What I like about Blitz is his ability to adjust on the fly. He got stitched up early then shut Lynch out, same for the last couple of weeks. Others could learn a thing or two about this facet of the game.

Ridiculous that he continually has to readjust, why not leave him key defense and have him settle.
Surely he's passed the test by now.

I think the ideal setup is 2 talls and4 smalls, that's giving you opportunity both ways.
Don't forget TH slotted through 4 goals for us and probably should have been 6, his numbers were quite good considering mediocre support in Buzza.

there is no shadow of a doubt about this, that must be the permanent set up for him.
Yep looks way better leading up the ground than being stationary in the forward line with a constant 1 on 3. He needs space when he plays FF and unfortunately the modern game doesn’t provide that.

Didn't get a chance to watch it on Saturday night....pesky guests.....but watched it hungover on Sunday.

Stanley was poor. Can't see him playing this week. For a guy that regularly gets his pants pulled down in the ruck and is supposed to be athletic, he doesn't get the ball enough. If he is in the team for that then he is failing. Not sure if its Abbott or Smith that replaces him but he will be replaced.

As much as this board seems to hate him, Buzza plays again and will play for a number of weeks. The one thing he does well is compete. Agree he needs to clunk more marks but he is bringing it to ground for the smalls. JJ's goal in the 2nd quarter was Buzza's. Contested the mark and quite possibly was tunneled but followed up and got hands to JJ for the snap. He will be better for the run.

Fog was carefully managed through the game. Used it well when he got it. Expect his game time to increase over the coming weeks.

All in all, nice win. GC were s**t but the Cats punished them.

Bit of Cunico spotlight.

The footy equivalent of an ankle breaker.

Boy - did Stewie Dew barrack for the Cats as a kid - i know he has got fond memories of 08 as a player

Heard a snippet of his after match press conference on the ABC Radio tonight - re the wash up summary of the entire round

" Our players will learn plenty from Geelong who are a champion team and a champion club " - wow - nice words indeed
That's great, but the fat bastard still stole a flag off us!!!

GOLD COAST v GEELONG
10 Mitch Duncan (Geel)
8 Gary Ablett (Geel)
3 Sam Menegola (Geel)
3 Mark Blivacs (Geel)
2 Patrick Dangerfield (Geel)
2 Joel Selwood (Geel)
2 Tim Kelly (Geel)
Hard to argue with those votes and it shows how even the team performance was that only 3 players received votes from both coaches - Duncan & Ablett obviously, with one of Danger, Selwood & Kelly to receive votes from both

Might have been over weight - but he was nearly impossible to move out of the way - because of his bulk

It might have been in that fateful 3rd qtr - but he was opposed to James Kelly ( who was pretty strong himself ) in a 1 out o/head marking contest with Dew - and Kelly tried to hip him out of the way - but he couldnt move him a centimetre and got out marked . He was built like a blooody German tank Dew

No doubt he's had some big moments. 10 minutes of football heaven in that third quarter of the 08 granny, and dating Teresa Palmer as a young lad. Touch and go which was better.

Buzza played NRL, not Rugby

"Rugby League was my main sport but when I was 15 I had a mate who had the idea of taking the day off school to try out for this schoolboy thing."

Aaaaaand to most good Victorians, that's exactly the same thing ;)
Pffftttttt!!!!!!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Then most Victorians are wrong!

Rugby = Rugby Union
League = Rugby League or NRL
To NSW, Qld + most of Australia, France, England, Ireland, Wales, Italy, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Germany, American Samoa, Andorra, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Botswana, Brazil, British Virgin Isles, Bulgaria, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Cayman, Chile, China, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Cook Island, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Georgia, Ghana, Greece, Guam, Guyana, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Lao, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mali, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Morocco, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Niue Islands, Norway, Pakistan
Plus another 41 Countries -

With a total of 18,633 Clubs in those countries, all call Rugby Union - 'Rugby' or 'Union'

While 136 Countries play Rugby League, which they call - 'League' or in Australia - 'League' + 'NRL'

But hey, Victorians call Rugby League - 'Rugby' - so the rest of the World must be wrong!

It's very amusing that Victorians, who like to think they're the sporting aficionados of Australia, cannot even distinguish the difference between two major international sports

:p:p:p

Don't forget that majority of world refers to the round ball game as football, and it's only in America & Australia where it either still or previous it's formal name has been soccer

got plenty of touches on both accounts ....

Hahaha!

I've always called Soccer, 'Football' lol Soccer refers to Association Football, the poor cousin + 'Football' is actually the proper term. So Australians + Americans who call 'Football', 'Soccer' are wrong lol

Who cares, both games are s**t :p

We can call it whatever we ******* want

Like the ignoramuses who call AFL the pejorative 'Aerial Ping Pong'?

Rugby Union + Rugby League have proud histories + there's a reason for the distinction. To call 'League', 'Rugby' is insulting because they're proud of their heritage + how 'Rugby League' came about. By calling 'League'/NRL by the wrong term of 'Rugby' is insulting the working class, the blue collar workers who fought so hard to create their own game.

Who cares, both games are s**t :p

Ruby Union is a fantastic game, agree League is sh!t. But remember that AFL is based on Rugby Union - Tom Wills (that great NSWelshman) who created AFL :p

Anyway, enough! This thread has already been derailed by off topic discussion, I don't want to be accused of creating more off topic discussion.

Remember also that when he wanted a football game for real sportsmen, ie cricketers, he invented Australian Rules because he thought Rugby was s**t.

It's all "Rugby". It's kinda like how some non-sports-watchers call everything "sportsball" :p
