Griffen or Franklin

I'll stick with Griffen, I think he might be even slightly ahead of where Cooney was at this stage.
Griffen - Ray - Cooney will become the most feared centreline in the league.

We say we need a forward target, yet we still would rather Griffen over Franklin.

I dont see Franklin being a Key forwad target in the future some one like Roughhead would have been better.

Franklin will be in the mould of a Riewoldt...

Do you think Riewoldt is Key target?

i dont even see him as a Riewoldt typw more of a Adam Goods type good leap but not a contested marker where as Grif will be a top midfielder

That appears to be a common view, but I don't buy it.

At the moment Franklin lacks the bulk to play effectively in a key position, but another hard preseason should rectify this.

It is likely that inside of 18 months he'll end up standing at 198cm and weighing close on 100kg.

He has the capacity to fill a number of roles, and I don't see why he should be incapable of holding down CHF given time to grow into it.

Griff....he is silk. We would have picked him up even if we had first pick. Cooney, Ray, Griff, Cross will be an awesome midfield in 2007 - very good now.

Would like Buddy as well, but you can't have them all.

Saw alot of footy from all the top draftees last year and the year before, and loved Griffen, rated him extremely highly.

I will say the Bulldogs made the right call in the future.

Both will be fantastic players, but Griffen will consistantly stand up and get his 20 - 30 disposals every week and be a pure midfielder, whereas Franklin will be on again off again, he'll have his very good games, then he wont see it for the next week.

I beleive the draft went in a very correct order.

The top 5 will all be fantastic players, will go down as one of the best drafts.

don't think the dogs would be unhappy with griffen. The top 5 are all good players, think tigers should of taken franklin at 4 though, could of had deledio and franklin.

Roughead is going to be more a pure key position type for us, once he gets his fitness up is gonna be a top CHF. Franklin could play wing, forward, ruck i imagine, like an adam goodes crossed with chris tarrant.

Griffen looks class though.

Ouch:o

some say the dogs should have taken buddy with there pick 3.
Who would you prefer and why?

id prefer grif but im biased
I'm glad the doggies didn't pick Buddy with their number 3 pick.
But are you serious that you would still prefer Griffen after what Buddy did to destroy the Bulldogs.

in hindsight even though griffen is gonna be a superstar i have anyone who kicks 100 goals in a season for a team who doesnt have a power forward
we picked griffen at #3 because it was a risk getting buddy (unprofessional)
even though griffen is my favourite player unfortunately i rather have buddy
and the funny thing is richmond got tambling hahahahahahahahahahaha:D

Um, date of post was 2005;)

no offence but i think this thread was made by someone who is a bit biased. i think franklin is much better than griffen and also has a lot more upside than him. he also plays a more important position, i'm very glad the dogs chose griffen and let buddy slip through to pick 5.
