OK, so we have had the myriad of Bling V Buddy threads, but what about this one? The Doggies had Pick 3 so could have had Buddy to shore up their Key Forward stocks, but they chose a wingman/half-back flanker. Griffen is 'supposedly' a gun, yet has shown us nothing in this his 'Brownlow Year'. What do ya'll think? Who would you rather?

Buddy. Would be the most sought after 20 yr old if he was out of contract. No doubt in my mind.

I don't get the Griffen hype. Solid player but nothing brilliant yet.

Agree.

He was having a ripping pre season until he was injured. Hopefully next year he can take his football to another level. Remember, he is only 20, he still has a lot more development.

But at this stage Franklin would be ahead, even though i voted for Griff.

Would i want Franklin over Griff. No.

Griffen will be a gun...........but people are justifiably excited by a big bloke who can run and kick goals. If you were asked before you saw either one of them play, if you would prefer a gun midfielder with strength and pace, or a power forward who has pace and goal sense, you'd go the second option every time.

What is it about Doggie supporters and theyre lack of shi+ talking? Easiest supporters to get along with.

thumbs up for your honest opinion.

Saying Griff will only be a good solid player in five years is strange and is probably related to some problem with him due to the constant Deledio / Griff arguments. Having said that I'd take Franklin over anyone in the draft, will be the best of them all

Despite my user name, the truth is bulldog supporters like me haven't had enough success to be arrogant. It is my geatest desire for our club and supporters to be despised in the future :D

Before we run along to our next assignment we must realize that Griffen has played extremely well in his career so far, and has shown great skill of half back.

Franklin, who knows. People say he can't take a mark but if he keeps kicking goals the way he is I wouldn't care. Franklin reached the 50 goal mark early, IIRC earlier than some players like Riewoldt and Brown (not sure though) and that's skill. If I had to pick one, I would pick Franklin, and the thing is, we could have, he was available to us. :o

But Tambling's getting better.

lol just had to throw that last line in there hey Rich :D

Buddy easily :thumbsu: Theres no doubt in my mind that on performances to date he is thus far, the best of the 04 draft. He's the closest to looking like a consistent game breaker at this point in time. Credit where its due, hes a freak :thumbsu:

Griffen oozes class and will be a superstar, no doubt whatsoever, but i think hes been over-hyped to date.

Having said all that I dont think doggies supporters would swap griffen for franklin and hawks fans vice versa.

Ironic that people are picking Buddy on the reasoning that Griffen is all hype and not enough substance.

Hawthorn could have had both, regardless.

I dont see the irony myself, Think back to the game on Sunday, Buddy won the game for the Hawks, I'd say that's fairly substantial. ;)

Yet another example of how everything he does is put through a magnifying glass.

Griffen has arguably achieved more than Franklin at AFL level, and is at least on level footing.

Mate, typical Richmond crap. Have a look inwardly before you start bagging our draft selelctions.
