Shoenmakers draft. Might be a bit overwhelming next year, but the following year no issues. Beautiful kick and great intercept marking option. 194/195cm. No issues with the monsters, he is the monster. Think Steven May but an extra inch and half taller... maybe an extra inch in girth due to alphaness, can i say that? locker-room talk... sorry ladies. I just had a bottle of wine, let's have a laugh at least. LOLWe need a backman that can handle the monsters and OBRIEN appears to be too short
I honestly doubt it.Just out of curiosity, does anybody have an idea of who the players late in the draft are that Mackie seems excited about?

He’s been linked to us in previous years but I’d be interested to ask the Lions about Gardner. He’s no world beater but would be a good addition to our defence. He’s going to struggle for games at the lions next year and certainly beyond that when doedee is fit.
I’m not a fan of Kolo, plus we’re losing Esava and Henry’s injuries are of concern. We have very little defensive depth. We already have Kolodashnij why would we want his alternative pallet swap.

You have to remember this is their job, not ours. Their approach to list management is completely different to what we do on here.I honestly doubt it.
And for the last 20 years it's the geelong/wells way to turn players other teams pass on into diamonds. I.e. picks 20 - 40. I guess part of that is because we never get top 10 picks. You have to remember this is their job, not ours. Their approach to list management is completely different to what we do on here.
I'd assume that Mackie/Wells have spent all year, and even years prior evaluating and scouting players that they believe can help improve our side.
Is it that outlandish that he's got some names in mind that excite him late in the draft? It's not like we haven't done it before.
In theory he could play the games Sav did this year but I'd think majority VFL in 2024 and seniors in 2025. The elephant in the room is the obvious player taking his spot is Kolo. Its a very different game afl and do we have a spot for him atm? Does he play along side Sam dek?
id take a FR1 and FR2 for 7.... depending on the the team etc.Looking at what GC has been offered for 4 ...only 3 picks later... I think want a good deal to trade out p7. I don't see anything West Coast or Carlton have (atm) that would tempt me. It may change if Wc reap a pirates loot if they trade p1 to North.

CATS' PICK BEING EYED OFF
CLUBS are tossing up ways they can move higher up the draft order over the next month, with Geelong's pick No.7 the next selection to be viewed by rival teams as a potential landing spot.
A handful of teams including Carlton and West Coast are among those with interest in getting higher up the draft order, having made enquiries with clubs about what it would take to shift into a better position. Melbourne, which holds picks 13 and 23, could also be another contender to shift up the board, as may North Melbourne given its suite of selections.
Geelong is viewed as a candidate to potentially trade back, or trade into the future, with clubs eyeing off its No.7 selection as a trade target.
Cats football boss Andrew Mackie recently told AFL.com.au's trade and draft show Gettable that the club would put its top-10 pick on the table for the right package during the upcoming trade window.
Honestly his very similar to Tim O'Brien, so no point giving up anything if we can get Tim for free and they are both backup optionsHe’s been linked to us in previous years but I’d be interested to ask the Lions about Gardner. I haven't watched a ton but from what I saw I don't know that he actually played as a kpd. He also looked pretty slow. Maybe I'm watching the wrong footageShoenmakers draft. In all honesty, he has the perfect traits to partner with SDK, who will do the lockdown and intercept marking too... This guy will be lockdown and play making with his kicking.

Arie Schoenmaker Draft Profile
Arie Schoenmaker possesses a lethal left boot and is among the best playmaking defenders in this year's AFL Draft crop.central.rookieme.com
I don't think we say to the first scenario. Two Darcy Lang range draftees for a Joel Selwood range draftee? If it’s Carlton current first and future first.
If West Coast future first and third.

What would Carlton or WCE give up for pick 7?
Still talked a big game about how he wouldn't go for cheap etc etc.
What would Carlton or WCE give up for pick 7?
What would Carlton or WCE give up for pick 7?
WCE - F1 and something else
Carlton - 2023 1st, 2024 1st, 2025 1st....in other words Carlton can go F themselves.
Wce wont offer their fr1 when they likely finish bottom 2 surely.
The only way i see wce getting 7 is if they trade down 1 to 2(nm) or 4 (haw) and in the process grab 14 off nm or fr1 off haw. Then they offer us one of those 2 picks plus something else for 7.
Problem with that approach is that we have 5 list spots to fill. We could promote Dempsey and possible Mullin from rookie list which would mean we only needed to fill 3 spots but all 3 picks would be at 80 odd and we have to keep those players on the list for 2 years. If we trade for multiple picks needs to be 2 second rounders in this year's draft. I would rather keep pick 7 and increase our chances of getting a decent player. Take our chnace's on the late picks.id take a FR1 and FR2 for 7.... depending on the the team etc.
I like the idea of building a draft hand for 2024.
This year seems very top heavy and with the retirements of next year ( 2E, Tomma, maybe PFD.. we will have TPP and list spots to fill and will need ammo for it.
And given how much we got last year with OH, Bowes and pick 7 and Bruhn, we can be quieter this year and not suffer from it.
