WARNING TO ALL VISITORS TO THE GEELONG BOARD. You are - for the most part - welcome to discuss the current list management & trading situation at Geelong. However, this is our board, so be respectful of the home board posters & don't inflame arguments (make your points succinctly and move on). And if you're just here to troll, then don't bother or you will be enjoying a holiday

I guess its not as bad as it looks .

PO you keep your head whe everyone as is losing theirs.

Your the Viv Richards mr Cool of this board.

Nah thats Turbocat but thanks for the compliment my friend.

Why have you chosen to eliminate the part where we got pick 51 as part of the deal. We got Higgins for Fogarty and a 14 pick downgrade. And Wells will tell us the bloke he drafts at pick 51 he would have selected at pick 37 anyway, so in effect we got Higgins for Fogarty.
I did forget about the 51 but realistically a 14 pick downgrade for a 32 year old while giving up a handy 21 year old does seem a bit much imo but it does depend if some of the wage is being incurred by North.

Which is half the trade.. BIG WIN WELL DONE GIANTS . BEAT THOSE PUSSY'S ... etc etc..

then sometime in the future they will sit down and look at the total trade.. probably those who are more draft focused and they will wonder how come geelong have such a good hand again.

If we happen to lose a player or two next year... Menegola is a FA. then it opens up a range of possabilities
Dont see how those picks are going to replace 50 or 60 goals a year.

We loose Mengola and we trade in someone to take his and Joel's money.

We'll have a 1st 3 2nd rounds 2 3rds.
Grand scheme of things everything looks alot rosier than being made out.

So no Brander then.
yeh he is a slipper little sucker....how to start a rumour on BF....you do a broad quote that you heard something on radio on the general board...never tv as too watched and never print media as then you need to prove it...west coast fans runs with it takes it to their board....outraged as price slightly low but high enough to believe they would do it...then it comes back here as its on the west coast board. west coast fans shit the bed a few times and have a good chuckle.

All eggs one basket (2021)

2020 is so unique we have no baseline or reference guide.

How the shortened games, bubbles, lack of Victorian games the extended break

Had a great season realistically Geelong I think perhaps overachieved and run into a very good footballside in the GF.

Jeremy Cameron is the most talented key forward you can find at prime age been an issue for many years a second target.

In a vacuum from a nostalgic point of view Higgins and Smith classy wingman and half forwards with skill would be great additions.

Realistically smith 31 and Higgins is 32 years of age will turn 33 during 2021 so if you got 15 games each out of them at the right time could be great or a timebomb .

Danger (30)
Selwood (32)
Hawk (32)
Duncan (29)
Blicavs (29)

Higgins (32) *
Smith (31) *
Rohan (29)
Stanley (29)
Tuohy (30)
Henderson (30)

Prime age bracket
Jeremy Cameron (27) *
Stewart (27)
Guthrie (28)
Dalhaus (28)
Menegola (28)
Kolo (25)
Bews (26)

Youth ( kinda ) Future core *
Miers (21)
MOC (23)
Henry (22)
Parfitt ( 22 )
Simpson (22)
Sav ( 22 )
Narkle (22 )
Clark ( 20 )
Constable (21)

No idea category

Jack Stevens ( 30 )
Josh Jenkins ( 31 )

I mean listen the best 22 will consist with probably 14 players over 28 at times. Un chartered territory so it probably ends with Geelong defying the young legs theory justifying everything and winning a flag in 2021. Or it ends in a bit of a mess can't blame them for going at it though because realistically it's pointless to tear it down and go halfway with this playing list profile.

I have no opinion of how this ends I shall just watch

Add in Stephens, DeKoning, Close, Kreuger. Then we have many good picks in a strong draft next year.

I don't think the cliff is as big as some opposition fans hope.

Good post. Yeah many of those over 30’s will play around 16 games before finals. Selwood, Higgins, smith, Tommy, paddy , Hendo, touhy, Duncan, menongola, Guthrie etc can’t play every game .
Narkle, Simpson and Clarke etc gonna be important .
Bigger grounds, MCG games, 22 H & A games. Those old legs won’t carry it through the whole year. SQUAD MENTALITY needed.

With the potential for a huge discrepancy between this draft and the next, I just want to illustrate the difference in value for picks between a strong draft and a weak draft.

In Maroon, 2002 to 2004 drafts
In Light Blue 1999 to 2001 super drafts

Top 10 picks, there isn't too much difference

After the top 10 you start to see a clear gap

1605181312809.png
1605181327064.png
1605181341572.png

Starts to narrow by the 50s
1605181355774.png

1605181411960.png
In the 70s, half the players aren't even debuting

Bonus: 10s in a weak draft vs 20s in a strong draft, pretty even

Yeah I think we’ve done very well and have taken into consideration the strengths of next years draft. I wasn’t keen on Higgins but he’ll be good next year at least. Smith and Cameron are massive ins. And overall I’m not concerned about the draft picks that have come out. I also don’t agree with those that talk down our youth. We had a good amount of young players in the team this year. And have some others developing, it also speaks to the culture that good players didn’t want to leave.
Im not sure how fans or the media can be anything but positive about geelong. Made the grand final, recruited really well and have players developing across most positions except ruck.
Its an assessment based on the youth they know we have.. and the questionable quality of those they don't know.

We will struggle to have a pick that can add too much this year , let see how many spots we have to fill at the draft. A ruck in the draft would be a clever way to use a late pick.

Add Evans, Jarvis and Taheny......Evans was perilously close to selection....and Jarvis debuted....

Thank you for the voice of balance and reason. It's a rare commodity in these parts.

Can someone a little more educated then me tell me if the NAB league age got lifted from u18’s to u19’s for next season.
I know there was talk about it.
If that’s the case, the top 30 next year is almost like the top 15 of any other year

Deeeeeep
yes to u19 ... so the kids who slip thru have an extra year to develop and thats then added to the normal draft..

Id not say that ..just that it will be a good one..
If we end up with 3 picks in the top 30 and 2 of them from the Cameron deal it needs to be spoken about more.
Think it’s very important for people to understand how COVID has effected this years draft and more than likely improved 2021’s draft

The unknowns ... once we start to see these guys come thru then our list will not seem as thin. Lets face it most media do not know the list like we do.. same as any club I guess

every year I hear commentry like ... The Hawks have found one etc. What they think a guys just dropped out of the air. He was drafted 2 years ago.

Evans show the type of form in the clips I saw that indicate a goal kicking small forward..more my style than just pressure guys.
Taheny .. was rated so high and slid.. so who knows what we will have in Y2 ..he could be a real "find"
Jarvis ..we ll they must rate him to throw him to the Lions..arhh I mean Tigers

The thing is most of the kids we have are going to have to be phenomenal to break into our side.Thats the hard part cause ..unless we draft super high talent , basically top10 talent ..I do not see any easy games coming their way.

Its too open for that atm .. If Ess play GWS in the GF .. the there is a good chance we have P39 and P40 ... If both finish bottom then we get two picks earlier than our last pick we traded thsi year. Its too hard to write into something snappy.

Id say there is a good chance we have 3 in the top 30, but there is a good chance we have 2 in the top 20, maybe there is a chance we trade to have one in the top 20 this year... just too hard to nail. Most of the reporters go crossed eyed reporting on DVI points
