The niggling at Sheedy by Horsburgh in today's article by Caroline Wilson is, well, just strange. Referring to him as 'bitter' and releasing the results of an internal communication survey to the media are cheap and reactionary stunts, and suggest that he's a little thin-skinned.

If this club is meant to be uniting in the aftermath of Sheedy's sacking, Horsburgh doesn't seem to be doing much to lead the way. He seems more fascinated by his media profile than club unity. Potential future coaches of Essendon would have to be regarding him warily.

Unrelatedly, is the statement that "When Jackson came to the club it was broke" a revelation to anyone, or just me?

Here we go, all the dirty washing is now going to be aired, everyone at the club will start to have there two bobs worth. What a bunch of girls. The papers are going to have a field day in the coming weeks.

Sound's like Sheedy is the only one carrying on like a girl, the club is trying to put it's best foot forward but he's moping around causing trouble with his old and tired jabs at everyone.

They have said and done enough in the media.

The more that is said about sheeds leaving the bigger mess we look to the outside. If we want to attract the "best coach" we need the best practices and management. The way we are carrying on in the media we will end up with someone like tim watson (or as good as his coaching) with us for the next generation.

I wish the board and the EFC would grow up and move on

Why would you come out and state publicly the exact 2 coaches we are after?

If we dont land one of these 2 how is our next coach whether it be Daniher, Bond, Hardwick etc going to feel answering questions about knowing he wasnt the clubs 1st or 2nd preference?

Maybe Im reading too much into it and whoever gets picked should be grateful for landing the head job at the greatest club in Australia.

i was upset when we were informed sheedy was to go. now that decision has been made the club needs to move on and find another, its too late to bring him back. also they should get rid of big ray, he is not what this club needs right now. jackson is a professional and should stay, as for the rest of the board - the members will decide. does anyone know if dodoro will stay or is that up to the new coach?

I found that whole article disappointing and disturbing. Aside from the way Sheeds and EFC are behaving I'm really sick and tired of the media further undermining clubs during tough times.

This is why journalists aren't considered very highly.

Dont worry Sheeds will be one of those girls in the enxt few weeks too... As soon as his contract ends he is going to be liek a tiger let out of a cage...

Mate, you're drawing a long bow trying to blame the media!! When a successful club like Essendon, with an enviable record of keeping issues in-house (apart from the late nineties, I guess), starts to fray like this, of course it's a story!

you and me both.

But I have great confidence in our club. Richmond and Hawks supporters can pull their willies as much as they like - but we don't do mediocrity.

We'll be back. Soon.

You did in the 70s.

Thank god Sheedy pulled you out of it cause who knows what might have happened to Essendon.

Yeah I don't like it either. I would love to get Williams, and Thompson would be good too, but keep it quiet if we're going after them. Less chance of getting them if we declare it publicly IMO and it seems too much like a PR exercise.

As for the other stuff, I'm sympathetic to Ray and the board because they are in a tricky spot. I support his sentiment but hopefully this doesn't get drawn out in the media and Sheedy can go out without taking any cheap shots.

It is a current coach of a opposition club aswell ant, just not the 2 publicly mentioned. ;)

No one is prepared to give a name but i heard we had appointed someone already from a couple of different sources.....

I too have heard a rumour which is apparelty signed, sealed and delivered, but as far as Im concerned, it's just that at this stage.

Can we mention names?

Cant say Im all that wrapped, albeit not really shocked with who I have heard it is.
