pfft whats hawthorns weakness right now.
Defense.
There forward line is great.
Midfield pretty good
Defense crap.

Fix defense an they are back up the top again, they will be desperate to grab a guy like taz, we need to push for best deal possible.

Correct and you can add Carlton to the list of shit defenses.

With Tarrant Hawthorn/Carlton become a 6th/7th ladder position side to a top 4... well maybe not Carlton but it will certainly help them.

Those suggesting he is too old are idiots. Easily have 2-3 maybe even 4 years left if he wanted.

But as has been stated he will retire if a suitable trade isn't done.

I have no idea what Freo are hoping for out of this. Barry Hall might be comparable - in terms of age and position, and ability, and that he won't play for the current club again regardless of the outcome. Although Hall is a better player than Tarrant.

Considered like that - don't expect much. I can tell you this - no one at Hawthorn is really going to care much if we don't get him. Some will even say that we shouldn't be looking at him at all, at any price. If another club are willing to really make a play for him, I doubt we'll be able to compete.

I agree with you that he doesn't have a high trade value, but I'm not sure how many of Tarrant's games you've seen over the last 18 months based on parts of your post. His form has been outstanding and on par with Lake, Fletcher, Scarlett, etc and unlike those guys he gets the oppositions best player each week. He's gone from Brown one week, to LeCras the next, to Fevola then to Brad Johnson and done really well against all sizes.

Tarrant makes Hawthorn/Carlton/St Kilda a better team by a considerable margin, infact some people here have suggested we're better off letting him retire than accept a pick outside the top 30 because it makes the opposition stronger without giving us much.

In order of importance at Fremantle I'd rank them Sandilands, Pavlich, Barlow, Tarrant, Mundy, Ballantyne and it's no coincidence that our form dropped off after Tarrant and Barlow went down. Obviously Burgoyne had a greater trade value due to his age, but if I could have Burgoyne OR Tarrant at Fremantle for just one season in 2011 I'd take Taz hands down.

Better than Twigs.

Definately. Twiggers was actually the person I thought of when it was mentioned that Mrs Tarrant wants to go back to Victoria for modelling opportunities but how many days a year would Twigley do modelling work (and she has a much higher profile). A couple of fashion shows, a bit of spring carnival work, I'd be surprised if she did 50 days a year.

I'd prefer her over some generic good DNA face like Pia Miller.

I had to google Pia Miller but she looks like a Latin hottie. Mrs Taz has craaazy eyes !!

That's all guess work though SS. The end comes quick, Taz was being patted on the back for beating Brad Johnson, one of the competitions best forwards, not that long ago while Johnson has been copping it for half the season because he looked finished.

Four years would make him 34, how many 34 year olds are in the competition? I'd guess four. I reckon if Carlton/St Kilda/Hawthorn get 40 games out of Tarrant for pick 30 they've traded really well.

On the D&T board there were opposition supporters hesitant to chase Mundy because he's 25.

I've no doubt that some people on all sides have suggested insane trades. For instance there is no way Hawthorn would trade Lewis for Tarrant. I'd personally be very surprised if you got pick 18/19. The thing is, Hawthorn and Carlton and others, no one is going to be that bothered if the deal doesn't get done. It's more a situation where we'd list him if we could without losing anything, but if we can't, then oh well.

If you asked for Dowler, you get it done for sure. Morton - probably, we haven't been able to find much use for him this year. He might well benefit from a change of clubs. Bateman is hard to say. He is definitely on the decline, but I suspect he's worth more to us than you, making that trade unlikely. Hawthorn have an excess of one-paced inside mids. We traded off Kennedy for not very much last year, and he has flourished at the Swans. A Lewis or even a Sewell might possibly be on the table, but Tarrant would just not offer us enough value for either of them.

I have no idea what Freo are hoping for out of this. Barry Hall might be comparable - in terms of age and position, and ability, and that he won't play for the current club again regardless of the outcome. Although Hall is a better player than Tarrant.

Whilst you like to present yourself as knowledgeable and 'not fussed' either way, what a crock. You have under achieved in the last 2 years (Hawks set a high bench mark) running and the premiership window is open. Taz settles your 2nd biggest weakness (speed in the mid-field being your 1st).

You recently traded your first 2 picks for an aging mid with speed and a medium defender who tries hard on the tall's in the last draft. You think they would not consider a second rd pick in a compromised draft?? Probably throw in a Dowler as he is to be de-listed anyway.

It will come down to teams in the top 8, Norths and Taz. If he wants to screw over Freo then so be it we will get bent. Initial impressions is this is not the case so a fair deal will need to be reached.

Back on topic, what about Taz and Palmer for Roughead and Bateman?

That actually sounds reasonable to me.

Sounds reasonable because its weighted in our favour! I don't think they would give up Roughy for Taz and Palmer alone. Palmer's trade value is a lot lower than it was a year ago before he got injured.

People keep forgetting about Gold Coast. They will be big players in the trade period. Whilst Taz won't go there, there is every likelihood that Gold Coast can help facilitate trades (e.g. three-way) so everyone gets what they want. Gold Coast have a raft of youngsters, draft picks and rights to the 10 best mature aged players who have been overlooked in previous drafts that can also be traded.

There was talk in the paper that St Kilda are unlikely because of salary cap constraints - i.e. they would have to offload a player. We could try to include Gold Coast in a deal and send Taz to Gold Coast for pick 30 plus a mature aged mid that we want (GC have dibs on 10 mature aged picks and can trade them), GC then send Taz plus Dixon (one of the best young ruckman in the country - fortunately GC have 3 of the best young ruckman), to St Kilda for Gilbert (QLD boy). Thus freeing up cap space, covering Gilbert with Taz and gaining a gun young ruckman that they need.

Tarrant will be interviewed on The Footy Show for anyone who can bothered staying up.

Not sure if it has been shown already over there or not but don't bother staying up just to watch the interview. It's short and doesn't say anything you won't already know

Wanted to return to Melbourne; his partner and he have some business ventures that they want to work on and be closer to; would like to play for ~3years and wants to play in a team who might win the premiership.

Worth watching the show for the interview with Jimmy.S and Crawf as they both relate to cancer - pretty inspirational stuff on the show tonight.

~Roughy talk - the club signed him for 4 years early on in the season when he was hardly performing which is a pretty good indication he's part of the teams plans for the next tilt at a flag (Buddy only got a 3 year extension, perhaps chase him? :D)

Watched the interview and was a little disappointed to hear him say that he was looking at a team who had a chance for a Premiership and yet did not remain at Freo. Would have been nice to hear him acknowledge harvet et al and how they resurrected his career. The Weazel Hutchy mentioned that it was more likely that Mundy would head east than stay at Freo. If that is true then we really need to get good picks or trades for the two of them

Saw the interview and was actually a little shocked at myself to how quickly I got over him.

I really wanted him to come over back in 2006 and was over the moon when it happened. However, seeing him on TFS and him not being a FFC player anymore I just had no feeling at all anymore for him, none whatsoever.
