Vic How would you rate Daniel Andrews' performance as Victorian Premier? - Part 7

I don’t know how I can keep saying this, but WA is different from the east coast and it is like comparing to a different country. Their policies are unique to them. They have different gas repositories from the east coast and also a much higher industrial use.

If you had read the AEMO report you would see that the majority of gas is exported. If the one in 20 happened there would almost certainly be an intervention to allow for gas for domestic use.

You used national to describe the east coast fiasco.
The only relevant issue here is WA acted.

Time to legalise weed and get some tax revenue :moustache:
Fix the rules around driving, which I believe is already in the works.
Licence to grow over a certain amount, licence to sell as a retailer, licence to sell as an empolyee.
Creation of jobs as well.
Allow people to grow a certain amount at home for recreational use.

Or we seize assets of multinational companies and tell them to go * themselves. Can only be done once.
We'd suddenly have a "Australians yearn for democracy" moment, as the CIA overthrows our government.

That's just the reality.

No leader is renationalising already exploited minerals and fosdil fuels deposits because you'd have the intel agencies of every ally lining up to bump them off.

Are you trying to compare Bass Strait with the North West Shelf ?
Bass Strait gas extraction is under federal remit, and falls under the PRRT. So the benefits and legislative governance are a federal matter.

The federal government can't retroactively apply a clause in existing contracts for a reserve.

It's something which would have to be negotiated.

This has almost zero to do with Andrews outside of him trying to apply pressure to the Feds to relegislate requirements for a domestic needs/interest test on exports, for any expansion of future offshore extraction.

The only thing the State Government has direct authority over is onshore gas extraction which is a non-starter for Victoria as there are no conventional reserves and fracking is simply not possible, given the shortage of either arable land or exurban expansion.

You want the Feds to intervene to deny the failure of the State Governments.
Its not up to the Feds, WA acted without the support of the Feds ( Howard opposed it).
Again, the state government doesn't control offshore gas extraction.

It 100% is up to the Federal government when it comes to existant operations in Bass Strait.

Given the North West Shelf is offshore ?
WA can push though (2006) a gas reserve but the east coast State Governments can not ?

Reality is some State Governments have let their people down & we are picking up the cost of their inaction.

So the WA Labor Government that put in the reservation in 2006 ? The other States havent?

The rules around NW Shelf are somehow different to Bass Strait.
Off topic and insulting people that make the mistake of trying to engage with you.

You do have very strong opinion on this.

What should Dan Andrews and the other states do, to get the outcomes you so desperately need.

On this issue, its simply an honest discussion, e.g, as posted above:

The outcome for solving the east coast power **** up is a tad more difficult, we need to be honest about where we are & how we get to 24/7 reliable power.

Hopefully, there is more to Kwality passion than that, however you are probably right.

But I am expecting a link from an opinion piece or media release as his justification.

IF politics is your go, dont read it, if a solution to the east coast **** up is your interest, come on down .... :)

So he is off to China in order to get "cheap loans" because he overspent on everything and now with rising interest rates he knows there is a huge blackhole in the state budget.
Slight addition, many of the overspends are on projects he gave to Chinese government owned companies after being warned by public servants he was favouring them improperly. What deal is coming up soon he can make sure they win in exchange for social media support in key electorates and a comfy post political career job as a lobbyist (as pollies on both sides prioritise).

However I don't think he can get loans from a foreign government especially one who doesn't provide cheap loans and prefers high interest rate deals linked to control of key infrastructure (Sri Lankia, South Africa etc say hi) that only very corrupt and stupid pollies would sign (Dan is corrupt but he is far from stupid).

Most likely it is just a CCP funded junket that suits their propaganda purposes and his ego.

Hopefully one day, the Greens will have enough power to get a properly funded IBAC in Vic that Dan can't just ignore and obstruct.

The outcome for solving the east coast power utensil up is a tad more difficult, we need to be honest about where we are & how we get to 24/7 reliable power.
You want Dan Andrews to have a discussion about a decision made in 2006 and discuss the differences between the NW Shelf and Bass Strait?

I think they have been honest and discussed how 24/7 reliable power will be achieved. Just that a certain section of the population didn't like the answer and need assurances that it has been deployed and successful in a similar environment.

Dan is off to pander to his Chinese overlords, but we will never know exactly what he is pandering for...why isn't he taking the Education or Trade minister? Why no media? The arrogance of this bloke and his complete brainwashing of my fellow Victorians are astounding. Chris Minns appears to be a good bloke, let's hope so for the people of NSW... It might be too late for Victorians.

I'm not holding my breath on that one, considering the Greens keep compromising with Andrews to avoid giving him political losses. An enquiry into the Redlich letter would have been bad for Andrews, so the Greens rolled on that one to get one of their own as Chair of the Integrity Oversight Committee, a better outcome than previously to be sure, but not the best outcome possible.

Greens on climate = let the perfect be the enemy of the good
Greens on integrity = small, incremental change is fine
