Right now with pick 23 the Dogs only have a 135 point surplus on the picks they have if a bid comes at pick 2 (they will need 2014 to match)

So that means if they trade pick 23 (815 p) away they will need at least 680 points in 2021 to ensure they won't go into deficit next year.

As I suggested before a 23,52 (WB) for 32,34 and F3 (Cats) would be good for both teams.
- They could probably trade 32 down and into next years again with another team maybe Ess.

I suspect they could also see him slide to 4 or 5. Its not a certainty that he will bid on at 2.

It was pretty much as expected..which is not what I expect will happen. I suspect we would take Butler if there and I think Howes will go earlier than 30. If he gets to our picks in the 30's it will be a real win.

Depends how strong family and friends ties are back in Geelong . He may also be grateful to the club for forcing the off field changes (if correct) to approach conditioning more professionally.

Agree wholeheartedly. I think Holmes will be elite within 2-3 years provided he does not get struck down by injuries. As we have mentioned before Lingy missed from the goal square early on. Holmes is obviously not an elite kick but trusting that it will improve markedly as he matures.

He hasn’t played any footy for two years and still worked his way into a top half afl side

I agree he will be a gun— Ablett was a mess in his debut game - speaking of- I wonder if yablett could be a part time skills coach over summer

Actually think Knevitt will slide on draft day. From the few pieces I’ve read, he sounds too Constable like. Low impact or hurt factor per disposal. Could be wrong but assume he’s mostly mentioned on here just because he’s from the area…

The thing with players like Holmes is you need them running to the right space, and not being afraid to attack. He missed some easy shots, he STILL goes hard after it and is willing to do it again. With players like him, it will click. It means his skill shots come from being rushed or thinking he has less time than he does, but he is still adjusting to the speed of the AFL and how he fits in. Its common with young players, the concern would be if he takes a mark 25m out and immediately looks to give it off. He doesn't.

And its not a skills issue because he hits targets in other parts of the field. Its all above the shoulders but what he needs is experience, he isn't like a Tenace.

Schlensog was much better than SDK this year but SDK a much better talent long term. Thing I like about him is he has a bit of campaigner in him. He actually reminds of Scarlett in that regard in which he is hated by the opposition and their supporters and he is always sledging and niggling. Thats from what I have seen anyway.

Personally don't think he is a great match for our list as it didn't work out last time. There are other younger state league players i would grab first.

What are you talking about? I'm just saying that you stated 3 players names in regards to poor player development and of those only one data point actually supports what you're saying.

Even that kid got a 4 year contract from a club in his home state so maybe not even that.

Well I think my point was that if you are those things then you need to be one right out of the box but I guess you just made it for me. Also Joel was definitely not one paced when he came in. He was a junior athletics star and a state 400m champ. Wash your mouth out and choose J Bartel if you are trying to make that point.

I always thought bartel had that aerial capability.

You’re definitely right with your point. Caleb Daniel is the only one who uses his size to his advantage. The others get tagged easily or brushed aside.

That depends on whether guys like schlensog have senior list offers from other clubs..if they do we will probably need to match that or he will go elsewhere. If he has no rival interest then i agree rookie list or SSP him.
