Opened as in operational ?

'Metro Tunnel

Train travel will be easier with more trains able to carry more people on the Sunbury, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines. A dedicated tunnel from Kensington to South Yarra will create a direct connection between the west and the south east.'

The Metro Tunnel is on track to be completed by 2025.'

Will it be completed on time ?

They're currently testing the tunnels with a lighter weight train and if it is the 'priority' project, it may be completed on time (the the detriment of every other major project)

The 'quarntine' leak.
But then again .. life is a risk, hey ... governments should take risks, like some sort of poker game.

You know you keep spelling quarantine wrong, but do you know why it's spelled quarantine?

As far as your epedmiological assessment, tell me you're a dumb ass right winger without telling me you're a dumb ass right winger.

C'mon mate .. it's 'quarntine'.
Your first 300 posts convinced me.
Quite happy in the centre of politics, but I know a charlatan of a 'communist' leader when I see one and I can detect someone claiming to be someone they are not a mile away.
You maybe should have stayed in 'quarntine'.
Weren't you the goose preaching that posters should have respect for each other? But here you are, same Groundhog day after Groundhog day, abusing and name calling.
Your holier than though attitude might fool some, but not me.

I literally told someone today I do not respect their decision to vote No in the referendum, so I'm not sure how I'm a preacher of respect.

I don't think you know what communism is. I've been to a communist country, I've even lived in a facist one, were not in a communist state nimnod. People ACTUALLY want to come to Melbourne. Those countries people want to leave, but that would require the ability to regularly travel or speak different languages which I don't think you can, as evidence of me asking you what does quarantine mean but failed to answer

lmao .... pesutto fielded awkward questions this afternoon about the IBAC report .... this from 'the costello':

While fronting the media, John Pesutto was also asked whether the state opposition owed Victorians an apology given the Liberals did not come out of Operation Sandon unscathed.

Here was the opposition leader’s reply:

I want to make it clear that we condemn wrongful behaviour no matter who undertakes the wrongful behaviour.

Was there mention in the Operation Sandon report of any behaviour by Liberal MPs? Just thought I would ask because the Liberal Party does not endorse or support in any official sense candidates for local government.

They're currently testing the tunnels with a lighter weight train and if it is the 'priority' project, it may be completed on time (the the detriment of every other major project)
Serious question as I try to understand what operational really means, a train from where to where through the tunnel ... as in THE TUNNEL ? Can you direct me to a relevant map with or without a timeframe ?

What did Operation Sandon say about the Liberals?

By Rachel Eddie

While we wait for the opposition leader’s press conference, it’s worth considering what the IBAC report had to say about the Liberal Party. Property developer John Woodman and his entities made a total $530,700 worth of donations to the Liberals between 2010 and 2019 over 97 transactions, according to Operation Sandon. That was more than what was donated to Labor, which received $439,268.
Woodman paid $70,000 for membership of Enterprise Victoria, a Liberal fundraising arm, splitting payments into $10,000 lots paid by separate entities. “The link between the level of financial contribution and the influence expected in return is evident in a lawfully intercepted telephone conversation between Enterprise Victoria’s executive director and Mr Woodman in February 2019,” the IBAC report states. “In the conversation, the executive director was seeking to finalise a large financial commitment from Mr Woodman. They offered him personal meetings with the [then] Liberal Party leader [Michael O’Brien] and state president as an incentive. In response, Mr Woodman noted his interest.” The meetings did not take place, IBAC heard. The Enterprise Victoria executive director also assured Woodman that they could get around new donation laws, by making payments to the federal account which allowed larger donations than Victoria, before diverting the money to Enterprise Victoria.

I would assume 'operational' means metro trains actually running through the tunnel, and those trains being part of the timetable.

I'm not sure I'd agree with any definition that calls the tunnel 'operational' without regular services running through it

Thank you.

That's very poor from whomever that Executive Director was at the time (I am sure I would know the name but I can't remember right now), whomever they are, they're not there any more. The donation laws make fundraising in large amounts almost impossible, but that is no reason to try and circumvent the law.

Woodman's intent to donate to political parties to exert influence is clear. I'm not sure what effect on decisions he would have had through the donations listed above because the Liberal Party don't get to make decisions any more.

I'm paraphrasing for obvious reasons, but there is an old political maxim that in order to succeed in politics, you need to be able to take donations from someone and then a second later tell them to get nicked. The political class have forgotten the second part.

The trains testing the tunnel at the moment are the ones that will use it.

People have left Melbourne in droves - interstate and into the countryside. You can't find a house or a rental in most towns - we're full.
They didn't like QUARNTINE you goose.
PS Disrespect me .. I'm voting No. Could never vote for anything the guy trying to sell us something can't explain.
Albo: "What the Voice is ,,, well what it is, s ... it gives a Voice to to people who need a Voice."
Sound logic.

my memory may be playing tricks here, but IBACs account of how enterprise victoria sought to circumvent donation laws sounds eerily similar to an issue that plagued nsw conservative politics mid 2010's (ie using federal party to channel developer donations through to state party)

Melbourne population has grown though. Why you making stuff up?

Changing the topic of discussion, the latest PropTrack Rental Report says Melbourne’s tenants have 22.7 per cent fewer homes to choose from this winter than they did a year ago. If that statistic doesn't send a message to Dan "I've never had a job outside the ALP" Andrews, that only allowing rent to be reviewed every 2 years and capping rent rises is doomed to fail spectacularly, then we are ****ed!

The drop in the number of available rentals in Melbourne is the biggest drop in any Australian capital.

Go get a rental or buy a home in parts of northern and western Victoria.
Good luck.
Where did these people come from? The Moon?

Why are there less rentals in Melbourne now, if people left in droves?

Did different people arrive in larger droves?

Yeah, it seems Sydney population growth is slower than Melbourne.

I wonder how many droves left Sydney for Melbourne!

Looks like Wooden Robot needs some fact checking attention going forward.

It's amazing how your continually fall into the obvious traps laid before you. If only you did a tiny bit research you might have better world view, more understanding of science and the like.

Since your failed to answer what quarantine means, it's actually originates from the Italian word "Quarantina" which means 40. The first quarantine happened during the Black Death in Venice, they would stop ships for 40 days on the island of Poveglia. So imagine that, nearly a 1000 years ago they managed infectious diseases with more caution than what some suggest here.

But in terms of people leaving Melbourne in droves, why is that Melbourne just overtook Sydney as the most populous city in Australia? If people have been leaving in droves why was there a massive increase of over 1.5% last year? I guess you're "wrong" again. I guess my "my Holier than though" attitude... Or did you mean "Hollier than though" or who knows what you're trying to say.

I literally set Wooden Robot for this trap and they fell very right into it with your additional help. I guess decades of tracking down and containing microscopic particles means trapping a right winger is like child's play. Who knew this forum could be so much fun! 🥳

I have a great role model in not telling the truth.
The Creep D. Andrews.
'When I rescued these Commonwealth Games that I actively sought and sent a delegation to London to pursue."
Or what was it, Comm Games people make all sorts of comments and assertions, I'm not here to debate them."
Yeah because you lied.

Wooden Robot "I'm wrong... dan is a liar". Great discourse, will read again.
