Wells and crew need to go after players with good skill, so many picks we have had their kicking skills sucks.

Agree, but also need to chase competitors and not just "good blokes". The no d!ckhead policy has seen us become a team full of nice guys. Need another Chappy or Stevie J type or a Scarlett clone who hates losing. Reckon our guys accept losses a bit easy.

Even thought thats true ...I think it will get to who we assess is the most talenetd. Backman , wingmen. whatever. WE can add pure mids..like with Constable and if the MC doesn't rate their capabilities then they will not get the chance to adapt.

Id say what we are most in need of is talented, quick youth...especially capable of winning their own ball.Lets hope there are a few available at out pick

We do need mids and the concern might be that brown doesnt quite develop into a mid long term only a half back but i would argue as much as urr mids we need more run and better ball use all over the ground and his ball use is very good so he could well be in the frame for our picks.

Ross Lyon to have on a coaching panel would be phenomenal, he has a great footy brain and has coached sides to premierships regardless of game style he wouldn't necessarily need to impart that side of things to the game plan but knowledge would be immense.
Never won a flag. Makes football very defensive and dull. Contributed to ruining the game. Don't want flooding. Want attractive football.

For all the speculation of coaches I hope they actually make a decision and announcement soon. I know it’s the off season but I’d be wanting the coaches to start developing what they’re doing soon.
With a few new faces and the hopeful possibility of a new game plan they need to get to work.
I’m not a fan of Lyon but I do like the fact that the club is looking for the best possible coaches to help the team. I’m sure Egan is a decent coach but I really hope it’s not just jobs for the boys mentality.

I think someone who can call Scotty on a bad idea will be great for Scotty and Geelong

In all the pressers after match and mid week that Scott does. I've often heard him say openly some match comittee discussion has been "robust" and he hasn't always won the final decision. So it may not all be on CS, he does get push back.

Can't we have non-dickheads who don't like to lose?? I'm all for the no dickheads policy. Just wish they'd stick to it more closely. Dickheads destroy everything.

Was excellent in defence and a different player to the one we let go. I rate him but there are a couple of other mature players I would rather draft
We definitely need another tall KPD. There is no guarantee that SDK will simply slot in and do well enough to play every game, even if he stays fit. If Blics gets injured, we are in trouble.
The advantage with Schlensog is we could get him as a DFA so not using a draft pick. Do you have any others in mind, preferably with some experience?
If the club considers Schlensog will only get better, we should take him in any case. Young tall potential swingman.

you actually look at the age of our forward half and as long as hawkins holds form and cameron just stays fit, we could have a significantly improved front half. Alot of the smalls/mediums are coming into an age bracket where they could be improving in leaps and bounds. highlighted below the age profile of our 4 of our medium/small forwards which shows there is potential for significant improvement in our front half if they have strong pre seasons and development comes along as hoped.

B: Jed Bews, Mark Blicavs, Tom Stewart
HB: Jack Henry, Jake Kolodjashnij, Mark O'Connor
C: Mitch Duncan, Joel Selwood, Isaac Smith
HF: Brad Close (24), Tom Hawkins, Tyson Stengle (23)
F: Gryan Miers (23), Jeremy Cameron, Gary Rohan
Foll: Rhys Stanley, Cameron Guthrie, Patrick Dangerfield
I/C: Esava Ratugolea, Sam Menegola, Zach Tuohy, Francis Evans (21)

I would have a look at Schlensog and Brander as a swing man if Esava is in form I think Stanley could go key back in an emergency like Mckevoy has

I hate when we do it against the tall forwards but against smaller ones I don’t mind Henry or Kolo playing tall- they have done it against Riewoldt - but against king it was rediculous

Neale could get a few games as a key back

If we are worried about exposing youngsters as long as you play Blitz Henry and Stewart and to a lesser extent Kolo next to them - there is no reason to think there isn’t cover in third man up

Yep, noted. But on the other side of the coin, Lyon will bring, high level coaching experience, hard learnt lessons, the ability to provide Geelong with feedback on their game plan and opposition game plans. This aspect could be significant in evolving how we play with the players we have.

absolutely he would, and rightfully so. The assistant coaches have quite a significant say at the table about what goes on. Anything less and they probably arent suitable to be there in that role.

A no dickhead policy would stop a club drafting players like Dusty or Gawn these days. Nothing wrong with being a bit rough around the edges at a young age.

do we have a good bloke policy?? where did you hear something like that?? we did just bring in tyson stengle thru the door who has a history of troubled past.

the chase for ash hansen must have fallen flat??

Ross Lyon would be a phenominal assistant coaching get, especially as either a midfield coach or a defense coach. is this actually a rumour with legs or just bigfooty rumour nonsense??

Went and played WAFL.
Impressed initially as a CHB - put a six week block together of absolutely elite football. Two of those games were forward and he kicked a bag of 5 and another 4 goal game. Showed massive improvement in his ability to intercept mark. Tailed off a bit at the end of the season and had some people claiming his one on one stuff looked a little shaky at times. However, to come from a Cat B rookie who played almost no footy last year to being talked about in the top 5 KPD's available and a top 30 talent in this draft pool speaks to how much he has improved playing regular senior footy. Only 21, i hope we get him back.

Thanks for that - all make sense with that background information. Doesn't happen often, at 21 might be a good replacement for Krueger and put pressure on the likes of Kolo and Zuthrie.

Hansen got offered a bigger role, so he took it. Lyon is back page news in the papers.

Not exact of course. but I can see him becoming a Guthrie type mid with his ability get around the ground. There is quite a few that look like they have decent chances..

A grab from SEN reporting on the so called "heated" phone call between Wellsy and Clark. For which Clark segwayed into the other "supposedl" rift between him and Scarlo. Each to there own on their feelings toward Scarlett in relationship towards Clark. The only thing i was against was the groups w in the side that Scarlett naturally had the backs Aside from him the playing legend i liked his abrasiveness. Screenshot_20211016-124437_Chrome.jpg

No worries at all.
He's 199cm and 99kg too so a much more natural fit to play KPD than kolo or Guthrie. Maybe more physically ready to step in next year than SDK.
I like taking him as a DFA, will allow us to concentrate on mids at the draft.

Future Defence looking like it's got good bones...

Henry, SDK, Zuthrie
Stevens, Schlensog, Stewart

Wouldn't be surprised to see us take Alleer if he slides to the 30's. May still offer rookie spots to one of Skinner/Brander/Dean as KPD depth too.

very political straight bat, but i don't necessarily take that as a great quote of his relationship with scarlett either. Sounds very neutral and if i had to take a punt at what he might say behind closed doors, it would more than likely be on the negative end of the stick based off that.
