For sure, I’ve also noticed they have some thickness to them… the existing is simply two planes intersecting to create the ‘triangular’ design we’ve ended up with, where the new elements have a thickness to them with an extra triangular element protruding below (and an interior truss system as seen in section). I guess this is what gives rise to the deeper stand as compared with the existing, with some additional structural integrity. Clever.

Re your observation - just a lay persons comment

If you have ever read the science behind Lightning - and still some of it - is unexplained

But a couple of factors - it will allways hit the highest structure - and it loves pointy objects - like so many Church spires have been hit

That top picture - im no engineer and i dont know the materials its made from - but if there was severe lightning about - i reckon there is a fair chance that pointy roof could get hit

Even yourself - its not 1 in a million you will get hit - it is 1 in 12000 - i dont like those odds

But a couple of factors - it will allways hit the highest structure - and it loves pointy objects - like so many Church spires have been hit

And I know there shorter than the light towers, but are the "claws" on the bank of the Hickey stand taller than the roof points of the other stands?

Not sure when number 6 is going up but if you are in the neighbourhood wander by and get up close. You can get a real idea of how it all goes together with the adjoining sections and just how big these 43 metre long monsters are!

Can’t wait for standing room to return. I’ve always stood at KP to watch for the last 45 years. Glad that the club listened to us and kept the standing room.

I’m not interested in having a seat, but I wonder if the club has considered selling ‘Reserved Standing Room’ for members? I’d be prepared to pay a little extra to have a spot in standing room reserved for the season rather than just ‘first in best dressed’.

They could call the standing room members ‘The Ferals’ or ‘The Feral Cats’ [emoji3]

Thats the Geelong Cricket Ground which shared with Geelong Umplres league.

Thanks for that - i havent been their for many many years

But i am getting my bearing a bit out of whack - like the train tracks or train - use to be sort of high or up above the City end goals on about a 45 degree angle to the ground going to the South Geelong station

The landscaping is beginning to take shape. Train line, cricket facilities and car park, new path around the cricket oval and a re-sown grass area are starting to reveal themselves

Cricket, golf, horse racing, come to mind.

Compared to Australian Rules Football across the country at all levels, the AFL grounds are quite similar. I think a bit of variety makes it interesting.

Did u know there is not even a standard dimension for soccer pitches. Even in the EPL

Lol I am like the anti-volcboy, the only game I would ever consider standing for would be for a GF. And I would still be shitty about it lol.

It's the same with rugby league, the in goal lengths vary. It's a good thing for the game
