Yep, I thought we were pretty good too. All that talk about being "competitive" during the week must've seeped in..Can only get better from here.

Yes, well done Melbourne. I've watched all of Melbourne's games so far this year and today the en devour was certainly alot greater. Not many teams would get that close to Geelong at Skilled.

Yeah good effort, we still made some fundemental skill errors especially in the backline. I just don't understand what our game plan is on the kickouts ,if we clear the ball past our defensive 50 we're ok but then when we pass inside the 50 we struggle. Either way the performance today shows some encouraging signs ,love to know what the inside 50's were for both teams.

After the shocking start to 2008, that performance was all we could ask for as fans. The boys were switched on from the start, booting the first 3 goals amidst the Geelong premiership flag lovefest. And while the Cats booted away, we never stopped working hard for the entire four quarters, and always kept ourselves in the game. The pressure we put on them was great. I think we stifled their corridor game plan, and I was shocked to see them turn the ball over so often. Obviously, we turned it over more, and made some silly decisions, but like I said, I'm happy with the effort and hopefully it gives us something to build on.

Well done boys.

Kudos to Melbourne. It was never gonna be easy for us after the media drubbing & disrespect giving to the Demons.
Geelong were crap but your attack at the ball was the reason.
I thank you blokes for that game as it teaches the players never to be complacent.
As far as the media doom and gloom for Melbourne, forget about it.
You made Geelong look like amateurs at times today, and that can only say so much for Melbourne. Things are looking up. :thumbsu:

Thanks, Big Nasty.

Just pleasing to finally see heart. We didn't win, but I couldn't care to be honest. All I wanted to see was a four quarter effort. Hopefully we've won a little bit of respect back.

It's the first time I've been so happy we've lost.

Basically because we lost by 5 goals not 15 :thumbsu:

go MELBOURNE

very happy with the performance, it definitely looks like we have found a new ruckman for the future and a new young gun in morton, and jones copping the ling tag from the first bounce just shows how good a player he has become

with jones and mclean alternating as two clearance players we should be much improved around stoppages

Plenty of positives for Melbourne today.

For the first time all year I think there was some intensity from your senior players. You have some good young blokes there, Morton in particular has slotted in beautifully.

I also liked Paul Johnsons' game today. Really worked his ass off around the ground this afternoon. Aussie added a bit to your side today also.

Some good positives for the Dees yesterday. Well done! I for one want to see the oldest team in the league stay in the competition.

Great effort by the dees!! Johnson is shaping up to be our new No.1 ruckman. Aussie was sensational and Morton, what can I say??? This guy weighs about the same as a stick insect, yet still takes on blokes double his size, i went absolutely apeshit when he took down Rooke.Cant wait to see him out there with a season or 2 of gym work under his belt!!!

I think it was just the last 5 min of the first quater & the start of the second that cost us from memory otherwise it would have only been a one goal or so in it.

But what the hell went on in the goal square, Hawkin's who turns like the Queen Mary crumbed 3 in the square. & how about Carrols "rushed" behind, that is the stuff that kills you.
