He's an idiot, but he wouldn't have attributed a statement to GC or posted the extra details about the extension of contract from AFL house, to split the amount owed - if he didn't have actual info. He also doesn't say 'it is believed' or 'it is thought'...he says 'Gold Coast will expect a Future 2nd rounder.'

The gc manager was on trade radio and he didn't say first round back. If they wanted a first rounder he would've made that clear there and then

GC want a team to take on a massive salary, of course they have to give up something attractive for a team take it on. The Treloar trade is the only similar trade in recent history. That was a 12 pick upgrade, for only 1/3 of a contract. We are taking on 100% of the contract, so a pick in the 30’s next year for pick 7 makes sense. It’s a little overs, but GC have a bunch of academy kids next year and some significant names to resign. Bookmark it, no first will be handed from us.

In statistics, when you have a variable that doesn’t vary between observations it has no predictive power. The issue with your theory is that everyone has a single figure pick - both losers and winners - so it doesn’t mean anything as a predictor of success.

Financial security will be a big factor at his age and his manager will be suggesting there's one good contract left before he retires.

I think he'll be speaking with the club and the club will be supportive if he flags an interest to move elsewhere.

7 is worth 1644 which is about two early 20s picks or say a mid-teen and a mid-20s pick. Maybe you get a bit more for giving up the early pick.

We would have to see how other deals play out.

Closest at the moment are:

• WC have 20+26=1641
• Brisbane have 15+34=1656

I have no idea if they are in the market or not.

I cant see an obvious club who is a fit for him given his age. I think its more likely he stays although i would be ok if he went.
