I don't know. What I've read about Delta in other countries, it doesn't leave children unscathed, and over a quarter of our current cases are kids under 10, none of whom have had a chance to get a vaccine yet. I'm happy to wait until they have.

i thought the case numbers during the others were lower (and mostly kappa variant? let me recall
- kappa was the SA HQ breach - mid May
- there was a Melbourne HQ breach which was squashed due to the kappa being squashed

- there may have been a lockdown protest - was it the one with the really low turnout?

- then in June there were some dumbfu** removalists who came in as well as separate dumbfu** people in Craigieburn deciding "oh we have symptoms lets get tested and then go forking shopping"
- that's when the delta outbreak started, so not a HQ issue

I'm pretty sure there has been an anti lockdown protest every time Dan announces one or extends his snap lockdown or announces new restrictions.

Then this one they don't know where it's from, much like that first delta outbreak which they tried to blame on NSW which was Covid free or the black rock, this and black rock the person they wanted to blame didn't have the virus. It could be yet another hq breach, we may never know, or like that last hq breach they'll announce it when lockdown is lifted so no one is listening anymore.

It’s more about these children than going on to spread it to other children in school and childcare settings witch will than infect more family’s when they go home giving to virus to family members who will spread it around workplaces and more families with that exponential growth of cases

It's probable given the traffic controllers partner lived in the same area as the first case, but they aren't saying at this stage. Maybe they feel admitting that would say that LD5 was ended prematurely.

As far as I know the first case here is still one of dozens of mystery cases in this outbreak, they've got no idea where the infections are coming from.

He was detected on the day when Dan unwisely went the early crow because we had donuts (I think for a couple of days all new cases were in iso) but I think the restrictions had eased a little then we found out about him.
And yes he was mystery until last week.

Another update from Nextstrain and Victoria are still not uploading data. I'm now getting suspicious, every other nearby jurisdiction is submitting data and Victoria has now stopped for a month. Victoria were submitting weekly until mid-late July.

Highlighted in red are the last Victorian samples, the latest from July 21st.




They have also begun to split the delta cases into sub-lineages. AY.4 is a sub-lineage of the Delta variant which is making up the majority of cases in NSW and therefore Australia. I'd expect it is the same sub-lineage that we currently have in Victoria (it was for both the Removalists and Coles family outbreaks), but we have no publicly available data to confirm what the cases in the current Victorian outbreak are from. This doesn't mean its more virulent (although there are some investigating if it could be with regards to a specific genome change) or deadly.

AY.4 is the lineage that according to outbreak.org, is estimated to have made up ~24% of cases in the UK and is making up 27% of current sequenced cases globally. This is probably distorted as there are limited test results in some countries, while the UK, Europe, US and Australia have much larger testing numbers and sequences. Below is the growth chart from August 8th on a global basis. AY.4 Making up approximately 27% of sampled cases.

Note, I'm no expert and this is just my analysis of it.
