Nth Melbourne #15, #17, #18.

Plus #2 and #3. Already brimming with young talent, have plenty of SC and in desperate need of a key back to replace McKay who left and Logue who will miss most of next year.
Will SavRat walk from the club to NM if that's the case? He might end up signing up with us again.

The most likely outcome is he is traded to Port, they'll just offer us a better deal at the last minute.

I'm guessing we're pushing for Freo's F2 as part of the deal along with 25.

You're still spending ~$3mil on someone who doesn't want to be there.

I also can't think of a single occurrence of this happening?

Nick Stevens.

If it gets to Wednesday afternoon I'm backing a bit of future pick swapping gets the deal done. Like our F2nd for Freos F2nd & 25. It'll get done.
Not sure about that one. It's a bit of punting.

Sure Freo are expected to be stinkers next season, but so could we.

It just doesnt happen in modern footy, you burn bridges with players, list managers and player agents, footy clubs just dont conduct themselves in that manner.

Geelong Football Club is excited to officially announce Rhys Stanley, Zach Tuohy and Gary Rohan will play on in 2024.

Joining teammate Tom Hawkins who signed a one-year contract extension on Friday, the trio have all signed one year contract extensions and will remain at GMHBA Stadium until at least the end of next season.

Stanley, who joined the Cats from St Kilda in the 2014 Trade Period, has played 138 games since joining the Club, kicking 65 goals.

I reckon Nth are a chance of picking him up.
I think Hawthorn would also be a chance. May depend on how they structure the payment. If the offer is $700k for 5 years. Port and Esava may make it $1.5m for the first year and $500k per year for the remaining 4 which may well put Nth and Hawthorn out of it. To get there Port would need to rearrange payments with existing players if they are able to.

I expect though there will be a deal right on the closing time.

Too many twists and turns.
The whole thing is compromised.
From the fixturing to the drafting.
If you play with a straight bat you are compromised.

All 4 playing out their last year with the club.
In my gut i want them not to get too many games with our youngsters stepping up and overtaking them on merit.

So ...if we do not move on Sav... and Port dont move ..... does he get thru to 25/30 in the draft ... and Port take him with the pick they are offering?
I pondered that yesterday. I think yes he could unless North grab him with one of their late first rounders.

In saying that... there is no way they would want it to go that way, especially with teams being able to trade picks around willy-nilly well after the trade period and on draft night.

There's alot of water to go under the bridge and time before the draft... Just thinking of ways Port could miss, I could imagine a world where Sav feels let down by Port by them not getting a trade done and then he is now in this situation that would be hella stressful.

Geelong could come back to the party with a better offer and Sav can re-sign after trade period (CS clearly loves him).
Hawks could show him lots of love after Port let him down and trade up ahead of #25.
North could show him love and convince him to just go into the PSD and they'd get him.

Either way Sav is gonna get paid.

There are lots of ways where Port could miss out on this very important piece of their puzzle because they did not get the job done for a player that they need, courted, and committed to (opposite to the way we get guys we target over the line).

I think Port will cough up a little bit more and we will make the trade very late in trade period.

Hawthorn don't have a pick in the draft before Port, unless they're taking him at 4, which seems very unlikely.

Any way Geelong match Ports offer for a year..and he gets to FA? The issue (if I were Port/Sav)... no certainty that Ports offer is there at the end of 2024.

Trading Day think Port get a Fr3 in the Duursma trade which then flows on to us.

Surprised 2E got the green light to play next year

Bargain really.
Instant starter, instant upgrade to an already premiership team.
Windows close quick. Sometimes a lot quicker than u realise.

Schultz is an underrated player but a fair bit of downside risk with the F1 involved. If they win the flag again then it will be a good deal but small forward doesn't scream to me like an area of need for the Pies so if they do have a hangover it could bite.

He's a known goal kicker...

Puts pressure on others to hold a spot in the F 50.

Port dont have the cap space to frontload him that way and they dont have the cap space to ward off nth melb.
