If GWS were willing to give us one of the 17 year olds in exchange for Houli do we take it?
Yeager O'meara anyone?

In a heartbeat. As much as I love Houli, Jaeger is the best talent that talent scouts have seen in a very long time. However, I doubt that Houli would suffice for the first pick of the mini-draft. I heard a rumour on SEN that there is a done deal between GWS and the Saints. Goddard for a first round pick + J. O'Meara.

didn't nahas and king sign 2 yr deals like a week ago?

It was King and Rance I believe. Nagas yet to re-sign.

Honestly I have more chance of becoming the queen of England than lids going to gws. He bleeds yellow and black, been quoted a few times saying he feels something special building and he believes the current group is the foundation of a team capable of challenging.

Plus he is 24, gws won't be competitive for 5-6 years and by the time they are ready to challenge for a flag he will be 30-32 and his body may not make it. Plus he re-signed with us when we were stone dead last, there is too much promise ATM... WILL NOT GO. IMO :)

Plus you can see him grin ear to ear when he slots a booming goal from 55metres and the tiger army roar ... he loves it.

There's no chance at all of Delidio leaving for GWS. He will be close to $600,000 here and I don't think GWS will be able to field an offer a deal tempting enough if they are paying massive amounts to Scully, Ward and Palmer ( I would say at least $1 million for it to look reasonably tempting).

As far as Nahas goes I would say if GWS is interested in him then the maximum amount we should go to keep him is $450,000. GWS would have to offer at least $750,000 to get him. Seeing that people are expecting the Ward compensation to be Band 2 we could get that compensation because the situation is similar ( The difference of Wards and Nahas age is 1 and a half years and Ward is on a $800,000 contract). While I would very much prefer to keep him, I could live with that compensation.

There is no way Nahas is worth 450K a year at RFC, good grief, in GWS want to grab Nahas with the big money, best wishes to him and GWS can knock themselves out, provided RFC is compensated adequately same with Nahas. Nahas is very much valuable but unless you were GWS, you couldn't give him 450k a year unless he stepped up very substantially again.

Lids situation is interesting. I think he could go, he might not. With the tigers he would be waiting 5 years for a premiership anyway as RFC team needs a lot more quality and development still and he would wait even longer for many other clubs if he were traded to others. Fact is only a few clubs would in a window over a few years realistically. RFC could be compensated with Omeara plus very high draft pick. The thing is patience is a virtue and Lids wouldn't be a fool to consider the move. If he went to GWS he could get a premiership with them at the backend after 5 years or with us traded back or GC if traded to them and his trade value will be lower but all the clubs will have the necessary younger players to trade for him to suit him. In effect it options up more premiership options for Lids.

This might sound crazy but if Lids went to GWS for omeara etc.. it could give Lids a better chance for a premiership with the Tigers than if he didn't.

It is not like Lids owes us anything as he has provided hope in dark times IMO and excitement and we could be adequately compensated with Omeara and other pick etc.. so any separation if even temporary would be viewed as mutually beneficial for many I believe.

Anyway its up to GWS and the players really, ball is in their court.

One thing to be clear, before Lids hangs his boots up for the last time I would love for him to win a premiership at Tigerland so I just wish him well whatever happens!!

Deledio is very passionate about Richmond I can't see him going. Plus by the time GWS are any good he might be too old.

Nahas is a more realistic chance.

this is why , if he did go , there would be a good chance he comes back to us for a final premiership assault, us or GC anyway!

Come on guys, their decent players but Houli, Nahas, Foley and Post arn't exactly at the top of GWS's list.

They dont need to be on the top of the list, but GWS would want AFL experienced players.

Chad Cornes and Dean Brogan wouldnt have been on the top of their list but theyve got them.

They cant recruit a team of 22 Ablett, Judds and Franklins

They could try with a Vlad blank cheque :D

True. But the players on top of GWS list has knocked them back so they may start to look at the other players. They tried to get the best, but now they are trying to get the rest.

Just heard on SEN that Morton could be off to GWS:thumbsd:

Would hate to see him go. Has unlimited potential

I would rather keep Morton, but if it meant sleeping better at night knowing they can't touch Delidio or Nahas because they already took a Richmond player I almost hope he goes there.

Since the last one. We hear that every year.

Oh my God, I agree with Magic.

Normal transmission resumed.

Never!

These 'trade a bloke and get him back in a few years' dreams you have are seriously deluded.

Cuckoo.

He's already gone I reckon. Destination unknown (by me).

Hope Morton stays. He played pretty much the last 8 or so games, mostly coming off the pine. Maybe Hardwick was just seeing what he had to give before he made a call, but you would have to think that the ones who weren't getting played when we had no players, ala Nason, are the first in the gun.

Are some of you people mad? $450 for nahas? dusty is on 350 and Nahas is worth $450...........the delusion is strong on this board.

Cotch is on $400 to put it in perspective, If Nahas is worth $450 then we are well and truly Fukced.

when we treat players like we have Tuck would you blamer players trying to "cash" in while they can

What's the average AFL players wage? 260k?? When you take out 1st and 2nd year players who can't earn more than like 75k if they play every game in their 1st season it probably goes up to 280-300k. I don't think it's out of the realms to believe a player in our top 6 players this year could ask for 400k.

Out top-6 were on well and truly more than that 10yrs ago CM.

Gaspar was offered $800K a season or something completely outrageous by West Coast, we got somewhere near matching that and I don't think he was ever in our top-3 highest paid players - that would have caused an internal riot.

A well documented example to compare with is that Troy Simmonds signed on for $350K a year in 2005 and accepted considerably less than his market worth (so we could afford him at all) for the security of a 5-year contract. He wasn't getting anywhere near the kind of coin Richo, Campbell, Johnson, Coughlan, Bowden, Stafford, Gaspar, Brown etc. were and it was obviously less than what Freo were prepared to offer him, but with Sandilands and Pavlich there, he was always one good kid away from being not best-22 anymore.

We should be able to afford any player we want (or three) if we've front loaded our contracts half as well as it *seems* we have in the last couple of years.

Has nothing to do with it!!!

It depends on how good your top 6 is relative to the rest of your list and the comp.

If you have a shit list and a shit top 6 compared to the opposition they are not worth much at all!!
