They could go back through my posts from 08/09 and do what I recommend. On and off field.

Also, they could clone Jack Viney 23 times.

Now we have seen how they play as a team we can go even further.

1. Reward those playing well at Casey with senior selection and drop anyone not putting in the effort at senior level (hello Sylvia..yeah you).
Casey look like they're going to struggle big time this year, so players are going to have to work even harder.

2. Have a simple game plan. If Clark and Dawes are playing...keep it down the middle with long kicks. None of this panicked short passing/2 metre handball type rubbish.
Absolutely agree. Play to our strengths and develop the game plan from there.

3. Start with Viney, Trengove and Toumpas in the middle.
Replace Toumpas with Jones, the man gives his all and has genuine claim to being A grade.

There was a caller to Finey's Final Siren Sunday night which provoked my interest about bringing in the likes of Fitzpatrick and Davey. Surely either or both could be better options than some of those put out there by Neeld and co last Sunday!

It's gonna take a decade to change the culture. Having blokes like Viney in the leadership group will help long term. He should be made captain when he is ready.

Next year they could do what they should have done five years ago - hire Sheedy as "senior coach", and the most highly qualified assistant around to actually coach the team, then take the title off Sheedy in a couple of years.

They won't have much success (not that they will otherwise anyway), but they'll be a hell of a lot tougher and better promoted than they are now.

I'm a long time Fitzpatrick fan. Kicked 2 at Subi Rd 23 last year, should get a crack.

Bulldoze and start again. Starting with the CEO.
You could drop a nuclear bomb on Melbourne FC and Schwab would survive unscathed, the guy is like a cockroach.

The players may not be great and mostly young but thats no excuse for not trying. Take a look at gws you cant say they dont have a crack. That performance reminded me of when we lost to west coast who were last and le cras kicked 12. We just didnt try that night and melbourne was the same, you really have to wonder why that is.

186 was a nuclear bomb! Really not sure how Schwab survived!

It's a head scratcher, because the CEO in theory has nothing to do with the teams poor performance, yet he's never been at a succesful club in more than 25 years!?!

Yeah but he's doing a great job and has no influence on the footy dept... :)

What I'd like to know is who made the call to hire Bailey, who made the call to fire Bailey and who made the call to hire Neeld?

Also, are any of the people reponsible for drafting Morton, Watts, Scully etc. still involved in the recruitment of Dawes, Gillies, Byrnes etc.?

The board, with Stynes present at the minute as President too.

Is there any reason Jones was overlooked for the captaincy?

From the outside he seems to be one who consistently sets a good example of effort out on the field. Seems like he would have been a good Richie Vandenberg type interim captain while you waited for Trengove and Grimes to mature.

The players voted for their captain(s). It turns out Trengove wasn't ready for such responsibility, Grimes was, but that doesn't change the fact that you can't blame Neeld for the choice itself.

Maybe you think Neeld should have just appointed somebody as captain, but the fact is they decided to have a player vote. Nobody was overlooked for the captaincy. In fact with a vote, by definition everybody was in the running.

If it's success you're after, the best way to fix Melbourne would be to relocate them to Sydney. (A possible merger with GWS?)

Suddenly you'd find the AFL throwing millions of dollars at you, bending the rules in your favour and working hard to ensure your club's success at the expense of the foundation clubs in Melbourne who they don't really give a shit about.

The words of a man who is severely out of his depth.
They need to get rid of Neeld. And get rid of the people who were in charge and so incompetent that they hired him in the first place.
Jesus. Reactionary much? And I don't just mean you, I mean all the flogs with same view.

Yes, Melbourne were horrible. But if you thinking sacking the coach after one shocking performance - in Round 1 - is the way to go, then by god I'm glad BF isn't in charge of the footy club.

I'll leave these here. Means nothing until the players actually show endeavour, but it should be an interesting read for those that just bleat "sack the coach derp"

Neeld seems to be a lot of rhetoric, minimal results.
