You want Dan Andrews to have a discussion about a decision made in 2006 and discuss the differences between the NW Shelf and Bass Strait?
I think they have been honest and discussed how 24/7 reliable power will be achieved. Just that a certain section of the population didn't like the answer and need assurances that it has been deployed and successful in a similar environment.

So a first for you, thenI want this thread to have an honest discussion here.
I dont expect any more of Dan than we already get. You know very well the rules around offshore oil & gas apply equally to Bass Strait & the North West Shelf.
24/7 reliable power has been with us for decades as well you know.
East Coast Governments have chosen to go down the route that they are now travelling & turned its back on retaining the certainty of supply in favour of climate virtue signalling.
Reliable power drives investment/jobs.
Note: WA is not without its problems in the power generation, needing to import coal to keep the electricity pumping. The bright light there is gas from the Perth Basin & the additional supply should in the pipelines in the next few weeks.
So a first for you, then
Sorry what has this got to do with east coast reserves for gas?
Kean was a great energy minister for a liberal. In a perfect world he would stay on, but he decided to join a party of climate deniers
Do you think you are Scott Morrison answering question from moron reporters with a hard hat on?
What a nonsensical response and a poor characterisation of an article about the challenges facing the next energy minister.
It was only 10 years ago that the LNP established the Victorian IBAC, then they wanted the rules changed so they could be the Chair of it from opposition?!?!I'm not holding my breath on that one, considering the Greens keep compromising with Andrews to avoid giving him political losses. An enquiry into the Redlich letter would have been bad for Andrews, so the Greens rolled on that one to get one of their own as Chair of the Integrity Oversight Committee, a better outcome than previously to be sure, but not the best outcome possible.
Greens on climate = let the perfect be the enemy of the good
Greens on integrity = small, incremental change is fine

Liberal Party on climate = The ALP is wrong
Liberal Party on integrity = The LNP were wrong
utensil? am curious what the original word is (never had utensil appear via the filter before)The article is looking forward not backwards.
How the east coast power 'utensil-up'* can be resolved without blackouts & the job losses that will result.
* utensil is an edit by Big Brother that unashamedly modifies threads for their own purpose. SNAFU, they remain in the shadows.
So a political enquiry into allegations about a process becoming political?I think the Baillieu Government erred in 2011 when they created the IBAC and then did not create the parliamentary committee with oversight over IBAC with a non-government Chair.
I also think a separate parliamentary enquiry into the allegations contain in Robert Redlich's letter to parliament would be entirely appropriate.
No, the current arrangement doesn't allow for the state to overrule federal laws which were updated in 2011 I believe.Given the North West Shelf is offshore ?
WA can push though (2006) a gas reserve but the east coast State Governments can not ?
Reality is some State Governments have let their people down & we are picking up the cost of their inaction.
So a political enquiry into allegations about a process becoming political?
Perhaps and independent enquiry would be more appropriate. Oh, no, that's what Redlich's concerned about?
How many times does this need to be explained. So he is off to China in order to get "cheap loans" because he overspent on everything and now with rising interest rates he knows there is a huge blackhole in the state budget.
You are tying yourself in knots here. The Parliament has responsibility for oversight on IBAC, and for any institution to be responsible and accountable to the people, somewhere it has to be responsible to the parliament. If not, then that institution is in charge and beyond accountability. Parliament is full of politicians - IMO the alternative is clearly worse.
You are tying yourself in knots here.
Didn't you want Andrews to implement Redlich's recommendations.
By all reports that is happening. So we move on. Looks Deeming is remaining though, after a vacation.
But the latter won't happen. So there's no juice to be gained.I've pretty clearly stated what I wanted, but I am not responsible for the comprehension skills of others. I wanted a non-government Chair of the Integrity Oversight Committee AND a separate parliamentary enquiry into the allegations contained in Redlich's letter (namely the "find dirt" allegation on unnamed Government MPs).
But the latter won't happen. So there's no juice to be gained.
I'd be a little more concerned with internal Liberal party room dysfunction.
Victoria isn't the US. The Y'all Qaeda transphobe/anti-LGBTQ schtick isn't popular with the public. Pessuto had the chance to boot a milstone around the party's neck and cement a "new" centrist Liberal party's credentials with the public and bottled it.
Clearly, he either lacks the power, or didn't want it enough.
I'm not sure continuing the farce of treating Sky News as your constituents is going to lead to electoral success.
Nothing in this post relates to the OP or the overall topic of the thread.
It's clear Pesutto didn't have that chance, because if he had actually had that chance, it would have happened. The party room "bottled it". The repercussions will be felt by the wrong people.

But Deeming triggered teh left, that's obviously considered a win for the Vic Libs these days.View attachment 1641358
Sure seems like a party primed to win hearts and minds in this state.
