Geelong rorting the system

Yeah most of our success has been due to four guys. You’re right.

As such the four best players of the modern era are in no particular order Ablett, Scarlett, Hawkins. and Nathan Ablett.

Mighty effort from that quartet.

Five guys.
You forgot Mark Blake.

Are you kidding, the collective meltdown has been nothing short of glorious. 'They are just so damn good they must be cheating' is a beautiful compliment for any sporting club, let alone a little one like Geelong who pulled itself up by its bootstraps and became a powerhouse of the 21st century.

Way back when the $10K fine for an admin error would've sunk the club, but not now, we got it covered!

p.s. Brad Close's new Ford is frickin' awesome.

We're flicking the invoice over to our rep @ Morris Finance. They'll take care of it.

The father-son thing could have ended worse for everyone.
We could have done the right thing by common sense and chosen Shane Mumford over Mark Blake, and Nathan Ablett could have actually wanted to play football.

If true then should be a big fine and loss of soft cap space. There have been rumours for so long about this and can honestly say that the cats seems to find the cap space for players and coaches that other clubs can’t. Time for the afl to make an example to not let this shit happen again. Unfortunately we know how this will play out, small fine and suspended sentence.

If it were my club Adelaide, we’d get happened with everything. The afl is the most corrupted sport organisation in the world because they don’t answer to anyone

I agree about fines and penalties.

Not sure we will ever uncover a serious rort of the system, but there seems to be very poor regulation of third-party payments and other deals (like Eddie getting jobs for WAGs at CH9 etc).

WGAF about the draw?

It's not rigged and never is. Morons said the same about the Tigers during the dynasty years, even in 2020 when they were in hubs outside of VIC. Laughable.

My concern is that I don't believe it's viable for an AFL head coach to also be a director at a sponsor company (5G Networks) and 'chief of leadership and performance' at another sponsor company (Morris Finance).

It reeks of the Judd/VISY deal, getting paid 6 figures every year for a photo here and there, a 30 second video etc.

This is the third-party payment loophole that the AFL needs to address.

so good? 12th, 3rd and currently 5th the last 3 years? For a team with a massive home ground advantage, it's very meh.

Come on, we're all being honest here. Geelong was everyone's 2nd favourite team pre-2007. Since then no other side has won more premierships than Geelong, won more games, won more finals, you name it. Pissing on equalisation in an era that does everything possible to equalise the comp, it's dare I say, unprecedented!

Definitely a tough first 11 rounds.

Lucky you got the rub of the green in 7 of them hey.
With the most games missed through injury champ.
But hey keep trying to discredit us any way possible. You are the reason the media write such clickbait articles. You get so sucked in you can’t think for yourself.
No salary cap breaches but you get worked up over a car to an AFLW player.
Easiest fixtures are suddenly an issue ONLY after what we’ve already had. Convenient timing that.

We beat a team like Collingwood in front of a packed pie stadium off b2b 6 day breaks and injuries galore.
What’s the issue after the game? Some free kicks that were right anyway. What a laugh.

yep, 1 in about 25 years. well below afl avg.

Well no, you’ve had Viney, Chris Johnson, Billy Stretch, Taj Woewodin.

That’s 4 in 25 years, Danster. You’ve also got Kynan Brown on your rookie list I believe.

What’s well below AFL average, is the 1 flag in 25 years this century. Average is 1 every 18 years.

if the afl wanted to equalise the comp they would've abolished the f/s rule altogether decades ago. throw in the nga nonsense. And now the top teams (Brisbane, dogs, Collingwood and geelong) are basically just the 4 clubs that have been the most kissed. nothing more, nothing less.

That’s not Geelong’s fault. Develop them better. Ablett and Scarlett weren’t supposed to move the needle either. Only Hawkins was. Even he looked like being a bust for a few years.

Your best player perhaps since Barassi was taken in the mid 30s and you’ve turned him into one of the greatest ruckmen who’s ever lived. Do better with your father sons if it is such a huge advantage for other clubs when they get mid-level junior talent through that avenue and turn them into all timers.

Or, you know, just do what normal adults do and stop moaning about it and accept other teams’ success. Hawthorn did it their way, Brisbane did it their way, we did it our way, Richmond did it their way, etc etc.

yeah you did such an amazing job developing a 110kg number 1 draft prospect with pick 41. what an amazing bit of recruiting and developing. šŸ‘

hawks did ut through the draft. Roughead, Franklin and Lewis. All top 10 picks. Melb did the same with Petracca, Oliver and Brayshaw. Geelong and those other clubs in mentioned did so with gifted high end father/sons. nothing to do with development.
