What Mancey said,

I took out a guardpost unnoticed last night without the cam suit and my sniper rifle is a bolt action. Its about using the long grass and hiding in scrub and rocks. I killed one rebel who wandered off away from his mates, they obviously heard the shot but as I ran around using the long grass and trees for hiding they could never pin point me.

Also its good to scope out the posts with the monocular. Ive been heavily scoping the activities of rebels and they move around, chat with their comrades sit down and drink booze, wander off on their own etc. Good Times!!!

Multiplayer is fantastic, if anyone is playing multiplayer on 360 add me, my GT is Schmutenstein.

Played an 8 v 8 before, was great fun.

This game is great but not as good as I was hoping.

Definiately not game of the year as some suggested, in fact probably not even top 10, for reasons already talked about.

How far are you into it mate? It does start out a bit slow, but it really revs up after the first couple of hours when you get better weapons and an idea wtf is going on.

But...any decision on game of the year for me is definately on hold until i play gears 2 and fallout 3.

This is easily my favourite of the year so far tho. Easily. It'll do well to beat the above mentioned 2 however. Its a great game, but it isn't perfect. They could have done a lot of things slightly better, included co-op for one.

This game is built for co-op.

The weapon interface is a little clunky compared to a game like COD4, as i mentioned earlier. The multiplayer is fun, if not totally memorable, and you just get the feeling they could have crammed a lot more into that massive massive world.

What would you call your game of the year so-far?

I thought the same for a while, but then i just really got into it, when you get towards the 2nd part of the map (30ish%) it starts to build up. The missions arent anymore repetitive than GTA IMO and its more fun driving to them, i utilise the bus a lot as it takes a lot less time to get somewhere.

The only trouble i have with it, is they could have made it less complicated. The game isnt hard as such, but having to stock up on malaria medicine is a bit much. Also sometimes enemies are a little hard to kill and take too many bullets, it just gets a bit full on when all you want to do is the next mission.

I used to think parking 100m down the road from the AI would have me safe, but I'll be stopping the car about 500m from them now, I've been way too close to dying for my liking.

I've only played about 2 hours worth of single player (Been playing multiplayer, Dead Space and just finished Star Wars as well) and so far my one criticism is when you have a buddy fighting with you it is WAY WAY WAY too easy to lose them. One was mortally wounded and I couldn't find her at all so I cracked it and loaded my last save point.

SO I hear there's some issues with repetitive missions, respawning guardposts that are annoying, enemies with seemingly xray vision, and a lack of any stealth?
Only certain missions are repetitive, the phone-tower missions and gun missions are the only ones without any real differential to their mission objectives, most of the main story missions do differ a bit.

There is plenty of stealth if you handle it well, there are small quirks to the AI but if you play it right you can go in and out of heavily guarded places without being seen, the only disappointing part to trying to be stealthy is that the when you machete someone everyone knows where you are, it isn't a stealth kill, it has got me a few times.

The respawning guardpost's isn't as bad as you might think, as Mancey said it is only after coming back to a guardpost that they are repopulated again and that is you have to go pretty far away for them to spawn back, it would be incredibly boring if they weren't to respawn after a while, as for the enemies vision, well you can hide from them and they don't see you, but if your using a high powered weapon then their gonna know where you are aren't they?!?

Look for blue smoke that gets released next to their body when they are injured badly.

Totally agree, this SO FAR, is my GOTY just in front of MGS4 and then GTA IV, it is an amazing game, with an amazing landscape to play on, it has plenty of quirks and faults, but it just draws you and in doesn't let go, however I have a feeling this might get left in the dark once I play R2 and LBP and possibly Fallout 3, but it will certainly be in my Top 5 for the year.

I have a feeling that had they have put co-op into this game many a feature would have been culled, it seems to me like they have crammed absolutley everything they could into this game and got everything out of both consoles and the PC, I think if co-op was in this game and it would be brilliant with it, then something like graphics would have been dulled down to Merc 2 status or the map editor would have been left out, which would have made it worse IMO.

i am enjoying this game, but i am enjoying the map editor way more

My biggest gripe with the game is the controls. They seem really laggy, like i press a button and there is a split second delay. I feel like the COD4 controls were SO good that it has ruined anything else for me :( maybe i am being picky, but i am finding it hard to keep going with the game due to this.

I will push through though and play a bit more to reserve full judgement.

But the settings and the such are amazing

Definitely going to pick this one up after exams then!

Shame about the poor voice acting though.

I've heard that the main story is rushed and downright average. Is there plenty of other stuff to do?

The driving element is shocking. Feels like you're on rails.

It took me a bit of time to get used to but now I think its great. Love driving a jeep and being able to switch to the mounted gun at the press of a button.

Its amazing that I can spend two hours playing and not really achieve much in terms of story but still have a blast. Last night I jumped on a boat and motored down to Mikes bar and at one stage I just stopped and admired the scenery of being in the river with these huge cliffs towering over, looks awesome (got to love 1080 res).

Im now up to a mission where I have to take out a police chief Ive also gone to a buddy who told me to scope out a fishing village and steal some papers of some sort, swimming in the river, sneaking up to the bank and using the good ol bolt action sniper rifle..........good times!!

Yeah thanks matt and mancey. Il take those comments on board. I have played it from probably 2-3 hours so it deserves more time which il give it once i wrap up Fable 2 and Dead Space.

Mancey you mentioned getting better guns. For someone still getting into what are some of the better guns you should aim to unlock early?

The main story is in no way rushed, if anything it is probably a little slow, I've heard the MAIN missions take approx. 29 hours.

28.5 of those hours are just travelling from place to place :D

It's a fun game, a little on the repedetive side though. When you get in confrontations, it's pretty good when you think of new ways to kill the bad guys. Flame thrower works really well in tight situations :thumbsu:

what you have typed there is my biggest concern for killzone2....
from gameplay vids it looks a tiny bit sluggish and cod4 has spoilt every fps gamer more than any other fps title.....

it sure looks shiny but i need my aiming to respond to my actions as it happens

from what i've heard it's to realistically convey the weight of the weapons but i would prefer it to be extraordinarily fluid and responsive...

only time will tell.

The M1903 sniper as primary, the PKM LMG as special, and the little single shot grenade launcher are all unlocked if you do all the weapon shop missions in the first, northern area. Once you get enough diamonds, swap the bolt action sniper for the semi auto dragunov

Swap the grenade launcher for the MAC 10 if you are happy to just chuck your grenades.

Can't agree with the driving on rails comment. That implies that you have no freedom of movement, stuck to roads etc. You arent, apart from dense jungle you're pretty free to drive anywhere

Well I just spent 4 hours or so on it, it's pretty good :thumbsu:

The enemies do respawn a bit quick, after killing a convoy in town, I had them respawn after the save, then again instantly in front of me once I killed that lot :D

I know what he means by on rails, it's a bit like Saints Row driving, no real weight or sideways momentum, it's not unbearable though.

Only thing that disapointed me was the lack of wild animals, I wanted to see lions and elephants (and go big game hunting:D) they may appear later on but so far i've only seen Zebra, Antilope and Wilder beasts.

Anyone seen anymore than that?
I just found some Mountain Goat.;)

They're over on the far right side of the map, near the OGC place, haven't seen them anywhere else.

.

I shot a chook last night, does that count?:D

Does anyone know if you can buy all weapons in the game, is there enough diamonds in contracts and briefcases to do it? I bought a gun last night which I am now regretting.
