i cant believe bomber, he said many changes would be made at the end of this year, so far its going to be one assistant coach thats it. i suspected he would have got in and made a few trades but i just heard on sen that they proabably wont be going for any trades!

I'm not surprised. Disgusted, but not surprised. Look at his relationship with the players. He doesn't want to delist anyone because he wants to be friends with them. Poor management. He's not there to be their mate, he's there to coach the team to their optimum. That's the problem.

This was a huge issue after the Moloney/Ottens deal. He publicly said he wouldn't ever go through this again. Surely if you are the leader of the group you must make decisions that best suit the group going forward. We have selected a new captain who has come out and said that he must get the group closer together, so that means we can't trade anybody because we don't want to have the players upset they have lost a mate. So once again an underperforming group has been protected by a captain and a coach who don't want to upset anybody.

All garbage - When there is nothing to trade for, why bother? Who would any of you attempt to lure to the cattery?

There have been more changes than just 1 assistant coach. There have been many adminstrative roles changes and altered at the club as a result of the audit.

There is such my garbage spoke on here at times.

Exactly. Quite a few major changes have been made:

- a GM of football operations will be appointed to handle non-coaching matters (releiving Bomber of these duties)
- pre-season training will be changed
- a new assistant coach to replace Lovell

There may not be many changes to the playing list, but there will be fairly substantial changes to what happens off-field, which will hopefully be reflected in on-field performance. Anyone who thinks that the only thing that's changed is getting rid of Lovell is kidding themselves.

you guys say this now, but by midway next season when you will be in or around the top 4 you'll be whacking off bomber and all of geelong.

I think I can understand what you are trying to say. It's not just a matter of who you go after, it's who you put on the table. I would have put the names of King, Enright, Ling, Kelly, S Johnson, Playfair, Kingsley and Tenace on the table. I would not have traded all of them but if we could have got a couple of good deals done I would have let any of those players go. The ones that would have stayed along with the rest of the playing group would have received a strong message that poor performances and bad attitude is unacceptable. I recruit for the company I work for (I know it's not a footy club) and I make the tough decisions on what is best for the company going forward. If that means sacking a couple of guys who are not the right fit for our business I will do it. Thats my job. I make the decision that will be best for the company.

Agree totally with the sentiments Jack, but slightly disagree with the personnel. To me Enright does his job and Tenace hasn't had the chances others have. Everyone else I have no problem with.

But isn't that exactly the problem. What deals could have been done that would have left the club any better off? No-one will trade early draft picks, and what players could we realistically have targeted? At best you're likely end up with mid-range draft picks.

The major difference here (although I don't know what industry you're in) is that I imagine finding approprite replacements is much more straightforward. You're not dealing with a limited talent pool of elite-level footballers, with serious restrictions on the ability to recruit (trading, draft etc). You can't afford to let players in your best 22 go for peanuts just to make a point.

Where's the surprising part?
All talk no action, been that way for over 40 years. Just accept the fact another year is about to be wasted. Makes it easier when the inevitable happens.

Sounds like a lot of early judgement. There is no point making trades for the sake of change if they dont improve the playing group. Why go ahead and trade johnson for medhurst and playfair for jerico. If we could get drafts picks it is a better option but no one is trading drafts this year.

I will wait and see who and how many bomber delists for the draft before saying he isn't making change.

Spot on!

One of the changes made after the Review is that Bomber would be focusing on coaching rather than other aspects of the club e.g. drafting, recruiting

So why would you have a go at Bomber when he is not the main decision maker when it comes to drafting and trading?
