I am yet to be convinced that Daniher will make a league player.

He looked ok in some of the games he played with Bendigo. A few pre-seasons will see him lose that puppy fat pretty quickly.

He's only a kid....

I noticed in the Current Contract Status thread that we haven't re-signed Alwyn yet, but I assume you're taking the piss?

There has been some news that Melbourne want to lure Alwyn to Melbourne to play with his brother, since now they have so much room left in their cap after delisting 6 players.

Champion Data rated Darcy Daniher as excellent value for pick 39. (and i think they are very accurate)

he's probably a 5 year project player, but i have confidence he will succeed.

So did North Melbourne.

There is another player that has not been mentioned in this thread: Winderlich. Winderlich had two 20 disposal, 2 goal games as a leading half forward against quality teams in Adelaide and Hawthorn this year.

My team:

HF: Reimers/Winderlich Gumbleton Monfries
FF: Jetta Neagle Davey

I wanted to give Darcy a spot but I see him as Gumbleton's understudy.
Heaps of potential there.

and someone suggested that Mcphee should stay forward, put him back, where he has played his best football, he turned the ball over 11 times in one match earlier this year now didnt he,

Wouldn't that mean we should keep him out of the backline at all costs?

Jetta------------------------Monfries
------------------------------------
--McPhee----------------Daniher----
------------------------------------
-------------Gumbleton-------------
------------------------------------
-------------Neagle-----------------

With Jetta switching with Davey through the midfield, and the resting ruckman rotating with one of the four talls.

Can anyone actually explain what Daniher offers over McPhee? Much improved in the 2nd half of the year (like about 37 other blokes)
The whole premise of this thread is odd. By the time Lloyd is finished - I think he's got another 3 years left, one or two more than Lucas - I would hope we have more prospects than Gumbleton & Daniher with more form behind them. I like the idea of Gumbleton, but it's not like he's proven anything yet. We're stabbing in the dark. Who knows where Reimers, Davey & Monfries will be playing then - all could conceivably be given more midfield responsibility. Likewise the talls could be down back etc.

Smart man, have spoken to Ant555 about this, and we both seem to think that Darcy may not even make it as an AFL player, seems to lack motivation, watch him lead, he goes half paced, on the rare occasion he does lead hard, he will take it one grab and contested, but then the next contest, he will drop one out of the bread basket, not sure on Gumbleton either, although, Hansen from the same draft at NM is taking significant steps forward this year, so hopefully Gumby can do this too,

where is Hookers best spot, forward, defence, will he be able to hold down a KP or not, have always wondered, instead of making him a utility, settle him in one postion, then we can maybe use him else where later on.

just a thought guys...

I see Hooker as being a good solid depth player for defence. It's all up to him whether he becomes more than that because he has the resources and the body to make it. Also shows he has a good footy brain and solid skills. If he works his absolute ass off he'll be right. I think he is the type of player that will be able to be very tight on his man, lock down a forward, and do his bit on the rebound when required. That's the impression I got looking at him at Bendigo and the few senior games he played this year. But as I said, it's up to him, and him only as to how far he goes. It's a good time to be an up and comer at the EFC.

Don't mind Hooker, wouldn't be against chucking him in the deep end next year. Looked a lot better than I expected this year

Has a crack, is in the contest more often than not although lacks the smarts & strength at this stage to win many
Good size, pace and skills look OK

A lot to like
