The State was virtually broke. Key industry sectors marred in red tape and resulting time and cost inefficiencies.
But what did he actually save the state from

I just told you. The inefficiencies and red tape were such that ongoing investment was put at risk. Take the building industry for instance: future developments were put on the back burner. The time it used to take to obtain building permit was atrocious. He revamped that industry, introduced the Building Act, privatised building surveyors and removed a range of other obstacles. That’s just one area.

And Boxing Day as a day to sit on the couch to watch cricket
Nothing speaks of Melbourne like a public holiday for sporting events. What we really need are new holidays for the F1 and AO. It's a travesty that any Melbournian should stay up late on a Sunday evening to watch the mens tennis final and be required to go to work on Monday.

It's unAustralian!

64% of Victorians are morons.

Who are the 16% that think Victoria handled covid very well? JFC.

Name and shame them.

FWIW a couple of points regarding the person I posted about recently who ended up on a ventilator:

  • They are apparently through the worst of it and have turned the corner, my colleague is thrilled
  • They were originally admitted for something different and were later found to be Covid positive

Unfortunately he took a turn for the worse and ended up passing a week ago.

Oh man all the Kennet stans are great for a laugh, keep justifying why you think that s**t stain was good lol

Gralin, do you acknowledge Victoria was an absolute rust bucket by 1992? Record unemployment. Investment at an all time low. We lost our bank, the State Bank. Then there was Pyramid, Tricontinental, and Victorian Economic Development Corporation financial disasters. State debt was unparalleled. We were the laughing stock.

Yet you choose to forget all that and call Kennett a s**t stain. He did what he did to repair the damage. He put Melbourne and Victoria back on the map for all the right reasons.again if you can’t recognise that you are deluded

I'd suggest your ideology is glossing over the damage he did

I see King Jeff is making an appearance on here.

Let's talk about the horrific legacy Jeff had on Victoria.

People talk about how he ended the Cain/Kirner financial stuff. Wow big deal. There is more to the state than just the books of the Government of the day. Kennett was not a visionary. His idea was to sell everything off. Hardly a visionary man.

Has our power supply, maintenance and bills been better under privatisation? Clearly no.
Same with our gas and water.

Has our public transport improved? Not really. The only improvements in that sector have come under Labor Governments (example - Regional Rail Link)

Has the selling off and closing of schools been of any great benefit? Only to property developers, certainly not educational outcomes.

How about the dividing up of our hospital sector into "networks". Has that been any good? No. Some of the hospitals you wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole.

Ask the people of Werribee, Niddrie and Tullamarine what they think of him after he tried, 3 times, to build a toxic waste dump in these areas.

All in all Jeff failed. That's the reality.
