Reports here in W.A that Fev rang up and abused a teammate (Todd Banfield) after a serious of run ins at training with him
So why couldn't Brisbane tell us that?

The Fev was great for football.

Never a dull moment.

I cannot think on any reason you'd bother watching Brisbane play without Fev. Very average bunch of players.

What happened to Jesus. He got sacked too.

What business is it of yours?
Brisbanes statement said "persistent and serious breaches of contract" were why he was sacked.

So far nobody at the club has been able to explain what the breaches were. At the presser they could've said stuff like "We can't go into that now" or "We can't say as we've been advised by Brendans medical team not to". But no. They just repeated the same thing over and over.

The whole thing is making Brisbane's board look like a joke. They claim something then fail to justify it. Weak, pathetic leadership from those in charge. And all because they've failed to answer one simple question.

the members would want to know what the real reasoning was for his sacking

I would indeed like to know, but just wondering why Essendon supporters are so concerned, or how it is their business?

Brisbane young gun Tom Rockliff says Lions players would welcome back wayward full forward Brendan Fevola with open arms.

"With Fev coming out of rehab it will be interesting times for the club. We've prepared to have him and not to have him, so if he plays Round 1 or even throughout the season, it would be fantastic," Rockliff said.

"It's fantastic news for Brendan and everyone at the club (that Fevola is leaving rehab). All the boys have been there for him.

"He's (Fevola) still got a long road ahead of him but he's definitely making the right steps forward."

Pathetic!

THE AFL has confirmed it will give the Brisbane Lions financial assistance following the decision to sack troubled forward Brendan Fevola.
AFL footballer operations manager Adrian Anderson confirmed this afternoon the Lions would get some salary cap relief for Fevola's huge payout. The former Blue is believed to be owed $1.9 million over the next two years. Anderson also said the league would give Brisbane further financial assistance, but denied the league had encouraged the Lions to sack Fevola.

The bit in bold is not in the article. Did you make it up for a bit of sensationalism?

Fevola's contract had two years left to run, so I don't see why it's a problem for the payout figure to be spread over that period. The AFL allowed St Kilda to do the exact same thing with Lovett.

Sacking a bloke with clinical depression whilst he is receiving treatment is a dogs act. Fev may have done the wrong thing in the past but the timing of his sacking is very ordinary to say the least.
For their sake I hope that Fev's depression doesn't get worse. I have lost most of my respect for brisbane.
For once I agree with Robert Walls in him saying that carlton are partially to blame for this mess.
brisbane better pay out the money they owe him because if it goes to court and Fev wins they will have to pay for his legal fees.
Good luck to Fev in his treatment.

So because I support another club I'm not allowed to ask questions? "What business is it of yours" comes across as very defensive. I think Brisbane are a good club, usually quite like them. But the people in charge are coming across incredibly poorly. They're being asked simple questions and failing to answer them. That suggests they have something to hide. That intrigues me.

I bet a significant proportion of players delisted every year suffer serious depression as a result of their dream being shattered. Where is the sympathy for them? Should their original club take them back on while they are ill?

The decision to sack Fevola was obviously made shortly after New Years. Would it have been better for Brisbane to announce it then, and potentially derail his treatment?

I simply find it amusing when random onlookers demand intimate details that really are none of their business.

Yep, often it's the same people who decry the media for being gossipy and intrusive who then hypocritically howl that it is unfair when they are denied access to information that is none of their business.

In that case... what business is it of yours why Essendon supporters are (in your words "concerned"?

What business is it of yours?

What business is it of yours, what his business is?

You can obviously see where this arguement will go...

To be fair Brown Dog, I remember reading that line originally in the article, but it seems to have mysteriously disappeared. Looks like the fact checking needs to be taken higher than the messenger.

"Gossip" isn't directly asking questions. It isn't following up on official statements and asking what's meant by them.

I'm not asking for details about his personal life. I'm asking why his football career was terminated with seemingly minimal justification apart from "We didn't like him anymore".

So from now on... any time you ask anyone a question on Bigfooty you'd think a fair responce is... "What business of it is yours"

We'd have quite a forum on our hands... let alone media coverage...

Brisbane Press conference...

Brisbane Chairman - "Brendan Fevola has been sacked, any questions?"

Daily Telegraph - "Why was he sacked?"

Brisbane Chairman - "It's none of your business"

Herald Sun - "Why was he sacked?"

Brisbane Chairman - "It's none of your business"

Herald sun - "Why are you hiding your reasons?"

Brisbane Chairman - "Seriously FFS, what business is it of yours"
