Not sure if the Crows will end up with end of first round compo for Dodee but if they do they will hold something like 9, 21, 22 and 25.

Maybe they could get involved for GC's #4 because 21, 22 and 25 = more points than the Dogs 10 + 17.

They’re more likely to get a second round compensation for him. The deal is similar to McStays last year by the sounds of it.

Even if they did get a first, I imagine dogs picks would still be more appealing. Pick 10 is attractive enough they could on trade that again for more picks.

Sean Darcy & Bailey Smith still haven’t signed…. Surely….. gotta have a crack at those two…

If saints and Essendon concocted a deal for Gresham and Shiel so that saints get 20 (band 2) as compo for Gresham and passed that to Dons for Shiel
Essendon could then send zerk and 20 to port for Duursma
Port could then send 20 to cats for Sav and a f4

Both are still contracted for next year - so it's not like they have to look for a new home in the next fortnight

And still an easy pass on Darcy for me

Dogs are said to be involving their Future 1st as well - so no team will have more points than them, IMO.
For sure... I heard that also but just can't believe anyone would give up 10, 17 + an F1 for a pick that will end but probably being #6.

Although the Dogs 10 + 17 will also push out... Maybe they will get a F2 back or something like that.

But yeah if the Dogs do add more value on top of 10 + 17 it'll likely get it done.

Really interested to see how it all unfolds... Probably on draft night.

Yeah… but the pre agents are the gettable ones I think before they extend.
Disagree that Darcy is gettable - a lot of talk around him extending, plus he's currently on crazy money and Fremantle would be asking for 2 x first round picks for him, which I'm not sure he's worth

They're both already contracted, what exactly are signing?

I guess some think that unless a player has signed a 7-yr extension prior to coming out of contract, that the remainder of the current contract doesn't mean shit

The reality is that contracts really don't mean shit anyway we we've seen with Grundy

If Gc get 10 and 17 and a pick next year for P4... then trade P10 for points ..and p17 for points ...what way wins? TheY must have theIR spreadsheet working OT up there....

I really wouldn't want him anyway.. would have thought he be about the worst fit going around for our system and style

Particularly with Conway basically getting the 'Superstar in waiting’ treatment.

They're both pure ruckman who can't play elsewhere. It would end up being Gawn/Grundy 2.0 in a couple years time.

You'd think Darcy wouldn't be coming until 2025 at the earliest, and that's exactly when Toby should be taking over and starting to become the player we all hope he can be.

From what I can guess, I believe we're treating both 2022, and now 2023 as years where bringing in young talent is the priority, with 2020 and 2021 still achieving that goal as well.

We'll probably look to bring in some bigger names over '24 & '25, but I doubt Darcy is one of them.

A gun midfielder like Smith and a number 1 Key Forward (quite literally) in Cadman suit our list build over the coming years IMO, with the goal being competing for premierships in '26 & '27 onwards with that group.

Obviously anything can happen between now and then. The window could be pushed forward or back depending on who we bring in, who develops well/doesn't develop well, but that would be the strategy I'd say.

What's the scuttlebutt with Cadman? Is he just a local or are there already whispers?

Ceglar was interviewed on trade radio yesterday, interesting bit that caught my attention was when he was asked about Conway. Who seems to be getting a lot of attention on there probably a lot to do with Jenkins influence. He was full of praise for Conway, said he and Stanley were taken back by some of his training against them.
When he was asked if he is ready to be the main ruck he said no, he’s missed a lot of footy and it’s really hard generally for rucks to play each week at his age and development. Said the club should be looking to get up to 10 games from him next year. And that geelong are great at managing players and confident they’ll do that with him.

That’s in line with my thoughts hopefully he had a full season next year with a number of afl games but highly unlikely he can play every week.

I’m still hopeful we are going to add another ruck although comments from Mackie don’t give me much hope. I’m not concerned with a combo of Stanley, Blicavs and Conway. But an injury and we’re in big trouble and two of those guys have been consistently injured.
Conway is a ripper. He'll be the best ruckman in the comp in 3 years.
Do you think Dogs may have asked Coft not to nominate them yet so that interested clubs interview him and the Dogs can then get a gauge on where a bid might come from when he does finally nominate the Dogs?
The Dogs have a surplus of tall forwards plus they have another Darcy coming. I fully expect JUH to be in Geelong colours one day.
How does this comment potential impact trades for top end picks - there's nothing draft tampering to it, but suddenly, teams out east may not be as concerned to pull the trigger

Jordan Clark said the same thing.

As an aside, I was speaking to Steven King's uncle today and he's going to ring him and find out If a move back home is on the cards.

He's a Bacchus Marsh local. And I was the one that heard the whisper after speaking to someone close to him here.

Sounds like you were right earlier and King is staying at Goldie for now.
He’d be great to have back at the club hopefully he ends up there at some stage. A year under Hardwick might not be a bad thing either.

I play lawn bowls with his uncle. I also played today with another former cat. Frank Pomeroy.

I very happy to go with who they feel is best available. Caddy or Wilson probably suit our needs either way..especially if Caddys 2K time is reasonable
I’m sure I read yesterday that Caddy ran 6:30 but unfortunately I can’t find the article again to confirm this.
