I dont agree with you Coulda .Hill to a half back flank when we are lacking mids ? Please  Especially with Hills disposal into the forward half. Hill should play Mid,wing
You would have thought Mzungu ,Suban ,Sutcliffe ,Pearce would share that HBF role with a run on the wing.

With how Hill went onball last week (one of our very few shining lights) I think we'd be mad to play him off a HBF. Onball rotation for mine. Any of the guys you listed could start on the HBF instead and we'd lose very little.

Without Hill onball and at centre clearances against the Hawks... I really don't want to contemplate what the final result might have looked like.

Sylvia will be a handy addition also, if we bring him in. Would be very handy to have him onball for whatever spells his legs can handle.

funny how the momentum shifts with the frees... or do the frees shift with momentum

It's both, I reckon.

Steven Hill gives us momentum off the half back line and his ability to run and carry breaks up static defences .
The inclusion of Sylvia give Mundy some muscle to help him in the stoppages . D. Pearce can do his usual thing and feed the ball out to the runners .

Sylvia HFF with Croizer in walter's role. Sylvia had a stronger marking so hopefully will try use that to our advantage. Essendon have no ruckman to speak of- Ryder coming back this week but Sandi and Clarke should be all over them. I'll be happy to get Clarke rucking 80% of the game and plant Sandi (seriously, really need to do this every game..) up forward, stretch Hurley and perhaps force Carlisle down back.

Would have liked another WAFL game or two for Sylvia but unfortunately we have no choice but to play him now. Not that it will happen given the state of our injury list atm but I don't really want to see an injured Mayne running around against the Bombers. The form he's in he will be a liability again.

We're going to get mauled in the clearances again.

Clarke doesn't have his fitness up to that level yet so you would be asking too much of him yet .
In the Peel Vs Swans game he was not putting in the hard yards when needed which is why I'm making this statement .
Clarke in the forward pocket is a different story and with Fletcher out this gives the Bombers a real headache

My prediction is that Hurley will go to Pavlich, Hooker to the resting ruck. With Mayne probably out, does Freo have any other talls to bring in?

Matt Taberner, although he is still listed as "test" on the injury list, he played a full game on the weekend and kicked 2 goals IIRC.

Come on Mr Thompson... You know we have a 225cm, 140kg contested marking monster just waiting to be unleashed.

Hodor Roberts-Smith.

I know he has a VC, but would he go hard enough at the footy to match it with Hocking?

He would eat Hocking up for breakfast and use his bones to make bread.

Dons are going to be very strong on clearances and in contested ball around stoppages. If we concede there, and if the Dons handle the ball anything like the Hawks were on Friday, we'll be digging the ball out of our back half for extended periods of time or restarting from the centre after they've kicked a goal.

MJ will be freed up with Dawson back in the team. Clancee and Duff are both able to kick well. Sutcliffe and PearceD can provide some run and carry. All should help provide us rebound from the back half, and Hilly can rest back there as required. Mzungu is pretty handy for run and carry also.

I just don't think what we gain by having Hilly on a HBF is enough to offset what he can offer around the ball, if last week is anything to go by.

So Clark's not fit enough after one game where he was BOG for the first half but Taberner who flashed in and out for Peel is right to come in after the same game time:confused::rolleyes:

The Freo Rickie wanted him to ruck for 80% of the game Salim and he was struggling to run out a game of WAFL so what would you recommend .

Taberner would struggle to play at the same intensity as Mayne but he has a better fitness base to work with than Clarke .

We have to play the game on our terms. Last week was the first time I've seen a game completely played on the opposition terms. We had a 6-7 forwards lined up at stoppages trying to man up Suckling, Birch, Smith etc. We normally only line up with three forward ahead at stoppages and in front of the ball. This allowed Hawthorn to create turn overs from half back and sling shot the ball quickly on the spread. It also gave them lots of space ahead of the ball to lead in to which we normally block.
