I can actually see the AFC taking this one to court, given the complete lack of transparency regarding the formula. It's a complete lack of procedural fairness.

For what its worth,
A few days after Rucci first said the crows would get around pick 26, Demitriou himself came out and said that he thought that this speculation was unfounded, and that the compensation would be nothing like pick 26.
I dont have a quote for this, though sorry.

Nobody is expecting Band 1 compensation, but Band 2 has to be the absolute minimum accepted.
I have no problems with them releasing the compensation on the same day as GC announcing their signatures. It's a set formula, so it shouldn't be dependent on which players go and saying "they've already signed 3 band 2 players so this one has to be band 3".
Why make the clubs wait any longer than they need to? I'm sure Adelaide were eager to find out what compensation they were going to receive. I'm equally sure that the local dentist is going to be doing great business, fixing all those teeth which broke when their jaws hit the floor when the compo deal was announced.
I do. The club best and fairest and AA announcement haven't happened yet. If he had won (which he won't but richitelli might) this should affect the compensation
How's your maths? 16+2=18, thus the earliest the pick could be, would be pick 19 and thats if no one else uses theirs. I'd suggest, if our appeal is unsuccessful, that we'll use it straight away, not too much difference between pick 19 and pick 26, might drop a player or two on Rendell's list at most, but we get the benefit of an extra couple of years development.

As a member I'd be demanding they take this to court. Sick and tired of the vic-sentric bias bullshit that is continually thrown our way.
Bloody mob of potato heads!!!
What a fkg joke in poor taste!!
We will never get a fair deal in anything while that Dimwit and his B Grade "post it note" lawyer run this show for the benefit of the Victorians.
Mark my words, you watch some hack from one of the big 4 Victorian clubs unjustly attract a higher rating than Bock and a first round pick.
The best draft pick we can get for an AA and B&F is pick 19 if we wait 2 years and nobody finishing lower than us uses theirs?? Or pick 26 to 30 if we use it this year??
I genuinely hate that fat bastard and his snivelling off-sider!!![]()
If Bock was up for open trade he would have attracted a quality first round draft pick around 10 to 12 at worst which could be used at once.
Adelaide had no choice but to appeal, although I expect nothing from those authors of the grandfather son rule for non-Victorian clubs.
If we get stuck with being dudded after the appeal, then as others have suggested, use the damn pick now and get 2 years development into the draft selection.
Not happy. Not happy.![]()
This whole draft compensation shows ho difficult it is to ever get a trade done. Adelaide (the selling club) says mid 1st round or mid 1st round plus a 2nd round or a player. The buying club (The AFL) says end of 1st round. From this point let the complaining begin on from the Adelaide side as the AFL can't be involved in a slanging match.
This is not a true trading situation but an assessment of worth. No team is giving up a draft choice here.
Bock as a player is worth much more to Adelaide when trading with another club but if a players draft pick is evaluated in isolation then Bock at the end of the 1st round seems reasonable. There is a difference although I may not have explained it well. The banding process is a good way to go. Band 1 for an Ablett or Pavlich type Band 2 for a player like James Frawley(no he is not leaving) but a KPP defender drafted in the 1st round and less then 23 years of age - so at least 150 games to play and Band 3 for a player like Bock KPP not an early draft choice with less than 80 games left to play.
at the Crows, probably Johncock, Tippett, Thompson and Vince would be worth band 2 IMO. Doughty is established in our starting 22, but i would think he would be worth the lowest of bands. Douglas and Knights would probably be band 3. Walker and Danger would probably be worth band 4 (equivalent of Krakouer). the whole compensation system screws every other team losing uncontracted players. GC should've just been made to trade their extra picks they were given for uncontracted players.I'd like to know who does qualify as a band 2 selection?
If we have an all australian and club champion who is band 3, and still has 3-4 years of good football left, Who at our club qualifies higher?
Tippet?
Douglas?
thompson?
They are all valuable players, but how would the AFL rate them
And if Rischetelli has been confirmed as a band 3 with the chance of winning best and fairest at brisbane what the eff is band 2?
There are 30 odd players that the AFL identified as band 1, how many are band 2?
I think anyone that is established in the best 22 for each team should come close to band 2.
So, does the AFL think we have any band 2, or does Demitriou just think the entire Crows team are a bunch of scrubs?
You really think Port got screwed over?Everyone else that doesn't lose one of the top 20 players in the comp will get XXXXXed over.
