Time to bring back the manic pressure! If we do, we win and win easily.

You know what, I'm normally known as the negative one around here but I actually have a really good feeling about this game.

We are a good team, they always say (including Spurr today) that we have 22 players that all have their role to play. All had stinkers last week it happens. How many times under RTB has it happened twice in a row ? RTB has the ability to change a game mid game ( ie pies last year)

This game is at home in front of the freo faithful and some of these guys that will be playing are not best 22, and will they have a point to prove !! And it's much easier to do that in front of 38000 screaming dockers fans.

Essendon come over favourites (maybe even In their own heads)

And we may, just may get some surprises. Ross left everything open tonight, Morra, Simpson, Silvia who knows. We may uncover some secrets.

I can't wait to see what happens. This is what we pay RTB for

Go freo !!!

I agree, although I note with concern that the forecast for Sunday now tips a max of 33 - it's going to be very difficult to sustain manic pressure at that sort of temperature!

That said, if it does get that hot, hopefully the benefit of the extra 2 days' break may come into play for us.

And overheat the hell out of the Dons:p

This will be a tough game as both Freo and Essendon have only lost to Hawthorn. (However Freo had a bigger loss). I think that Freo will be able to bounce back after last week and win by 30+. Good luck!

Why do you guys think the pressure is not there this year ? Do you think its because they are trying to score more ?

Because last year we could beat anyone with our pressure
The training load during the pre-season is quite high (about as hard as the lads can be pushed). All the other teams started their pre-seasons before us (apparently the Hawks voluntarily started theirs early). It is unsurprising that other teams look like they have springs in their shoes compared to us. We'll ease into the season in the next couple of rounds, and hopefully the long season really wears the Hawks down (especially with their older players). The Hawks have really thrown the dice to get a fast start this season, it may very well cost them in the business end of the season if their players succumb to fatigue/stress related injuries.

We've just modified the game plan as well, expect a false start or two while we work it all out.

I actually think that both sides may counteract each other. The difference will be which forward line will fire.

SuperPav will fire, eventually. Surely!

Thought Pav fired rather nicely against the Hawks, to be honest.

What some observers have been saying is Col Sylvia has been better when he has been on the ball as an insider in his Peel games.
I was hoping to see his long goal kicking at freo but this week against Essendon, considering our circumstances, he may be better value on ball rotating with Mundy and deBoer through the forward line.

I've watched him pretty closely in the Peel games that've been telecast, and I'd agree that he seems to have more impact on the ball than on the forward flank. Kicked a couple of very handy goals in about a minute playing up forward against Swans, but also made a beautiful kick inside 50 to set up a leadin Clarke for an easy shot on goal after running the ball away from a centre bounce.

With Fyfe and Barlow out I think he'd add more onball and rotating through the flank, rather than playing on the flank and rotating onball. Not sure how much of his time can be spent onball, but as much as the fitness guys reckon he could handle would be my hope.

I have several memories of Gu taking a strong mark in our forward line and duly converting. I think he has many strings in his bow.

True, but Mz seems to take a lot of those marks after running forward from the midfield, rather than as being a focal point. If Hilly and PearceD spend more time onball, then Mz will be important in the midfield... particularly if he has a job keeping an eye on someone like Zaharakis. I don't think we can afford to let Zaha run around by himself... and am assuming that Crowls will pick up Stanton again.

Taking Mz away from his usual roles seems like robbing Peter to play Paul. Reckon we need to back one of the guys that've been training and playing up forward to step in for Mayne. Tabs, Crozier and De Boer are all guys that can provide that role. Not as well, obviously, and Crozier is the obvious replacement for Sonny if he misses (as it sounds like he will).

For mine, I reckon Tabs would be a decent addition to the forward line. Would've said Crozier or De Boer to have a go at Mayne's role if Sonny wasn't missing.

You guys have some massive outs coming into this game and looks like we are resting Chapman & Fletcher likely to miss the trip.
Let's hope for a great game with no more injuries for both sides.

Wish it was a Friday Night game.

Bombers by 10 :p

Will Essendon's surprise packet duo have a day out that they have so promisingly been threatening to do?
Pav should get some support from Gumblet... oh wait.
Feel for the lad and hoped he'd do well back home but im glad he's not on our injury list anymore

They played a bunch of witches hat tonite:D
Our loss and their win will lull them into a sense of false security ;)

PS will Ryder the sniper play
Probably sharpening the elbow now if he thinks he is right to go
We have to remember to give him the tom **** all night

Ryder should play. FWIW I'd rather play Freo with Walters, Fyfe, Barlow etc included. If we lose it will feel a bit demoralising. If we win we'll have to endure "...they were missing Walters, Fyfe, Barlow etc." until we meet again. It'll be a diminshed contest either way whose result will give both sides some consternation when next we meet.

Good luck on Sunday. ...the 'tom ****'?

FWIW, so would we.

Earlier in the week BOM was forecasting 25 C now it's 33 C.
We might win now with that kind of temperature.

If Freo win Sunday, why would we have any consternation about playing Essendon again?

We couldn't beat Hawthorn and haven't for 3 years. Last week we didn't beat Hawthorn again.

Apart from that game our pressure this year has been as good as ever.

I keep scouring the death notices hoping he has been found dead in his bed; there is only four days to go.
Putrid person.

Geez Fred
I am not actually convinced he is anti Freo, I think he just loves being Robin Hood in a game and paying cheap frees to the team that is losing to try and even things up. Maybe I'm being too kind but I reckon he is more incompetent than malicious.
Nicholls on the other hand....

If we pass the hat around, there's a shady character at my local who might be prepared to have a go at knocking Margetts off. He'd probably do it for a few hundred dollars and a night on the sauce.
