Yes clearly deliberate, he lined him up, pure and simple, if you cant see that then you need to take off your goggles, he is just lucky the force wasnt worse. His old man used to be one of the best at this.

This is where it gets confusing.
Clearly deliberate - Yes by the fact that he was attemtping to block a player from running on and receiving the ball back.
However, Clearly deliberate - No he intended to block with a check against the chest which went accidently high

So his initial action was to block the player (deliberate) but his action went accidently high (careless).
Not sure how the MRO will look at this but I'm hoping it is either careless or insufficient force.

Not worse than last week just a different action and set of circumstances.

Its like the Hawkins jumper punch, nothing in that force wise but the action (making contact to the head) was the reason he got a week.
Plus a string of priors....that's why he got a suspension instead of a fine

Wow!

Wow all you want, are you trying to tell me he didn't deliberately move in his direction? He may not have meant to hurt him (which he didnt) or hit him high but the movement was clearly towards Wright, the fact that ball was nowhere near makes it look worse.

Was it? I thought that the MRP no longer took previous record into consideration.
They did last year or whenever he was pinged for jumper punching

He was simply trying to stop Wright from running on and receiving the handball.

What you're saying is Ablett clearly only had intent to make contact with Wright's head. Which means he was trying to injure his opponent. That is not only nonsense, but delusion.

And given it was his forearm and not the elbow that made contact.

The fact that he wasn't even looking at Wright when contact was made tells the story.

Fyfe on the other hand lined Lynch up, kept his eye on his opponent and elbowed him in the head. That is deliberate.
He may not have meant to hurt him (which he didnt) or hit him high
Oh, now you're saying it wasn't deliberate.

I'm not sure you really know anymore.

Did i say that? I said he clearly lined him up meaning he deviated into Wrights path and made contact, I never said anything about wanting to take his head off, we all know Gaz wouldn't do that but the fact is he deliberately initiated contact, whether thats classed as high impact low force will we will find out later but you cant say that Gaz didn't mean to make contact because that's delusion

I'd agree that this is happening because it is Gary's attempt at defensive pressure, which is as foreign to his game as fumbling, falling over or a skill error.

It warms the heart that he is trying.....but Gary please, knock it off now.

It was an intentional block Ablett admitted that post game, and a free kick was paid the question here is was it intentional to take him high NO was it force full NO was the contact to the head BODY FIRST AND SLIPPED UP,what damage was done SFA.

Yes, because he was trying to put a block on. Even Stevie Wonder can see that.

What you're assuming is the contact to the head was deliberate, which it wasn't, and you even said that yourself. 6 of one half a dozen of the other with you.

Its not the end result its the action, the fact that he lined him up and hit him high makes it seem deliberate and if thats the case he will get a week.

It was definitely deliberate. A deliberate (and clumsy) attempt to block the Kangas player attempting to run into space.

Which is exactly what players are coached to do wherever possible these days.

Right idea, wrong execution. And negligible 'damage'.

Nowhere near 'intentional' (thanks, Dusty) and precious little force to speak of.

Even more reason than last week to defend this one, in my view.

And last week was a farce...

Remember seeing Chris Grant lose a brownlow for barely any impact.
Then again I saw Chris Judd win one for breaking a blokes nose.
I seen Martin win one for an off the ball elbow

I seen Fyfe win one for a deliberate elbow

I seen Mitchell win one for an off the ball elbow

All 3 were as deliberate as you're ever likely to see.

"Knock it off"!! Haven't heard that expression since watching the Three Stooges as a kid. This is all a bit like the Three Stooges

If Christian has a brain in that head he goes Ablett no case to answer Fyfe fine $2000 and we get to see two of the best players in the comp running around this week and Richmond fans suffering in their jocks for a second week in a row, make it happen.

I love how much Gaz upsets other people, especially Tuggers supporters. The tears on BF & FB have been absoloute bliss to watch
