He didn’t even attend his interview when he was lined up with us before picking ess

he wouldn’t be very popular with us now after that…plus he’s an absolute dickhead

Contract year form for Stringer. Same as Motlop, same as Narkle. Don't get sucked in peeps.

sounds like Gold Coast are a leaky boat again....

Ainsworth for a R2 pick world be value but is contracted so I cant see him going anywhere cheap for a while.

......... others insist up to a dozen players, including top draft picks Ben Ainsworth, Will Brodie and Brayden Fiorini, are eyeing the exit door.

It's far from a straightforward question at the club at this point, though. The very reason we have Rata, Fort and Stanley drifting around the place in terms of consideration for senior selection is that we have no clear first choice ruck at the club. I still think Rhys deserves that mantle but that is clearly not how the MC sees it. And I think Esava has been distinctly underwhelming in the role so far this year. They can 'back him in' as much as they like; he still doesn't look like really influencing the game positively for us in the middle of the ground at this point. And I don't see Fort as anything like a reasonable option to be a first choice ruck in the AFL.

We have five rucks now on the list (not including Blitz), and seemingly none of them can demand the role (or look like they're capable of holding it down capably for 2022, either). Neale and Tsap have time on their side, and the other three are seemingly not demanding selection.

To me, Rhys is still clearly the only ruck we have whose ceiling is currently high enough to be anything more than a 'barely break even' option against the best rucks. So how they don't pursue that course in the absence of better options at this point is still staggering to me. I'm still hopeful (but not holding my breath) that his creditable performance for the Bankers last week might have pushed his case for this week.

In any case, unless Rhys wants to pack it in (and the way he's been stuffed around by the club over the years might easily have him thinking it's time to exit), I could easily see him being offered another year or so. Because if we're truly going into next season with only Esava and Fort as our viable choices as first ruck, I think we are just asking for trouble.

The irony of the wilderness that has been our last ten years in the ruck role after the glory of our three-time premiership superstar monstering it when it mattered is both bitter and biting at this point.

I think when youre over 30 and not best 22 which they dont seem to view rhys as the end is nigh.

We definitely need to trade in a ready to go ruck if he leaves though imo.

Oh man, I almost want a trade embargo here. Make the team functional first then ask for a trade.

Is there any news we might be into Lipinski?

I only saw a bit of last week's VFL, but he seems way too good for that level (unless there's a Constable-type issue going on?). And if we lose both Narkle and Constable at the end of the season, our mid depth is going to be pretty much Simpson - who effectively missed the 2021 season - and Stephens, who also missed 2021 and has played bugger all AFL or VFL for the past two years.

That said, decent depth midfielders wouldn't be too hard to find - I'd just prefer us to get in some players who'll lift the team moving forward rather than stop-gaps.

Young pat would be a quality pick up but would think he's headed somewhere he can run out b22 from day 1 or stay at the dogs

I reckon he’d walk into our team. I’d love us to chase him.

Bugger all Cooper Cockatoo has not played a official game for the cats in AFL or VFL

Well, that's bugger all, isn't it? The point was it'd be a stretch to call him even "depth" right now, which means the cupboard is close to bare if Constable and Narkle go (not counting Holmes, who's super promising but still developing).

Technically no as bugger all still means a little but get what you mean lol

Wait one second... are you saying Sumich has now got this 100% officially wrong???

Mind. blown.

(And yes, it would've been nice to snag him... but Meek looks like a decent consolation prize.)

Just need him to talk more on Cerra...and yes, Meek can play.
I have a feeling he'll grow into a very competent ruck...perhaps more...If Darcy wasn't so good he'd be playing more.

Given the stench that often comes from Lobb I'd play him a bit more often

I've seen literally 30 seconds of Meek playing, so I could be speaking out of my rear, but is Lobb a little more flexible between playing forward and in the ruck?

You are correct. Lobb is much maligned as he cost a reported $700k. I for one am happy we have him with our crippling injury curse particularly of KPP's.

It is going to get to quite a ridiculous poiny where gill has to fall on his sword and admit its failed... A relocation to tasmania should be on the cards instead of a complete fold.

Hed have the same problem being best 22 here as he has at the dogs..he will go to a bottom 8 club where he can be best 22.

Darcy signed until 2024

Interestingly takes him to free agency. Id assume you guys wanted him signed longer but his manager probably wants him to maximise his $ by becoming OOC in an FA year. But good news for you guys hes a super player and look forward to seeing him become even more elite.
