as blowing the heads off of long distance enemies that cant detect you is awesome! Mysterious stranger i will probs level out, as he is awesome to finish off bosses etc.

Anyways, hope there are no spoilers there, is a friggen wicked game, cant wait to get out of work and continue to blow enemies into bloody chunks!

Sorry, didn't explain that well. The pool of irradiated water at the drive in, can you make it drinkable?

Yep. I have a windmall and purifier in it. Made it the centre of town and built around from there.

scrap the barrels in the water. No more rads. Completely removes it

Make sure to pop a rad x before you do it though, its pretty irradiated

Scrap the barrels and stuff in there and it decontaminates.

Found the campaigner codsworth. Just hanging around at a place i had been too quite a while earlier.

For future reference or anyone else with missing companions I saw on reddit that you can auto call them to you on PC using the console.

On PC you can use console commands to call him back to you

Dogmeat will be teleported to your feet. Will work for any companion you have the reference if for, looks liek most are listed on the wiki pages

I feel so dumb. I put up a fence all around the pond to stop the random Brahmin that wandered in getting killed. Never ever thought to scrap the barrels!

How do you get the perks? do you need to be a certain level, everything is still grayed out on my special map.
Higher the level and higher the main skill is what opens up the individual perks.

Every time you level up you have one point to spend on a perk or training a special stat.

You can only unlock the perks that are coloured but sort of transparent. The greyed out outlines aren't available as your SPECIAL rating isn't high enough. The only way to unlock those is to raise your SPECIAL, either by training it with a level up, or finding things like bobbleheads

How do the bobbleheads work - do you have to place them on a 'bobblehead counter' to get the point, or you get the point from just having it in on your person?

Don't need to do anything but find it and pick it up.

Same with books. Once read the affect is permanent.

You don't need to carry them

Has anyone done a Miscellaneous quest where it says for you to meet Abbott at the wall?

The campaigner is painting a wall but won't talk to me, saying he's busy the campaigner.

I've had to reload twice out of frustration, because I killed him.

That's hilarious

Was doing a quest for Vadim and Travis, and lost Dogmeat somehow.

Anybody know another companion that doesn't mind me stealing stuff and eating corpses?

Piper doesn't mind theft (or at least safe cracking) but she would probably frown on cannibalism.
